I loathe Toto-Rak. Sticky floors and forgetable bosses. For whatever reason, it's newb-tank central.
*facepalm*

I think you mean Toto-rak?
Because I mean Toto-rak. I just assumed this was a thread for hating Toto-rak.
Because Toto-rak.
DD, Copperbell HM... but overall... AV :(
Aurum.
Vale.
Tanked it way too many times. I smell like morbols now.
Tam Tara normal. The most mindnumbingly boring dungeon ever. Nothing like a full group of 40+ players getting stuck with it for a low level roulette.
Aurum Vale.
healer's nightmare!
Toto-rak is horrible and I'mma let you finish, but Aurum Vale is the worst dungeon in the world.
Brayflox hm because ive ran that damn thing 276564738837746474884756 times lol
Y'all must run low level dungeons much more frequently than I do. I don't necessarily enjoy Toto-rak but by far it isn't my most loathed dungeon, simply because it offers me nothing so I don't choose to continue running it.
I have leveled up at least 1 version of each of the trinity to 110+ stats, and the first time playing on a new Job out of the trinity I leveled up solely through dungeons. I found that each of the low level dungeons actually help you learn your job by giving you things that are actually dangerous at your level to deal with!. Toto-rak, for example, taught me as a fledgling WHM the importance of Esuna during each and every boss, and when to use it correctly (i.e. making sure tank stays alive and esuna-swapping DPS in between cures // or double and triple stacked poisons on the mini bosses needing cleansed quickly). Whether its how to hold hate on multiple mobs at low level by rotating enmity generators between mobs, learning when to fit DPS in as a healer, and simply killing mobs in order if the tank takes the time to mark them, I felt the low level dungeons offered much more variety and difficulty (whether it be artifical with gear deflation or not) and enjoyed them in hindsight much more.
Don't get me wrong, I would speed run every single post-50 dungeon if the party will allow for it every single time, but as long as something feels genuinely challenging then I would gladly eschew speed runs for calculated advances that gives a sense of accomplishment upon completion. And since we spam the post-50 dungeons much more than we will ever spam low level dungeons, I can kind of understand SE's standpoint on making those feel easier then their lower level counterparts. Or maybe everything just naturally got easier for us because we learned what we needed to know pre-50? I can't say for sure...
All I know is my most loathed dungeon in FFXIV is one of the only post-50 ones I can think of that feels like it was SOLELY MADE to not be able to speed run and get over with as fast possible.
Sastasha HM. Whether it be tethered Lamias, doors that don't open until 3 mobs are killed, rocks that disappear only after 2 mobs are killed, more doors that don't open until I kill myself over the monotony and ease that I am being gated, or even DPS not knowing which tentacles actually need to be killed during the Kraken fight (making the fight take potentially twice as long)...
All I know is I don't do HLDR very often, but when I do, I eat the 30 minute penalty if Sastasha HM pops up and I apologize in advance if anyone happens to be paired with me for that Hydaleyn-forsaken place.
And I'm pretty sure SE knows how much I hate it. It's the only dungeon in the Zodiac quest I had to do more than 10 times to get the datma (dungeon atma ;) )
Av. I always get 2 melee dps. It becomes a poison party and not in a good way.
Satasha HM! I actually loved that dungeon right up until the final boss.
It's so obnoxious and tedious I'm always filled with dread when it pops up in duty roulette. :(
Copperbell Hard. I avoided the high level roulette for months specifically because of that dungeon.
DD and AV are mentioned a lot, and I wholeheartedly agree.. but Qarn... QARN. Nobody knows how to run the thing! I have had so many bad runs there! How many times do you have to kill the head NOT on the platform until you realize that you must kill the head on the platform? And the bees.. THE BEEEES *Nick Cage/mind boggling*
I hate most of this game's dungeons, honestly. The ones I dislike the most (in no particular order) are Hullbreaker, Sastasha HM, Brayflox's HM, Aurum Vale, and Toto-Rak. All of them are either boring, much too long, much too easy, were poorly designed, or some combination of two or more of those reasons.
DD by a mile. Ugly design. Terrible fights. Wonky mechanics. So terrible.
Aurum Vale, for the fact that it is sadistically capped at 49, meaning you are one level shy of being able to shred it and you're missing a handful of abilities it'd be really REALLY nice to have (like Lustrate on SCH, Circle of Scorn on PLD).
Dzmael is also pretty terrible, but at least it's capped a few levels lower so you're not constantly feeling strangely underpowered.
I've got a few that I'm tired of seeing because of the zodiac quest chain (QAAAAAAAAARN!), but the undisputed king of dungeon hate for me is Aurum Vale. No lustrate, Flare, or Circle of Scorn and the tank inevitably stands in all the things.
Toto-rak. Oh god toto-rak
Remove Toto-rak.
Also, the reason why people hate it because
low-level roulettes almost ALWAYS gives you it! STOP THE DAMN DUNGEON! XDDD
I also agree with Cute McSnuggles...Post 50 = faceroll. It's not all that fun...
There are no dungeons in this game that I 'loathe'. But I am less fond of the post 50 dungeons. The loss of level sync and the lose restrictions on ilevel sync make them too faceroll. I miss the experiences I had my first time doing Qarn, Cutters Cry, and AV. AV actually took my friends and me almost a whole week to beat the first time. It was AWESOME!
Stone Vigil. It seems like enemies in their take so friggin long to kill even with level synced DPS. I keep thinking "Would you please die already!" during every encounter.
most loathed dungeon? The Forums are a pretty loathe-some dungeon to navigate sometimes...lots of hi-level trolls and lots of tunnel visioned players.
Oh! In game?
Qarn HM..not because its hard but because I had to run it 50+ times to get the dungeon item drop for Relic.
AV.. because I'm running it right now for the zodiac drop and... it... does not exist.
I've never had an issue with Toto-rak (save for a few tank-runs-a-little-too-far-ahead-and-gets-locked-on-the-other-side-for-10-seconds...oh, and I did get locked out of the boss room once because the last barrier just went invisible instead of actually disappearing for me only) and I've done it tons...I must be lucky.
I hate Aurum Vale with a burning passion. I hated it before I tanked it, then I tanked it and it made me want to die because I totally messed up too many of the pulls.
Now that I think of it, I loathe Sastasha HM, too. As a healer: Screw. The. Kraken. I have to run two hundred feet between the tank and dps to heal anyone. T_T
I hate AV, but only that first room. Honestly after that room it's fine for me.
Toto-rak drives me nuts though. Thanks SE for not giving Leeches to SCH until level goddamn 40.
I like most of the post-fifty dungeons (but I also hate speedruns and am glad about any stops for them...haa...) But thanks to the zodiac quest I never want to step into Copperbell HM again. Ever.
AV, cos that first room is a nightmare. One step wrong and BOOM. Also the stupid sync to 1 level below all the fun stuff like Flare, CoS, Dragon Kick... After that first room it's not so bad.
For the rest, they all have their issues, but nothing quite bites as much as the sync in AV.
All of them: dungeons are far too simplistic, offer zero reward outside of desynthesis fodder, and undyeable glamour (LAME!). I avoided Zodiac for so long thanks to my hatred for dungeons. I stopped unlocking Expert Roulette after Brayflox went into High Level Roulette. That alone should prove just how much I despise dungeons in this game.
Currently I don't like Keeper of the Lake, mostly because 2nd boss is irritating to play as a melee against.
I also just have a general dislike for dungeons, slow or speedrun, doesn't matter. Prefer feeding poetics compulsion with trials and raids.
Qarn and Aurum Vale have the steepest learning curves. They should rename Coincounter to Newbiepounder
The Keeper of the Lake.
Without a doubt the single worst dungeon of the game outside of Brayflox NM. If I have insomnia and I play Keeper of the Lake, I end up falling asleep it's that bad.
AV is a terrible dungeon if zodiac drops hate you, but I've been taking people in there during this last week teaching them how to properly speed run it. The only trash we actually kill in the entire place is the 2 rooms of Morbol Keepers, and the 1 group of Diremites right before the last boss (which we could probably lock out anyways). Everything else can be sac-pulled.
Thousand nightmares of Totorak was my bane during all my level 50 level up period....
Now, in my relics stuff, going through books and zodiac farms, it is.....
AURUM VALE
DZ*wrwenirweira*el DARKHOLD...
Those two are unbearable, it doesn't matter how fast I try them, it's just IMPOSSIBLE... The chances of getting a DECENT team are even lower than chances of getting the item... The chances of getting a group that knows how to, and wants to skip certain stuff, are of a millenary 1%.... The damage you do and receive in these are so damn OP compared to the latest dungeons.... You don't have some of the latest skills and it can be seriously annoying to do when you're used already to all 50... Second boss in Aurum Vale can be the worse nightmare ever seen if you go with newbies...
Dev said that they didn't implement Aurum Vale hard and Dz*amhwrqwr*el darkhold because they were 1.0 maps and stuff like that, but.... I KNOW THE TRUTH... We'd need to call our raid groups to deal with those if we want to avoid suicide.
Titan EX DF?.... T5 or T9 DF?... NO!... Aurum Vale Extreme!
"Please don't kill morbol seeds, let them grow, I need exp"
Angry Neko: "NOOOOO!!!!... Aurum Vale is not even supposed to be for leveling, damn!... I leveled ALL my classes through fate farm from 45 to 50 nya!... Go do fates, no Aurum Vale "
"I also need the gear"
*Nekogami sama ragequits*
Any dungeon that contains trash and/or faceroll bosses.
But really, I'm not hating the dungeons themselves - it's the gear progression system that lets you faceroll all the dungeons. So much that low level dungeons are harder than high level dungeons.
Funny how hard mode dungeons are named "hard mode". They might be if everyone only used gear appropriate for the dungeon in a parallel universe.
And also, the static nature of dungeons and how you are encouraged to keep repeating them. Only one or the other please, not both!
Aurum Vale, for sure - that one level off the cap is very annoyingly crippling. Especially when there are occasions in there when that Flare or Shadow Flare would be exceptionally useful. (Or that Lustrate or Benediction, even. Being a mage first, those are the ones I'm painfully aware of.) Without even mentioning the bad poison party, indeed. @.@
And then there's Qarn NM. The Twelve take that Teratotaur >.< I can't be bothered to count how many wipes I've seen on that. (Not as bad now, I suppose, but it still happens quite often.) Also Cutter's Cry, to a lesser extent, perhaps. ... Yeah, these are the two dungeons I've been very reluctant to do while leveling up. @.@ I mean, AV too, but that can easily be avoided for that one level... Qarn and CC are along for the ride much longer.
I'm not much fond of Brayflox's Longstop either, tbh - normal is just way too long, somehow even with avoiding the optional mobs, and the number of people still not able to do Aiatar properly is astounding; "hard" I've just been to waaaaaay too many times back when it was on Expert Roulette, so I'm simply bored with it.
SE, WOULD YOU KINDLY REMOVE THE CHARACTER LIMIT ALREADY?! WHY DO YOU ANNOY PEOPLE WHO WANT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS IN HERE?!?!
I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon with Toto-rak, for two reasons:
One- Every mechanic in the dungeon is only designed to slow you down, it's never particularly challenging, it's just more legwork. Gotta walk around and collect glowing macguffins to open the path forward, gotta cut through diremite webs if anyone gets stuck behind them. Hell, even the FLOOR slows you down!
Two- Only one real boss! The first two 'boss' encounters are just almost identical tank and spank fights with poison thrown in. The second one throws adds into the mix but even then it's not much more than a slightly lengthier trash pull.
Outside of Toto-rak, I've never been a huge fan of Sunken Temple, it's not even that bad anymore; I'm just brimming with lingering resentment from the early days of 2.0
Toto Rak. Sastasha (BOTH)... Stone Vigil... Snowcloak..
Actually, the ONLY one I like is Lost City
