Yeah, that about sums it up. lol
Would like this also! ^^ sometimes I like to hang out there all day but hate that I have to teleport somewhere just to check my retainer ventures lol.
I know, I just like the atmosphere. xD But totally agree, hate teleporting to check ventures. ;/ And think of all the missed limited-time events! lol
...yeah, no. Just no. Still getting my teleport canceled sometimes, on account of the place being "full". Add retainer bells in there, and it's gonna be like a homeless center. Just no, thank you.
If anything, I say boot the AFKers. As popular as GS is, I'm surprised this hasn't been implemented right off the bat. In fact, I'm not sure why it's been removed from the game, in general - too many times I want to log in and I'm forced to wait because the world is full. And I know I see people AFK rooted to the very same spot, quite often throughout the whole day. -_-
Also, apparently there is an NPC somewhere that complains about a no-pets-allowed policy? That should also be an actual thing. Not only no pets (and by pets I mean minions), but no actions either - I really can't understand why we're able to cast spells and execute actions inside a casino. It's not only "behind the scenes" logic either, it's that childishness of so many people who feel the urge to spam the s××× out of Holy or Blizzard or whatever - in the middle of a GATE or at the Cactpot Board where there's such a huge crowd of people anyway that the game struggles to load everyone in. Damn stupid and annoying. (Yes, I am aware of the settings, I know we can turn others' effects off, but I don't think anyone should be forced to such a hassle because of one zone only.)
no thank you.
i'm glad the market board sitters have to leave GC to do their undercutting.
Someone made a thread a while back suggesting they add this and Market boards. Do people NOT remember how bad Gold Saucer was at launch and a few days after? People who went into chocobo square to get started on racing couldn't even exit into the Gold Saucer it was THAT bad. Now you want to revert it back to how bad it was?
Gold Saucer is NOT meant to be the Holy Grail of places you must be 24/7 in FFXIV.
No, No, No. Twelve forbid if anyone else agrees with OP's suggestion after my post.
Market Board in Mor Dhona please!
Ok then nvm. LOL i guess now I know why they didnt put retainers in there in the first place :X.
I don't usually ever see it packed in Masamune and I don't remember it ever being full even on day one lol. But then again I didn't pay attention to the amount of ppl xD.
My Bad ^^;.
the lack of MB in Mor Dhona and the lack of retainers in GS are purposeful design decisions so that no one zone is an overcrowded mess.
I still personally don't think a few spread out retainer bells would be so bad. In fact, if the argument is that there are too many people (and I don't know how it is on your servers, true, but), then I rarely see more than three or four PCs participating, or standing idle, in the areas outside of the blue zone of GS in Sargantas at any given time (and that's a Legacy server) unless there's a limited-time event going on...
They could put a bell in each "bar" area, or in areas where GATEs don't pop. Hell, if it's such an issue - make a separate area for people to get stuck in like the Chocobo area called, like, "The Coat Room" or something... People who afk and use aoe actions there are one thing, but two or three retainer bells in GC doesn't sound so outrageous just because of them... Maybe you should be reporting the aoe spammers? And according to all this logic, shouldn't there be no retainers in Mor Dohna at all? But people would probably flip out if SE took those away... So then the question becomes... why aren't there retainers in Dragonhead if there are retainers in Mor Dohna? That clearly has nothing to do with PCs maxing out an area's capacity. lol Apply the same logic to GS. And for that matter... Then why is there a Summoning Bell in the Wolve's Den? I've seen people afk, idle-hang, and queue for duties there too, but have never heard anyone suggest it was overcrowded, and that's a much smaller area than GS.
Then again, for me, it's all about teleporting in and out of GS to check my retainers and how that gil offsets what I earn from quick ventures while scrambling to get the special dyes I actually want to use... So I guess one more Favored Destination option would be a perfectly fine consolation to no retainers in GS... Could I at least get that? lol
I'm assuming that was because so many players were already playing when GS opened, and many of them were extremely excited about it, so they all rushed in like battering rams to get the first cacpot tickets and have the best chocobos. I really didn't care, and only first checked out GS a few days ago, so guess what: I had absolutely no idea there was ever a lag or capacity problem. And I imagine that Saturdays get pretty busy, but otherwise I've never had a lag problem, never had a capacity problem, and have never felt like "there are too many people here" since setting foot in GS (and I'm now almost a daily participant).
Why was there ever such a huge problem with server capacity after 2.0 went live back in the day? Because of all the players rushing in, adhering to their uncontrollable excitement... not because of game elements that improve our characters' quality of life. ;/ My point is... since a few weeks after 2.0's launch, and a few days after the launch of GS, have the issues honestly been as bad? To be perfectly honest, I haven't noticed what you're talking about at all.
What about being forced to teleport out and check ventures only to find out you can't get back in? lol Would you consider one then? >.>
I'm glad too... but I'm asking for a retainer summoning bell, not a market board... -.-
And I guess, if it really is just about server space, why not increase it to allow for retainer summoning because the GS is obviously so popular? (Kind of like *cough* the release of 2.0 *cough*) There are tested solutions to this kind of problem, so if the summoning bell sourness is really all about maxing out GS's capacity - perhaps it's time to think about an increase? After all, I'm hoping SE will be expanding server capacity for Heavensward anyway because of all the anticipation and related initial server stress they're sure to get. The same people who flooded 2.0 and the GS at first will be the same ones bogging down servers and spamming aoe in Ishgard when 3.0 releases. Be prepared. (But I'm willing to bet there'll be both Summoning Bells and Market Boards in that area.) >.>
Please no, marketting and raiding don't belong in Gold Saucer, otherwise the people would split up even more and I very much like to see every city filled with people.
Yes please!
No please. It will just become a more congested mess.
No, I wouldn't. For starters, I don't want to spend all my time GS, so I never feel "forced" to zone out. Furthermore, nobody's being forced to check ventures the moment they are finished either. Simply put, GS is a casino - you don't eat, sleep, and do all your shopping and work in/from a casino. It's not accomodation. You want markets and retainers at your fingertips, go to your housing zone, those are the ones for that.
Even with all that said, I especially wouldn't want to give more incentive for players to create even more congestion in one specific place, from a dev's point of view.
How about a marketboard furniture?
Ask yourself: What do people DO in Wolves Den? It's half the size, and appeals to a very small set of the population.
GS appeals to a large segment of the population, what with having minigames for all levels as well as choco racing and GATEs.
And Mor Dhona appeals to an equally large segment, what with being the source for most of the endgame equipment as well as quests.
Wolves Den? Just PVP, PVP gear, and training dummies.
I wouldn't mind it if it was in a separate area like the Chocobo Square. We still need our Haunted House Hotel too. This can go there xD
Oh, right. Do you know if the Haunted House Hotel will be like an Inn Room for GS or something? If so, just put the retainer summoning bell in there and close my thread. XD
It doesn't matter. I was using the Wolves Den area as a metaphor to counter the argument that just because people aren't "supposed" to hang out there, they might. And while the Wolves Den has a retainer bell, GS doesn't, and I just find that weird. I mean, seriously, do people gain so much PVP gear at once that they absolutely need a retainer there? It doesn't really matter what people do there, if there was a retainer bell in Urth's Gift, I'd hang out there because the area is cool-looking. lol But I would never ask for that because I never see people there. The GS is populated with players and mini-games, what's wrong with a summoning bell? (And to answer your question with a personal example, the Wolves Den used to be one of the areas I queued and AFK'd in, but I've never PVP'd for my entire FFXIV life. Why? Because the area looks cool and has a retainer bell. lol) No one has been able to successfully tell me exactly why this summoning bell would be such an issue...
Even this:
Actually... when people are staying in Vegas on vacation, almost all of them eat, sleep, and do all of their shopping and extra work (if any) from a casino because nearly every one of those casinos doubles as a hotel - except for maybe the dive-store, mom-and-pop casinos. The GS is no "mom-and-pop" casino; the Mandervilles could probably afford to offer retainer services (or finish renovating the Haunted House Hotel addition if it really is an Inn Room equivalent). And for my fellow RP-ers out there, if we're supposed to feel like fancy gamblers inside the GS, then why not humor us by letting our retainers "fetch" us some venture spoils while we play a round of Triple Triad? This would actually increase the realism of GS, especially if - like I said before - the summoning bell was located in one of the Lounge areas of the Wonder Square.
