being synced to lower levels...

I was wondering about something - If you're equipped with a endgaming level weapon and enter a lower level (pre lv50) dungeon or fate battle, would the same damage inflicted be taken into account, just like in any area of the game, outside of dungeons/fates?

e.g. using a lv50 sword (or bow/arrows), and similar level gear, in a dungeon such as Sastasha at Lv17.

I already know that your level will be synced, as well as the abilities that are available, prior to the synced level.

What about post lv50 weaponry/gear when Heavensward is out?

yes basically every gear gets desynced to same stats let say pld lv 30 and pld lv 50 goes to sastasha they both have gears that will get desynched to that dungeon the lv 50 player with better gears will still have the same gear stats as the player with lv 30 gears

Not actually true. If you have level 50 gear and sync to level 30 you actually would still be a little better because everything syncs to the MAXIMUM ALLOWED stats for that level. So even if you had perfect ilvl 30 at level 30 the stats you have may not be max stats allowed for that level in everything. ie a mage that syncs tends to have more Hp because of a higher allowed VIT sync.

yes that makes sense I was however comparing lv 30 and 50 tank gears to lv 17 dungeon in that way they would be same stats :) as both gears would easily cross the max allowed stat so they would round to same numbers i think....

Fair enough. That would be true.

Yeah, it gets funny when you are a lvl 50 healer in a low level dungeon healing tank with iLvl below the dungeon level, and you heal 1/2 his HP with 1 cure/physic.

especially easy with SCH most of the time im spending in cleric stance and let my fairy heal

Yep, same. :)

This is why a lot of us are against the idea that's popped up of letting the sync'd keep the abilities lost to syncing. With what you can do with the abilities you keep the damage you could potentially do with the rest is insurmountable. It's why I look like the laziest Bard when I moonlight, I could rip hate off an at-level tank with just 5 seconds of my usual effort were it a level 50 dungeon.

Yeah that idea is pretty crazy.
Though I do miss Leaches as SCH in some dungeons where CNJ/WHM already has Esuna, that's the only thing I don't like about syncing.

Gear is synced too. In normal mode Satasha, your gear will be synced to ilvl 17, just like you are synced to character level 17. This will generally give better gear than an actual level 17, though, since ilvl 17 gear in every slot isn't available to him. In the first high level dungeons, your character is no longer synced, but your ilvl is.

not only that the non-synched player would not have a full ilevel 17 gear set. The gear for the synched player is like all green ilevel 17 gear or all HQ ilevel 17 gear, because the stats on his gears are on the max stat cap for ilevel 17, while the non-synched player will not only have gear lower than ilevel 17, but also some normal NQ gear.

Am I right in seeing that the dungeon syncing will change from when Heavensward is around?
So my equipped weapon would create the same amount of damage as in any area on the game?

I think only if you enter the dungeon with less than the required party size.

Only with a pre-formed party (not sure if you can do it solo or if you need two or more), and only if the party leader selects that option in the DF. But yes. =)

The only thing that stinks about syncing is when it puts you below 30 and you cannot use your job abilities. I think they should change the first job abilities (level 30) to be useable at level 1 or 10. You are already giving up loads of cross class abilities, and then when you sync you lose the job abilities as well.

Or make it that the job stone get automatic unequipped if synched lower than lv 30.

Then why are you syncing below 30 with your job? Bring your class instead.

That raises the question of having equipment that's job-specific. Strip the soul stone, and suddenly you're naked, because none of that stuff is legal on your class. Particularly troublesome if your main weapon requires your job, since that makes stripping your soul stone flat out impossible.

This argument is really only applicable if you're using your AF, AF+1 or Relic. If you're using any other gear then it isn't a problem as they are all wearable by classes and Jobs. Yes, even Ironworks and Dreadwyrm.

And so if you're using that, you're screwed, too bad? And that's not true in any case. All high-level SCH weapons after Darklight are job-specific, including Ironworks and Dreadwyrm. Only SMN stuff can be used by ACN.

Low Level duty roulette contains 15-47 dungeons. Holding threat as a Gladiator without shield oath in Auram Vale might be a bit tricky. If they want to separate pre 30 and post 30 roulette's then you might have a point.
