Him and cicil have very similar hair. Coincidence, I think not!
I think Frodo's the DRK.
Personally, I kinda want Pipin to be a GLD, sort of a lalafell version of Raubahn.
Spoilers inside:
Pipin is gonna get Raubahn out of jail and Raubahn will become the DRK trainer...I mean he was pretty dark and grim and brooding...all very DRK-y if you ask me
That's enough talk like that Mr. Frodo. You best be concentrating on killin' bad things.
Raubahn is technically a GLD. That being said, as we just saw, he has a darker beast-like side (which is coupled with the fact that he wields duel swords instead of sword + shield). If anything, I'd say Raubahn is a unique combination of GLD and WAR with his own unique inner beast. Probably closest to a Beserker like role (which we don't have). NPCs have access to classes/jobs the player doesn't though, so it makes sense. Merlyb is a Muskateer and we'll probably never see that class as playable at this juncture with 3.0 having a different gun-job.
Just so long as Wedge teaches Machinist, I'm okay with it.
Yeah I didn't get Pipin being a Dark Knight vibe at all (He is wearing armor from the hunt, specifically the helm, its obtained for DoW, its not the tanking specfic one iirc) I saw Pipin as being the--spoiler
replacement and eventual leader of Ul'dah once we take care of the Monetarists.
I think it would be unlikely to have Raubahn as Drk trainer.
Using Raubahn as the DRK trainer would be difficult as it would require him to be situated in Uldah near the sultana's chambers to maintain continuity with the previous story, if you just got to 30 and want to unlock DRK he would still need to reside with Nanamo since the recent events would not have transpired yet, if you was post main story he would be locked away and if you go further into Heavensward he would be possibly be somewhere else creating a very strange set of places for him to be located to unlock the job and further quests.
I don't see Pipin as the Drk trainer either as he seems far too pre-occupied with other things, plus he uses a standard sword much like pld and if they really wanted to tease a drk trainer they would give them a greatsword much like they did with yugiri and thancred and ninja.
Have they said we would unlock the new jobs at 30? Or maybe we need Heavensward access to get them. The conditions of obtaining the new jobs have not be disclosed so honestly anything is on the table.
They've said that you'll have to complete 2.55 story to unlock even the jobs. That said, I'm not sure that Raubahn's current issues will be resolved quickly enough for him to be the DRK trainer, and I don't think they like having main story NPCs be job trainers anyway.
2.55 SPOILERS:
The thing is I don't think he will be a leader anymore. I just cannot see how he can fill Nanamo's shoes now that he has killed an unarmed man (although he deserved it), he will be known as a killer, and why would a nation want him as their diplomat when he could just snap like before and kill more people. We already know that Pipin opted to go back to Ul'dah, it could be shown in the opening of the DRK quests, that you have to break him out of jail and he then trains us on the way of the DRK, or in the opening CS of Heavenward we might see Pipin getting him out of jail.
The new jobs apparently come from Ishgard and require Ishgard access to unlock, so I don't think any of the people mentioned will be trainers nor will they be involved in the quest.
Estinien, Raya-O, and A-Ruhn are actually the exception so far as far as story NPCs being involved with Job quests, and the latter two are pushing it since they only appear in cutscenes and don't really have any dialogue.
Come now, we all know who the dark knight trainer is going to be. We've already met a character that is looking to master darkness, has had it poured into every fiber of his aether, and is just begging to be brought back.
Nero tol Scaeva
DRK Trainer will end up being Papashaun's twin brother.
He left Ul'dah ages ago, not content with the Sultana's rule, and learned the Dark Arts to counter the code of the Paladin taught to the Sultansworn.
I haven't cleared 2.55 yet, but the patch note picture and certain peeps' context clues make me able to put together what happens somewhat, so it fits.
This will be our trainer

Seems counter productive to be a trainer focused on two handed swords with only 1 arm.
He's a GLD or close to it. Take a look at his back, notice the shield?

It's alot more likely that the "holy" knights of Ishgard are DRKs. See how Eymeric and Lucia only has 1 sword?
I wouldn't mind training under eymeric. But I swear he had what looked like the excaliber. Or maybe I'm thinking another. Coerthas npc? Either way, pipin doesn't have to be our trainer to be a dark knight. =D
Give him a magitek arm plz so he can be like bruh i can block ur attack now.
Dude gets his arm chopped off and no one goes like woah damnnn this guy still alive.
But yea as long as the DRK trainer is NOT a lalafell i'm cool for whatever.
The most likely candidate is Lucia for DRK trainer tbh, but I really want Raubahn to be the trainer (or at least a character who is also training to be a DRK, the story would fit him perfectly)
Either him (in red armor) or Eymeric (in blue armor) would be fine for me. Anyway we will finally get a trainer who has VOICE!
The only thing which imo might keep him away from the training is:
The last time we saw him in CT quest line, he was wearing ALC AF outfit...
Once Raubahn lost it, and realized that he'd been played for a fool, Nanamo was his soft spot, and now that she's gone, and he's labeled a traitor, he's had time to think, I doubt he'll lose control again. And if you noticed, Kan-E-Senna and Merylwyb were both worried, but couldn't act. Looking around the other nations after 2.55, seems like no one is believing the lies, but the "mind my own business" mindset is still there. But, seeing their friend in trouble, i think that mindset won't last in the expansion.
Pretty sure the next Ul'dah ruler will be Hildibrand.
I only read the first page so I don't know if this has been said yet...
I can see Raubahn possibly become a Dark Knight. ....But first he needs to get a mechanical arm with a hidden cannon in it to replace the one he lost. And he needs one of them swanky Drk greatswords too of course. And then he can go kill Griffi- er.. Lolorito for killing his woman.
The thing is the other nation's leaders can believe what they want, but in a Republic system they don't matter, its the people. Regardless if they like him or not there will always be the question of "what if he snaps again."
Let's just say your current real world political leader snapped and killed someone in cold blood in a dinner gala and you heard about it. He was imprisoned for the crime but was sprung free from jail (either on bail or illegally). He then comes back to serve as your leader once more...would you want to elect him? You have to remember that not all the NPCs in this world are privy to all the information. Yes we speak to quite a few key NPCs who believe there is something wrong, but that is not the vast populace of Ul'dah (if it was then they wouldn't have a problem taking in more people as that place would be considered empty).
Well I have, but Raubahn murdered someone in cold blood in an area wherein drawing ones weapon is forbidden. Andrew Jackson (I am assuming you are speaking of the same Andrew Jackson who was the United States' 7th President) however, killed people who slandered his and his wife's name in duels, which was a completely different scenario.
Oh course they don't mean much to you because you were not alive during when duels were considered a form of keeping honor intact, something that the modern culture does not have :P
Fair enough. Though, even modern society realizes that you don't speak ill of the dead. And it's certainly bad form to speak ill of the recently assassinated royalty. If this same scenario played out today in a modern monarchy, the guy who snapped would certainly be arrested and tried, but I don't doubt he would also have a good sized following. I wouldn't even be surprised if he got reduced sentencing.
On that note about possible dark knight trainers, put two and two together and maybe nero will build a new arm for raubahn that's imbued with dark powers. This won't happen but I'm just throwing it out there since those theories of raubahn and nero relate to DRK.
