(Speculation) Heavensward Opening CS: Is Ishgard Floating?

I was watching the Heavensward opening cutscene last night and this caught my eye. In the screen grab below it looks as if Ishgard is missing the bridge (Steps of Faith?) and Gates of Judgement completely. Has there been any talk of them retracting it ever?

This thread (here) shows some different pictures of the bridge. Keeping in mind that this is a CG animation version of the area and would be better detailed, I can't imagine they would leave it out accidently.

I have to assume that this is the side of Ishgard we always see as the lower left looks t be the entrance to the city, so where is the bridge? Did it fall down or retract? Could the reason we don't see the floating islands be because Ishgard has up and moved somewhere else a bit more north? I mean the structural integrity never seemed to be there looking at the bottom of the whole dang place. Another point of interest is the tower/pillar on the right side of the city, it's just kind of floating there not really attached by anything. I can't even begin to figure out how they would show this in game to people before HW and those who are into the new part of the story.

What are your thoughts?

I think at some point in the pan around Ishgard it shows how the Steps of Faith is connected to the main city. That said, I do think it might be floating beyond the bridge.

Not sure how that works, but there's floating islands. Screw logic, that's cool.

Just went and rewatched it. Right before this scene it does show the Steps of Faith, but then the view goes through the clouds and comes back to the scene I grabbed. The transition seems odd to me, almost like a "time passes" or "something changed" feel.

Well, the "something changed" part is all the floating islands that we've never seen before. All we have now in game is just Ishgard sitting there, no floating islands in the sky around it. That's probably how it's supposed to feel, revealing the land(?)scape around it and pretty much making you go "oh sh*t."

I think it's mostly the scene that makes it looks like it, the shadow of the mountain plus the fact that the rock is thiner below Ishgard makes you think the bottom is going even thiner and so that it's floating.

It just looks that way due to the base being surrounded by clouds

It is, but the sun is making the bridge very white and it feels like it's not connected, although that bridge is really strong to hold a tower like that !

I wasn't convinced by the missing steps of faith - since that could just be the back of ishgard - but that floating tower is a bit hard to explain away.
Simply saying the bridge is missing thanks to the sun isn't enough, since the bridge would have to be monumentally strong to support it (which lololink already said). SE has been pretty good in following the laws of physics (or explaining them away when it's needed) so it may be that ishgard is floating in that image.

I doubt it, but based on what I see in that picture... maybe.
