Especially a reconsideration to how GC Restriction works.

Square Enix are clearly trying to get players more into PvP with the new gears and mount incentives, which is a really good thing! The only problem is that they have a very flawed queueing system. The PvP in this game is very fun and there are many PvP fans but we just cant get into the duty as frequently as we'd desire and i am sure this can be fixed.
Fix the matchmaking for both Wolves Den and FL, make more maps, make PvP a bigger aspect of this game because its just so good we want it Square Enix!!
E.G the only reason i still play is bcos of PvP even though its sooo flawed atm i just have hope that with the release of HeavensWard patches will be made to make the PvP system running smoothly with fast pops and more content... ahh i wish.

I agree! The advice I got as a healer for PvP was this: "Just basically run around like a chicken with its head cut off and try not to die."

I really want some of the gear from PvP too because it is the coolest looking gear in the game in my opinion, but I have no interest in PvP as it is right now.

The gc restriction should die in a fire. It's literally the reason I don't play pvp.

I just went through this today... I'd forgotten about it and I wanted to party up and PvP with an FC mate, but nope, we are both in different grand companies so we couldn't. A pretty irritating restriction that doesn't help make the queues for PvP any less worse since it does the opposite of supporting PvP with your friends and FC.

Unfortunately it's just designed so horribly that very few people want to do it. As mentioned previously, splitting it by GC means that you can't play with friends. Even worse, with the exception of the Wolves Den, the PvP modes are just PvE with other players periodically poking at you. I don't do PvP to kill nodes, I do PvP to kill PLAYERS, so that instantly and completely turns me off from it.

If they wanted to actually bother fixing it, it wouldn't take much. Remove the GC restrictions. Remove the node/tower NPC BS. Capture should play like Arathi Basin. Slaughter should play like TDM. Maybe add CTF. PvP is now 200% better.

But it won't happen.

Edit: Oh, and PvP level? It's one level. Not three. Seriously, that's beyond stupid.

The GC Restriction is one of my favorite parts, you keep worrying about teaming up with your friends as opposed to queueing up at the same time and hope you end up locked in battle with each other fighting for your respective GC. I'm a proud Immortal Flames and I have a blast trying to take out my friends in PvP, if you let just anyone in there then there is no teams also the amount of pre-mades rolling everyone would skyrocket and you'd quit after losing 50 in a row because you single queue.

No MMO exists where solo queuing is better than rolling in a premade for PvP, nor should people always solo queue in an MMO which last I checked is the only game genre which explicitly insists players group for content.

GC restriction is bad, the lore explanation is worse, and it should have been removed a long time ago.

Are we supposed to know what Arathi Basin is? What is TDM? I'm assuming CTF is Capture the Flag?

Other than that I agree that their system is inherently flawed as it is and with the DF, it's even worse. They seem to think that more maps = better experience. The problem is that with more maps, it dilutes the already few people even more and will most likely just increase the wait time in general causing more people to not want to play it causing even longer wait times.

I personally agree that it should be redone to focus more on PvP and less on PvE and though I really don't mind some PvE interaction, I don't think PvE should affect the outcome of a PvP match. I pvp to fight people not see who can take PvE nodes/etc the fastest.

Yes and it would become even worse if they remove GC restriction. I noticed quite a few people say they don't even PvP because of this, so perhaps you are unaware of how much premades suck to play against. Not many of my friends are into PvP so I solo queue often.

Except it would also cause many premades because people would be playing with their friends. Their experience would be more enjoyable regardless whether they win or lose.

And it wouldn't get worse because there would be more and more premades on ALL of the teams. Not just one in particular. It's really a win win. Not sure why you'd be against getting rid of GC restriction. It was a horrible idea from the start

Lol. I mean we took a lot of ideas from WoW. Why not take some PvP ideas? If anything Wed actually get to streaming for PvP which would help gather more fans. Personally I want more PvP but the way combat is I can't see it ever being really competitive. However getting rid of gc restrictions will almost instantly lower q times. Also reduction in zerg PvP plz. 10 v 10 mhmmm

You make a valid point. Lets kill off one gc so we can have even based faction PvP. Yes!

The GC limitation and insane queues have totally put me off of PVP entirely. I really want an ADS, but I want to play with my friends (and can't) and the two times I actually queued for it solo, I waited over an hour and never got in (and this was early afternoon).

I'm not big on pvp in general but I'd give it a shot at least, if SE made it easy to do. They don't.

Because they have coordination on their side and they don't, so they don't play PVP? Makes complete sense. I don't see the logic behind this when people gather under the same banner and do the same exact thing. I PVP often and I've fought premades. Yes, it sucks to fight a coordinated team. Yes it sucks to have BOTH alliances push you back and out. **** happens. But know that Premades aren't unbeatable. People need to stop using this as an excuse. It actually depends on what the THIRD alliance plans on doing.

Where are they at?

I would love to try PvP but I just don't have the patience to queue for over an hour.

When I played WoW, PVP battlegrounds were my favourite part of the game and I miss it.

You speak as though premades don't exist in a single GC, they do. With it set up like this, if you're in a losing GC you're pretty much screwed unless you can switch GC. Plus a LOT of people in PvP want to play with your friends. To be honest, improving PvP could only benefit SE, as when some hardcore players run out of things to do, they can PvP to pass the time. PvP definitely seems to be an afterthought here, which surprises me a bit considering how Yoshida had listed DAoC among his favorite games.

If there is one thing I've learned from 15 years of playing MMOs, it's that restricting people's options is usually a bad thing. Regardless of whether you like this GC restriction or not, it's pretty much responsible for PvP queues being an hour long.

It's unfortunate, but the state of PVP is not going to be fixed for a while. Likely not until the patch after the expansion release.

It's a long time to wait for the change, but I don't see them giving it what it needs until then, unfortunately.

And that's fine. I think most people have stuck with it thus far. It's just -- let us know that you're aware and at least thinking of how to manage the issue. SE is great with FFXIV communication. It's worrisome that they haven't mentioned something.

Remove the Grand Company restriction & shorten the PVP match length. Add a server wide Leader Board that resets weekly with most wins, most kills, most healing done.

They also need to add assists to this game

I'm gonna give this thread some love because I cannot stand PvP as it is right now~ There is so much they could do... but it just seems like a really sad part of the game right now.

Hell, at this rate, it needs to be lengthened. You wait 45mins+ for a queue, damn match ends in about 10 minutes. There is a lot that needs to be done.

3. ADD ASSISTS, PLEASE! This should of been done AGES ago.
4. GC removal...remove it and I guess they can just make random names for funsies.
Team: Moogle/Chocobo/Tonberry or whatever and people just queue up from there with their friends.
PvP is so boring though...All in mid, then TRY and kill people, and fight over nodes. Go back save your manor things, return. I dunno I just think
PvP in this game is not all that good to start with. Get slept, BLM/SMN kills you in successions of LB's.
It really needs more flavour...nothing to say about Wolve's Den, I hate that place. SOOOO boring.

If anything, I'd love if they'd please confirm the removal of GC-tied PVP Rank & make it universal (attached to your character, not your GC).

And gave us a "mercenary" (random GC assignment) queue.

And changing the Frontlines Roulette Rewards to incl. actual PVP bonuses like PVP Exp. & Wolf Marks.

Along with adding a Daily Wolve's Den: Roulette.
