What of this new Pet Glamour System?

So we aren't getting any new egis, and I've made my peace with that, (runs to corner and cries "SHIVA!", I'm good I swear, *sniffle*) anyway, in response SE has "promised" us a glamour system for our current egis, which I am also okay with (Shiva!). Well I am curious about a few things and wanted to get other peoples opinions on them as well.

1: Primarily when will we be getting said system? Ideally, since we aren't getting new egis, 3.1 would be best, though launch would've been better, lol.

2: Hopefully, the egis will be made more viable and not just melee, tank, caster. That being said will each egi only be able to be subbed with a certain one or can we pick and choose? (SHIVA!)

3: With said glamour system coming, will we get new glamours for every new primal that comes out, and will we get them instantly? Ie, when the expansion comes out we will have Ravana and Bismarck, plus there could be Phoenix as well; will their glamours be available once we defeat them in battle? Possibly under a condidtion, but still.

4: When (and if) we do get more egis, how will they be affected by the glamours? Will certain glamours be restricted to certain summon commands, because of lore or something?

5: And what about Scholar? If Summoner is getting a glamour system, why not Scholar too? Maybe people are tired of looking at the same fairy. I know people have been stating that having Phoenix as a pet for Scholars would be great, and there have been plenty of healing pets in FF history, so glamouring the fairy isn't a bad idea either. Plus we could use Carbuncle again, maybe?

So those are the thoughts. Please list your own thought on what you think this glamour system should be like.

Don't get too excited, they only vaguely said they considered it.. IF they implement this (which would only be better than no new egi at all) they need to include fitting attack animations also, watching Shiva spam wind blade would be pretty terrible.

Thats the reason for this post, I'm currious what everyone would like from this possible system.

The good way to do it, imo, would be make pets fully customizable.

You choose the "skin" of your egi/pet and then you set the skills you want. (Any old/new primals, Carbuncles, some bosses like Siren/Diabolos/Fenrir, hell maybe even mog)

Some skills would be generic, like Single target attack, AoE attack, Single target+debuff, AoE+debuff, ... and these generic skills effects/animations may change depending on the "skin" of your Egi.
Other skills would be specific, like Contagion (increase duration of DoTs) and Radiant Shield (counters physical dmg suffered) and so on, but any Egi can use it and it would have the same effects/animations.

Of course there will be need to have some kind of balance to all this, like having 50 points to spend on pet skill allocation (which you can reset any time), and the most powerful skills costs more points, while the weak auto-attack-ish 2-3seconds recast thing costs only 1 or 2 points.

I like this line of thinking, this way we can decide which pet does what, this would allow for both customization and pet versatility.

Basically, you would pick you summon command, Summon 1, 2, or 3, each staying as caster, tank, and melee. You pick the egi you wish to use for that command, all egis are viable, and then you select moves that work for that type of egi (caster, tank, melee). And as you said certain moves would be the same for all pets, barring animations,, and certain moves would be role/animation specific, like Contagin being a caster move only. And then each egi would have their own enkindle move, that hopefully has a lower cooldown.

If things are done this way titan wouldn't always have to be a tank pet, but we could make any egi a tank, caster, or melee. This would actually make things easier for SE in the long run, (do we wanna make it easier for them, lol) as this would mean they wouldn't need to give us any new summon commands just new ehi skins and abilities. And I like the idea of using old FF summons too, but right now I think we should focus on primals. But if I get Fenrir and Shiva, Hells yeah.

That being said the system you indicated sounds like it might take a little more effort than what was "considered". But I think it is something they can do and it would work reasonably well.

I'm happy SMN will at least finally "get" Carbuncle.

My thoughts on how this Egi glamour was gonna go is the it changes the egi, but keeps the moves the same with different names/animations and the like.
More or less:
Shiva = Ifrit
Leviathan = Titan
Ramuh = Garuda

It's the only way it makes sense.

That's sorta what we have now, and it sorta sucks, since it keep each pet seperate, the best that would happen, is instead of everyone using, garuda, some might use emerald carbuncle or ramuh, or instead of ifrit, ruby carbuncle or leviathan, meanwhile titan, shiva, and topaz are stuck on the sidelines as solo pets. Granted we have to see how they changed the pet system now, but this glamour system should fix the versatility issue if it wasn't already.

I would love this system for a very superficial reason. I'm not considering it for gameplay mechanics or anything...I just simply think that Carbuncles are adorable and would probably main a SMN if I could have all of the Egis looking like that!

Well my BF is a 60 summoner, and it said in the quests the reason why we didn't get egi's is because {SPOILERS INCOMING} they would take a greater quantity of aether to summon, and it can risk going out of control, or something along those lines.

I know a few people who would be more than happy just to have the carby glamours for their pets.

I would like to get a glamour system as well but just for primals (& carfuncles) but not for minions... that wouldnt make sense at all... we are summoners not the muppetshow ;)

There are still more than enough and every major update will bring us new primals as well. Ifrit could use melee-like primals like Odin, Gilgamesh or Ravana. Titan could get fat-ones skins like Bismarck or even Gilgamesh too. Garuda should get all the magical ones like Shiva, Ramuh, Levi & King Mog.

It would be funny if u would have to gather primal-tokens for glamour dropping by the primal u want to glamour f.e. kill Ravana Ex for 1 Ravana glamour token which lasts for uhm lets say 24hs? Oh as easteregg u could spend all tokens of all primals at once for a Bahamut-glamour that fits all three Egis – now that would be cool :P

Something I really don't understand about this whole thing. If they are going to give us the option to change the appearance of the egi, and this in turn will change the appearance of the egi's abilities. Then why the hell don't they just give us a spell for each primal's egi's and be done with it. since they have to put in the work anyway for each one. Instead of wasting time creating a glamour system that only applies to a single class.

Well i think they lack in ideas... to seperate them all from eachother... – didnt they mention, that they thought about a glamour-system because there are a melee, a tank and a magic egi out yet? with the faeries there are supporter egis as well... but im on your side the new egis/faeries/carbuncles should be new skills by them own... at least that would make the job-storyline more believable. i would love to face Ramuh like the questline spoiled... come on finish this storyline :3
