Real life Lala killing my game time

Does anyone else try to play with a newborn at home? I've been trying to level my PLD for what seems like forever. To all the people who have put up with me leaving dungeons 5 minutes after it starts, I apologize. Im honestly not ninja looting for that marbol minion.

Lala's are love. Lala's are life.
The Lala is top priority. Soon, your said Lala baby will grow and fend for itself.
Enjoy the time you have with your Lala. One day, it'll get punt'd and one day...it'll be one punt too many.
Then he or she will exact revenge on the world or follow in your footsteps as a PLD to protect the other Lala's
who have been abused!

Gosh, I'll never have a child personally. Waaaaay too much responsibility and commitment for my liking. I much prefer a cat or dog personally. :3

Still, your post is adorable OP lol. You should make a macro like, "gtg baby crying" or something. That way people wont assume you're being a jerk for leaving. :p

You'll eventually hit a point where the lala will be able to sit up and watch you play. Enjoy that while it lasts, because soon (like all lalas) the baby lala will come to understand that your keyboard, mouse or controller belong to him and you will be barred from using them in his presence.

I leveled all my DoL's DoH's to 50 (way before my main) playing one handed on a PS4 all while my daughter was sleeping in my arms. Now she's a year old and still haven't finished the main story.

Just bear with it for some time. Soon (in some years) you'd be able to use your 'lala' as a legal bot.

I never thought of that. DoH/DoL could use some work. That could easily be done with one hand.

Since becoming a new father during the time of me playing this game, i know for a fact that it wil get difficult to do things like dungeons and raids, because your baby takes priority. She will need a bottle or a changing in the middle of the battle and you will need to tell your party that you have tend to baby. I only do dungeons with FC members who know my situation, because most people aren't patient enough for a new parent to tend to baby in the middle of an instance.

Its a change for sure. I dont mind the 30 minute penalty anymore considering I get to raise my young one. Only one question tho... Do I sleep or do I raid?

Lol got kicked once coz I had to feed my Lala and was healer.

Anyhow I only play after wife and baby sleep. Can clock abt 2 hours a day

Not trying to be rude here but it will likely come off as such... but I don't understand why people with newborns play MMO's.
Your baby is a big deal. It is brand new to the world and relies on you for EVERYTHING and of course it should ALWAYS take priority, but at the same time many folks with children forget that they are playing this game with complete strangers. You can't expect them to wait for you every time your lil bobby or susie makes a fuss. You can't pause other people's games and they should not have to pause for you.
To be honest, I would quit playing MMO's entirely until my newborn was old enough to fend for itself (which is probably atleast age 12 at the earliest). Not because I couldn't handle juggling baby-time and game-time, but because
A) This is your baby and its only a baby for so long, so enjoy it and
B) complete strangers shouldn't have to be burdened by players who keep going afk to be a parent.

I just had to add my two cents to this lol.

My son used to lay in my arms while I played, and my daughter would do the same thing. The thing about kids that young is that they'll take an invested interest in what your doing. They want to feel involved in your day to day activities.

Now that my kids are a little older it's easier to play, but they still require my attention and affections. I don't ignore them, and I'm always aware of what each of them are doing. But even older my daughter will still sit with me and watch and even go to sleep most of the time.

you just have to build your routine. Even if at first that's playing during the cat naps, it'll get easier over time.

I still hold the belief that all parents should be banned from entertainment and focus on the most boring of adult activities.

Then your obviously not a parent. It's stressful, with slightly older kids it's infuriating, and you need a way to decompress all that. For a lot of people games are how they do it. They can't just go out with friends, or run off the bar (If they're responsible anyway) so they go to the next best thing.

Im pretty sure Gramul was being sarcastic in regards to my previous post. Please, understand I wasn't trying to be rude. Like Rune said, video games are an outlet for many people and its important to remember that this is a game for fun. So remember your fellow players, it can be incredibly frustrating when your in a dungeon and someone has to afk every 2 minutes because "baby". That's not fun... Just try to remember that. If you are constantly having to drop party or afk for this reason, perhaps you should stop playing and return when your life is a bit more stable and baby doesn't require your every moment of attention.
This is why i made the post I did. Ive had this happen. Numerous times in fact, and while I may not have children yet, if I did, I wouldn't subject others to that kind of frustration just because I have kids. That doesnt mean I have to stop gaming. Just that I should maybe stick to games that I can pause without griefing other players.

They had their chance.

It depends on the kid honestly, they're all different and all require different levels of attention. Even newborns. Some will sleep for a huge chunk of their first year, Others are awake for most of it. Each person just has to use their discretion in regards to their child's needs.

Totally agree with you. I'm guna assume that you dont have any offspring. Most of the time, its a pretty consistent schedule. Eat, play, poop, then sleep. When a naptime seems like it should be 2 hours or so or you lay the baby down for the night... its usually safe to presume you have a while to yourself. Which is almost always not the case. You do honestly come off as rude but as someone who was on the baby-less side of the Duty finder 4 months ago.. I know what its like to be subjected to vital roles going afk or suddenly leaving an instance. Its pretty effin annoying. Perhaps SE should make a babysitter's world where DoH/DOL and /follow are king. Because all we want is a sleeping kid and exp.

It's an age-old struggle. As a parent, you need some time to unwind just as anyone does. Constantly looking after the needs of a screaming tot can be incredibly stressful at times, and it's nice to take a break away and do something fun. For some of us, video games are a good way to take the edge off. For me, MMO's are the best way to take the edge off because I can not only play, but interact with others (and occasionally vent some steam, so apologies to anyone who's been on the receiving end of one of my rants!).

When my youngest was still a baby, I'd play short bursts of online games. At the time it was DC Universe, since it was something I could jump in and out of fairly easily. I still played FFXI at the time, but it had to be tempered considerably with looking after her, so I drove a lot of people crazy by seemingly vanishing every few minutes. I love my daughter, but there's a point where all the cooing and doe-eyes turns into frustration at how this little poop machine managed to soil herself only half an hour after a nappy change.

I think I would have gone quite insane had I not had time to break away from it all. Luckily though, with her being my second child it wasn't so bad. I was prepared for the interruptions and constant caretaking. When my first came along, I was playing FFXI at the time and had to quit due to the stresses involved with caring for her. I didn't return until long after Abyssea had been established and she'd all grown up ready for school years.

So while I can understand why people would be frustrated at players with children, I hope they can at least understand that the frustration is often shared. We might love our children very dearly, but that doesn't mean we don't want the same things you do. To just play the game! Hmm.. hope that didn't come off too ranty by itself, I have a knack for tangents.

I'm a NEET, kinda, no troubles for me other than not meeting up with friends on time irl and in FFXIV.
