I'm pretty sure it is, and that this will be fixed, but it still makes my lip twitch all the same...

Why would it be incomplete? Lalafells don't have knees.
(joking)
Female Miqo'te look silly in that situation too. SE has to either give us something to place our feet on, or implement "letting-feet-dangle-physics".
LOL
But don't all Lalas like to float?
I agree, actually, MOST races look pretty awful riding the Dragon (I've tried a few) even Au Ra Female is pretty awkward... but Au Ra Mael? He OWNS it... oh man... Au Ra male rocks the dragon...
I guess they just didn't scale the Dragon when you change the PC's race so that the benchmark would be more normalized/save space.
I hope that the dragons mounts aren't boring non-scaling ones, I'm looking forward to having a mount that's about the same size as the Midgardsormr minion.
This thread made me LOL hard. Im sure they will fix it, but dammit is that SS signature worthy
Yep, Miqo'te aren't much better. Just ran it with my secondary main:

Though still not as bad as lala's xD
Personally, I think the Lala should be sat on its head, using those 2 horn things (ears?) as hand holds.
...I'm confused, what is a lalafell? o.O
(Joke aside - yeah, I'd think it's just bechmark weirdness. That dragon mount was clearly designed with Au Ri in mind... that shouldn't mean no proper scaling for all the other races. :/)
Lalafels are little angels - they just don't need their cupid wings! :p OT: Don't worry it will probably be fixed!
I was thinking the same thing when I did the benchmark with my lalafell, I was so disapointed...
Also, I'd like to show the poor animation clipping we have as a lalafell, you can see here my spear going through my body, really ?

Clipping in this game is really bad in general.
I have a Hyur with long hair that gets completely destroyed.
Here's just one example:

Things like this have been in the game forever, with very little mention from the devs about plans to fix this stuff. I only remember them commenting about Miqo'te tails which are also notorious for clipping terribly.
Hate to break it to you but that Spear clipping and these poorly done mount appearances probably aren't going to change on release. You probably never noticed it but there are some pretty terrible mount poses already in the game that never got attention - you might have noticed if you made it a point to collect a lot of them - but it is also race dependent.
I feel like the benchmark contains 'completed' content as a preview of what's to come, and what you see is what you're gonna get.
Can't grab a picture because I'm at work but if you think clipping is bad, go wear the dreadwyrm tank chest piece along with the dread shield....two armor pieces...from the same set, clipping each other to high heaven.
THAT DESIGN SE....THAT DESIGN.
This is not the same thing here, the problem is the animation of the character, not my gear or my hair, I know this problem has been in the game since forever that's why I'm avoiding long hair and miqote because of the tail.
Another shot after LB and I still have that spear going though my body.

Also, I am collecting mounts Jessie and most of them are pretty good for Lalafell, I can't say for the other races though.
Maybe it might look better if they made lalas stand in a surfing position on the dragon.
when it comes to clipping i think they want to just have the basic models and scripting out of the way and make the game stable which at this point i beleave they have and the next month will be solving all the clipping issues :3 because it is a bit silly when all these 'major' clippings get though, if you want to see one there is clipping on the au ra female's /pose the hands merge though each other instead of grabbing her own hand. or putting her fingers though her finger ..gaps.? (do they have a name?)
As said before, the modeling was done for an Au Ra male and they're not resizing the dragon for other races. As far as your spear.. spearing you, it's probably due to how everything's scripted and they didn't take into account each model. One foot for a hyur is different for a lala, but they're probably taking the same steps for choreography. I wouldn't worry about it though.
Of course it doesn't detract from the actual gameplay in any way, everything will probably still be functional. But regarding the aesthetic aspect it can really kill the entertainment to see sloppy things like this... Even if it's only visual quality, it still has quite an impact on overall player experience.
We're not trying to hijack the thread into clipping, it's just mentioned because we do in fact have cause to worry. Since they have not made any serious changes to these problems which are somewhat related, and have been long been reported, it's a cause to worry that they will not make changes such as fixing the mount pose as mentioned in the original post.
I'm sure it takes a lot time/energy/effort/manpower to visually inspect each race/size/pose/mount and all their interactions, but that would be much appreciated by players who actually enjoy the visual aspects of the game. That especially goes for players who a take lot of time/energy/effort themselves to customize their characters just the way they like them! What we see here is a lack of effort on inspecting the model interactions and as evidenced by our unaltered in game (or in benchmark) screenshots, it really shows through.
Would I unsubscribe over this? No. Am I unhappy about it? Yes. Would this deter a new player from trying the game? I don't know...
That saddle is the worst. It doesn't make any sense.
I don't think that the devs will spend time to fix the clipping in the benchmark.
In the final version, if it come to animation clipping (not gear clipping, but clipping that also happen if your character is nude), there can be a fix.

And its cuse of this of why i will probly change to Au Ra
People should be used to this. I realize we shouldn't have to be, but this is how SE is. They have becoming increasingly sloppy with the smaller details in FFXIV. I have a feeling all their $ is being put towards Final Fantasy XV to be honest.
No, pretty sure the modeling was done for the Hyur Midlander Male, which is the default character for the benchmark.
The reason everything clips, animation-wise, is because they pretty much use the same animations for all races, they just seem to make the skeleton slightly smaller for lalas and this causes problems.
who even let that saddle design happen, you need thunderthighs just to grip the dragons sides and hold on!
Lala's don't believe in the limitations of gravity. Soon the lesser races of Eorzea will learn our ways and reach their full potential

:)
plus people do not forget when 2.0was launched it had a lot of clipping and a lot of small details were missing that came in with the 2.x2 and 2.x8 patches :3 they tend to go content -> Fixes and QoL -> Content -> QoL
:3 just any clipping or hovering issues i think will be solved by 3.02 or 3.08 :3
Edit: and excample is Goblet came out in 2.2 the textures were all wrong and clipping and that was fixed in 2.28,
and some QoL such as rain and wet textures came out with 2.12
seeing nchocobo's foot prints and seeing your breath in corteges was in 2.22 :3
