Edit: (Now that you finished the post XD)
I just thought of a FFXIV joke:
Q: How do you piss off the FFXIV forum community?
A: "We will look into it"
ZING!
For serious though.

Scroll to the bottom and report away good sir.
SE already has a "special task force" and a website for players to make reports.
Good thought though. ^^
That does noting don't waste your time reporting. Every sense STF took over banning players it became useless to report. Before the STF i report 3-5 fishing bots in north San d'Oria within a few min i talked to a GM and within 1hour all the bots was ban and never saw them again. Try that now with the STF it may take months by then the RMT have trade all the gil and cash in there money pointless there really not doing anything on a f2p that also a issue here.
You make a call to a GM all you going to get is a text saying report this too A: Website saying B this. no one really talk to you.
I wonder if your Char is stuck on a spot would they even move you lol
A GM tried to move me when the area around camp glory was corrupted. He/she was really nice and tried their best to help me. In the end I had to copy dat files from another computer ... ^^;
As for RMT... I think it's a weird slippery slope for them. Like how do you distinguish between RMT and people that have a second account and farm/sell transfer stuff to their main accounts?
This was years ago and I'm not too sure how TRUE the story was but the person that told me this story was supposedly threatened with a suspension for "Entrapment". He was a fellow camper at Poisonhand back in the day.
He supposedly confronted one of the RMT that camped Poisonhand and gotten him to admit that he was RMT. Obviously this is something that should be reported right....? When he told the RMT he was going to report him... The RMT in question arrogantly said to 'try it' and that SE would do nothing about it.
So supposedly he did report the RMT and got threatened with suspension for trying to entrap the RMT....
Like I said, not too sure how TRUE the story was but if it's the case...... I think a neighborhood watch would definitely fail... ^^
OH i can believe that story for sure, Some of the ENG GM in FFXI did not even know anything about FFXI. Some knew a lot i report a person for camping and getting joytoy NM 5-6times a row and selling it from 8-15mil. The GM told me he allow to sell whatever item he get from a NM i told him "So if i get VE and sold the item for 5mil i'm allow? He told me if someone want to buy the Valkurm Emperor item from you then sure. So pretty much that GM knew about the game and pretty much told me it allow to sell items i thought it was not allow in the TOS lol.
Also if a JP report you, the jp GM are harder on the person then a ENG one at least that what i been told by many people who get report for /check on a JP player which i found funny that you could get ban for 72hours for /check a JP 1-4times o.o even if you was spamming the person that still dumb reason.
Anyways i hope the GM and STF get better when this goes p2p and they ban all the bots.
1. A group of players with weird names on autofollow doesn't necessarily make them RMT. Some people use multiple accounts to quickly gather gil or to advance their character more quickly. If I had multiple accounts, I'd name all my characters by bashing my face into the keyboard just to tick people off.
2. Are they harming your gameplay experience? What does them running around on autofollow have to do with you? Are they stealing your mobs or items? Are they harassing you? Or is your dentist just complaining because the very possibility of RMT existing is causing you to grind your teeth into dust?
3. Why aren't you laughing at players that are sad enough to purchase gil? Gil's not exactly a rare commodity. I have this theory that the people that are most vocal about RMT are the ones that purchase gil, as if to decry the exploitation of their laziness.
How do you determine who is R.M.T and who isn't?
This isn't R.M.T
This IS R.M.T (Or a Linkshell full of Lalafell)
Our LS knows the locations of most R.M.T groups now and what time they come online, we even go to pay them a visit but they never speak XD
Most famous one is Haha King and his group of female Lalafell that all hang around Camp Bloodshore around 10pm U.K time, he's the only one in the group that is male and doesn't have purple eyes :D
They don't do any harm though, really they're more like cute little NPCs that don't speak and follow each other around. I'd never consider buying Gil nor would I say what they're doing is right, but in a huge immersive world, it's kinda nice to see them all plodding along day after day doing the same thing, sort of like having a pet that requires no maintenance, no matter how bad things get, you can always rely on them being there to make you smile and giggle.
What are they doing to the economy? Examples? Which crafts are they destroying? Which HNMs are they monopolizing for gil drops? You can't really give examples because the current system discourages transaction tracking. So, out of sight, out of mind right? If you can't demonstrate tangible effects of real money trading, it's a non-issue.
The truth of the matter, as I've said before, is that RMT activity is a sign of a healthy game. The lack of it in FFXIV speaks volumes. I've also said that some serious RMT activity would actually benefit our skewed economy by creating an abundance of crafting materials. With an influx of RMT, there would be a healthier crafting system with materials being much more accessible to everyone. The downside to that would be a more tightly controlled economy as in FFXI, where the parts of a recipe are usually more expensive than a finished NQ product. But that will happen anyway once enough players join and level crafts of their own. If I can purchase stack of meat mithkabobs for 2k each, I'd almost certainly say that's not to my detriment. If they don't mind making 100 gil profit from a craft, I don't begrudge them that. Woe to the rest of the crafting community that have a hard limit placed on how much they can inflate the economy - not.
just because you say its RMT doesnt exactly mean it is.
at the early days I had 7 buddy keys including my own, i made a char on each one to do leves for my main, i'd just start then go do them on ma main, the 5 chars were all mithras but i was creative with names, tho at the start as everyone was low it looked like 7 regular chars when i controlled all.
also STF dont do much right now and a ingame report would be abused, like it is in every game that has one.
Neighborhood watch, also known as nosey bastards that need to mind their own business. I for one will never grass/snitch on anyone. If SE can't do the job then we are ******.
That's my thoughts.
It's such a chore reporting people that so far I have yet to bother.
I'm always like: I'll do it later.
And then I never bother.
I have no compunction whatsoever calling a GM using the in-game support system though. Doing that is pretty convenient. So I don't know why they don't just tack on a RMT complaint function, because then more people would likely report RMT. Or maybe that's the reason there is no such thing in the first place; they want to keep us out of their hair.
They probably get tired of paranoid people reporting every twinge. We don't need a poorly educated volunteer task force mob ready to flare their nostrils at the mere suspicion that RMT may be occurring somewhere in the world spamming SE with nonsensical reports. It's nobody's business how anyone using the auction house/market wards/economy system of choice in-game. Unless they're using third party tools and exploits for unfair claiming, speed/warp hacking, crafting exploits, item/gil duping, etc. Then it becomes everyone's business. Al Gore's intrawebs are intended for ethical use only.
There's a time and a place to brandish yer pitchforks, and this isn't one of 'em. Getting your festival bikinis all in a knot over autofollow Lalafells is fail.
No offence, but who else do you think autofollow lalafells belong to if not RMT?
Chocobits must be saving up $$ to buy from the RMT when the game goes P2P and gil aint flowing into peoples pockets like water anymore. Dont harass his future suppliers User201109011315 lol. Why the holy hell are people defending people that could possibly lead to the complete demise of a game that they play. And not many people multibox in a game where u can have max crafts etc and absurd amounts of inventory space on a single account???? no friends? no life? 400lbs living in moms basement collecting disability for being fat and diabetic? And alot of people that do have extra accounts etc right now only do because they are FREE at the moment once they gotta pay for it sayonara.
The game demise'd the moment it was released. The pleasure we're obtaining from it now is just a massive post mortem priapism. So wait, multiboxers are more overweight and socially challenged than their single boxing counterparts? Where do you find these statistics?! I must read further.
Speaking of reading, I never said RMT was unhealthy for an MMO. I said it would be healthy for THIS one, because of its low playerbase. But yeah, nobody can even point out HOW or WHY RMT affects them personally, it's just a lot of nostril flaring at seeing autofollow Lalafells. Lots of people in FFXI multibox to quickly accomplish goals like completing Empyrean weapons, and it makes sense to do it in FFXIV while the game is free to play. Think of the amount of gil and expensive crafting materials you can stockpile right now by multiboxing. So, while RMT may be going that route right, it's uncommon for them to do pretty much anything that doesn't provide them immediate benefit.
Why would I buy gil when the game goes pay to play when I can stockpile billions of it now? Derp.
while i don't want rmt in my mmo's, i also don't go out of my way to get them removed. only ones that anoy me is the ones that personally mess with what i'm doing at the moment. yes they are screwing the economy ..everything i try sell could probably be way more and worth doing for the time we do it for, but my biggest things are out claiming me on nm's i'm trying my hardest to get drops from, and comming onto my camps and 1shotting stuff while 5others are behind on auto follow, though alot of u do these things that aren't rmt, u are the more anoying thing in mmo's.
also sad to say this but i have more respect for rmt or drug dealers for that matter then most jobs in this world. least they giving people something they acually want. but on top that i think problem is SE and other mmo's like the money they get from rmt, they are paying for subs, probably more then one sub at time and are keeping players in game that might leave if not buy gils. yeah they ban them but usually it's the ones that get pummled by players ..i think it more to ban problem ones to keep us quite and happy that they "trying" in reality i can bet there a tons of good ideas on getting ride of them, a ingame security token is one of them that pops every 20mins while u fish or whatever. it's a balancing game for SE, to make as much money as they possibly can, not to make any one of u happy.
The problem I do see here is, if you craft just to level up a craft and not really for money, that was expensive man :/, so I've never had any gil really, max I've had is a mill. Now I wouldn't buy gil from these suckers because they personally pissed me off by trying to sell gill during beta stages of the game (Open beta anyone remember?). But my thing is for other people like me who may not have the moral fiber of most, lets say they do buy gil, it may become popular here pretty soon I think since these gilsellers have basically been stockpiling gil for a long ass time. They'll have tons of gil to sell, if they were smart they should even do it now while people don't have to play for the game. (from a business standpoint, I'm not supporting them)
I just really don't want to have to turn on a spam filter on my chat, I was tired of that in xi, and kinda paranoid I might miss something that got misjudged as spam. I don't want to see shouts in uldah everyday about gil selling either.
