You forgot to mention where you're finding this "glitch".
You're seeing this in 24 man raids and hunts, yes?
Once both debuff bars get filled up, they won't appear. I actually don't know if they are applied or not, so i'm not actually much help. I just get my dots on early and keep them up to command / maintain the dot slot.
i disabled all dots display except mine
Then it would stand to reason that your dots are not being applied.
This didn't really answer Anubis's question. Bosses still have a limited number of dot 'slots' (and it seems their aggro tables are limited too). If you're seeing this in hunts, it is normal and to be expected.
If you're seeing this in 4/8 man content, I would verify to make sure there isn't some other explanation and then file a bug report.
hmm im seeing this in WoD
I get this all the time, it is just a visual bug with having too many dots on the boss even if you turn off other people's dots. The dot is still being applied (fester will still do the full damage), still ticks, can still be extended by garuda but will only actually show up on the boss' debuff bar if you let the dot run out completely and then reapply it. It is annoying as heck.
WoD is certainly enough people to reach the graphical max.
I suspect this has something to do with the mob's version of our character data (the reason we don't ave lots of QoL that you've probably wanted).
It seems that the graphical max is not the limit to what can actually be applied.
Mobs can show up to 30 debuffs but can be afflicted with up to 60 debuffs. If you apply at 31st-60th debuff, it will work completely fine; even Fester will work as intended even though you can't see any of your dots. If you try to apply 61+ debuffs, it will say "X HAS NO EFFECT" instead of the little popup showing the debuff applying. If you reapply dots which were originally hidden because they were 31-60 before they have completely expired, their effect will refresh to the full duration but it will NOT make them show up on the debuff bar, even if there are less than 30 debuffs at the time you reapply.
The only way to get your debuff to show up is by applying it while there are LESS than 30 debuffs on the bar. If your debuff was applied as 31-60th and you would like to see it, you'll have to find a time to reapply it after it has completely fallen off (a very minor dps loss). To guarantee to keep it visible, you will need to reapply and clip them for the rest of the fight. All of this applies, even if you've turned other people's debuffs off.
This is a really irritating bug with how enemy debuffs are handled.
Before the first CT raid was implemented the debuff limit for a target was 30 effects (two rows of 15 effects under their target bar). With the implementation of CT they increased this cap to 60 effects but any effects over the initial 30 will be hidden as they don't fit in the UI.
The problem is if you apply a DOT in slots 31-60 it won't display for you even if you have your effects prioritised in the UI. On top of that if the total number of effects on the target fall below 30, those you applied over 30 STILL won't be displayed (and if you're refreshing your DOTs properly they'll be stuck on the 'invisible' debuff bar). The only way to see them after that is to deliberately let them expire and reapply them when room opens up in the 1-30 slots.
For most jobs it's a minor annoyance, but for SMNs this is a major issue as we can't track our DOT timers and can often waste a Fester as a result. Hopefully it will be fixed in 3.0 but I'm not expecting much as this issue has never really gotten a response from the devs despite being highlighted multiple times.
This has been an issue since launch and still hasn't been fixed. Pretty freaking big issue imho.
I was always curious what this was. I've only ever seen it happen on Cerberus, though - my DoTs show on every other boss in WoD (though I don't put them on Cloud often because I don't want to push DPS - I'm a SCH - as I know how nasty it is to have worms up when the box-cloud phase starts)
It probably happens on Hunts, too, I just don't pay attention...there's only enough people there for that to happen on S ranks and I'm too busy healing people in that case.
Oddly enough I see this dot limitation as a DRG as well. Some of my own debuffs don't land, but the attack (such as Disembowel) hit for damage just fine. I never had issues with Fester while on SMN, so I honestly thought it was just the PS3 being dumb.
But I still see it on PS4.
It's PS3 UI limitations. This game is already at the max limit of the poor PS3's RAM. Once they drop PS3 support after this expansion like they plan on, the game will improve vastly in terms of UI aspects.
I see this a lot in 24-player content. Your DoT gets applied but the tick doesn't appear under the boss. If you re-apply the DoT the timer is reset but the icon still doesn't appear. Only way to get it back is to let the timer run out and then apply the dot.
It's different to the DoT-Limit all enemies in the game has, as when you apply DoTs and the DoT bar is full, the DoT doesn't actually apply or do damage. The difference in this case is that the DoT does apply and does damage, but doesn't appear. Very frustrating, your DoTs should always appear for you no matter what :(
It's on every system. The debuff is still landing, but as the 30 displayable slots on the mob are already taken up, the icon won't show. What debuffs will be displayed is determined on the mob itself, not by your system filtering out the list, so even turning on "display only my own effects" doesn't fix it. They're still there, but you won't be able to see them.
