I think i Figured out the Zodiac RNG....

hey guys, i think i have figured out how to break the RNG Curse if ur stuck in Zodiac quest....

the previews apporuch i used, was keep trying the same dugnen over and over solo and that didnt work, going upto 32 runs to finish 1 dungen is not the way togo...

officialy SE says nothing, we call it RNG, or pure RNG, but i think there is some hidden elements here. this is what i have done to improve...

if any particular dungen is stuck, let's say u did it 10 times, and there is no drop, it's time to ask ur friends. preferbly either somene with a completed zodiac or a new player. or even both. now this is not garantee 100%, there is still RNG there, but it seems to have fixed all the ones i was stuck in, and now on my way to finish my 2nd zeta ;)

Gratulation, but where is the difference between RNG and another RNG ?

Some dungeons took me on the 1st try, some took a few, some took 20.... I think the biggest culprits were Copperbell (Hard), Sunken Temple (Hard), and Haukke (Hard). I almost cried (not really) But it was really bad ;o; Its just RNG toying with your life.

I had the best luck with sacrificing a newbie to RNGesus.

If a newbie isn't available, a Lalafell will do.

I find that if you dance the manderville while facing the exit teleport from a South-South Westerly direction while wearing nothing but the race specific boots, you're guaranteed to get the drop every time...

...or possibly just be humiliated in front of your party.

Guys! Guess what!? I figured out the secret to the Atma drops! All you have to do is keep farming FATEs and....oh wait, it's not 2014 anymore.

ok what i mean is, most of the time it worked, breaking the curse , now in some cases it didnt but they were rare ;)

it's just a theory but it has worked for me, i think there is an algorithim to all of this, and i think part of it as well might be the current demand of these dungens by new players. but that's another theory.

Actually if you do dungeons at certain times of the day they'll drop. There's a list of dungeons and times somewhere here...

lol this is really funny to watch, how u all follow like cluless chickens because 1 person made a stupid joke. this post was made to help the others who are stuck, and the theory i put actually worked for me, otherwise i would be stuck in zodiac, i just wanted to help the the rest who are stuck in this. while there is selfish players who propably finished their relics and beleave none are entitled to this information, i just want to pass the word around.

While it's great that you want to help others, what you see here in this thread is actually something that exists even in real life and is definitely not as intuitive as most would think it to be. There are lots of papers on topics similar to this and the most common theory would be that humans hate situations where they are incapable of influencing the outcome. That's why you have stuff like the Chinese Feng Shui, good luck charms, lucky socks, etc. Most humans probably have thought something like that in their lifetime, even if it was a passing though.

You are free to believe that whatever you do influenced your luck. However, others also have the right to think your theory is false or that their theory is better or that there is simply no theory.

In this case, I believe that SE did not add any hidden things and that it is based purely on RNG. But despite knowing that, there are times when I have a streak of bad luck and my mind unknowingly starts wondering on how I can improve my luck. That is only human nature and there are lots of cases in the real world where similar things happen. And most of it happens to those that had a streak of bad luck.

Whatever it is, I can assure you one thing. Those people in this thread ridiculing you definitely had an instance in their lives where they believed they could influence their luck, even if it was a passing thought. Most however wouldn't even realise it unless they consistently did self-reflections on their daily lives.

(Something like that... if i remember correct - need to search for the interview, its an older one)

Edit: Square Enix is known to add hidden mechanics (older FF games)
Even the minion emotes were hidden at first, when they have seen the players are liking them, they added many more pet interactions :)

drop chance formula is consumed time in the dungeon timer, divided by 2, = chance to drop %.

So were typically looking at 7%-16% chance to drop each run.

It's been claimed by various players that having a first time bonus in the run increases droprate, typically when there is a first time member, the dungeon run takes longer than a run with 4 veterans speed running to 15min completion. This claim supports my findings.

Such findings can't be coincidence that the whole transformation line is designed to get veteran players back into ole dungeons to help push first timers through such content. Such a formula would make sense and be most rewarding for veteran players that take time to teach new players the strategies and mechanics of a dungeon.

I had a thougt along the lines of time in dungeon improving drop rates when doing my second Zodiac. Lower tiered runs dropped considerably faster while higher tiers took a lot of spamming. Those lower runs were by no means speed runs...often had a new player in them...and all the higher tiers were rushed.

May have been coincidence, but it certainly felt like there was something going on along the lines of that theory that time spent running the dungeon affected drops

Yea, by the time I reach this point, I would not wanna do that (use up timer to test that). Also, I agree about that sig, I keep thinking there's a bug on my screen and wanting to smash it...until I scroll up.

I could see this being a possibility, because I do indeed notice that the level synced dungeons did drop faster for my two tank zodiacs so far, where as dungeons like WP where I blast through it in 15 minutes or less (thank you domino's) I usually end up doing 20 to 30 runs. Then there are places like snowcloak where it's generally 20 to 25 minutes, and it drops within 4 or 5 runs. I wonder what the details might be. This kind of reminds me of the cow level for original diablo. I mean i know there's a diff. the devs came out and said NO. But it wasn't debunked enough to prove it didn't exist. But unfortunately there isn't any way to control your RNG. Besides entering that dungeon queue one second before or after you actually would have. Then at the end you'll be wondering did i get that cause i waited one second to click join, or did I lose out because I didn't wait one addition second. I mean i did Lost City 45 times, no kidding, and that's not even the highest someone had to run something. And I have to ask myself, If i had just not logged in that first run, and did it next day, would I have gotten it the first time? RNg sucks really.

I just wonder how many people exaggerate on the forums the number of runs they claim to have run. I have 3 relics and didn't require that many total for one dungeon.

It's not like FFXIV has some sort of secret spawn conditions for Rank S Hunts or had certain times during the initial Atma farm pre-nerf that actually gave a higher chance to drop the item. I wouldn't doubt that you get a higher chance of the item dropping if you're actually doing the dungeon with a normal zodiac weapon, and commendations could possibly affect it too since they are counted before the game rolls the dice on whether or not you get the item. I do agree though that it seems like if you spam the dungeon it seems less likely to drop, so it may actually be in your best interest to try something else for a bit if it isn't dropping.

Some people are genuinely unlucky though, and if you think you're one of those people then it's probably best if you don't count how many times you've done Haukke Manor (Hard).

bell curve droprates. Somewhere someone went 1/1 in all 16 items while somewhere someone still hasn't received their first drop. exaggeration but you get the idea.

If I had your luck I would of done my third. My second was easier by comparison but still had a couple runs in the 20s.

If you notice, he singles out the theory of farming atma in certain areas at certain times of the day. The fact that he even mentions it directly after talking about some players who won't even get one within 24 hours. He also goes on to say that "I think everyone has better drop rates than us," hinting that there was a trick behind getting them. Regardless, the method doesn't guarantee a drop, nor does not doing the method guarantee that it won't drop. It was simply noted that people experienced increased drop rates during those times in those areas. Even when using this method, there will always be those unlucky few who it just refuses to drop quickly for.

Regardless, it's a moot point now that the Atma phase has been trivialized to the point where it's even easier than getting the base relic, and 3.1 will allow players to skip the Relic Reborn quest line entirely.

I honestly just hate the RNG on this, most of my dungeon runs.. perfectly fine, highest I've got out of most of them was 15, now I have Stone Vigil HM to do, only on 4-5th run on that.
NOW onto the main problem, it feels like the Questline for Method in his Malice is there to try and destroy my spirit. WP took fifty-bloody-three runs to get a drop out of it, now I'm on Copperbell and done 19 runs, still no drop. I am literally losing my effort to even do it because it's getting stupid, if Hullbreaker and Qarn are going to be like this also, I'm just going to give up. I was hoping to get my Zodiac before classes start. Classes start tomorrow, and I've been doing this for over two months whenever I've had the time.

Thanks SE, your RNG screwed me over once again. Whatever hidden conditions there are, I don't know it, and I doubt I have better drop rate than you guys.
