Something about what the Miqo'te's wearing...

I was looking at the picture for the new Event and Party recruitment guide and I notice something in particular, particularly what the female Miqo'te was wearing...

The skirt looks a lot like the Miqo'te loincloth, only in black. And the two leg bands right between the skirt and thighboots looks similar to that of the female Hyur's skirt. Is it possibly a new skirt design (as judged by the band) or are racial/starting clothes will finally be able to come in different colors (The ribbon on top of the tail hole looks like that of the Miqo'te loincloth.

It is a nice outfit, but at this point I'm going to call this artistic freedom. It would be nice if the starting gear was dyable though, would certainly make for some interesting glamours.

I wouldn't think too hard about it, almost all 'event' artwork released for FF as a few bits in it thats is there entirely for looks. The little ladies day for example was showing a cute cat, could have been a minion, (I mean theres a black one at the MGS, a white one would have been nice too...) instead we got housing stuff. and a choker. /slightlybitter

Now that I'm actually switched to a Hyur alt for comparison, it looks like the Miqo'te is wearing the female Hyur starter set (save for the Light Steel Galerus) although in different colors. I'm hoping that it means that we can wear other races' outfits (with different colors of course), but I doubt it.

Though if it's true that it's only for "artistic freedom," I'm going to be very annoyed with how much of a tease this is...

Just artistic freedom. The Christmas event did a similar, people wanted the gloves/christmas puppy/christmas behemoth in the artwork on the website advertising the event, but they weren't available in-game.

Miqo'te skirt, the gloves and boots from the first three dungeons(the acolyte set?), the coliseum chestpiece(the melee/bard DPS one).

Now if only I could get the derpy eyes out of my head. It's like she has one side of her face sagging lower then the other.

Speaking of artistic freedom, remember when everyone thought this was going to be the WHM AF2 set?

Now that we've seen the teaser for 3.0, I can't help but be disappointed how "nun" like the real AF2 is going to be.

that is because ppl jump the gun, I don't remember SE has never say it is WHM AF2.

OP: that boots have similar version of it from the GC boots or the acolyte boots from sastasha, I believe

personally it looks like the augmented scholar skirt and a steel galerus

I can't help but notice how much longer and nicer the hair always looks in the artwork. Sucks that clipping is going to make our hair shorter till the end of time in XIV.

You know, regardless of whether this is artistic freedom or not, this thread does bring up an intersting thought.

What about having a second race specific outfit? I mean, it's nice that all of us start out with an outfit that reflects our identity as a Roe, Hyur, Lalafell, Elezen, Miqo'te or (soon) an Au Ra. But we have no element of choice, it's not even dyable later on.

So, two suggestions, and a prayer that Yoshi, the community managers or one of theatt team reads this;

1. A second race specific outfit to allow some element of choice to players with their starting attire.

2. Add a dyeable version of the race specific clothing, so that we can have a greater choice in appearance.

I'm thinking that a dyeable version would be similarto the augmented armors that are dyeable, omething that a player would unlock after unlocking dyes, and that it would be a dungeon drop of some kind in dungeons in the Haukke Manor/Brayflox/Cutters Cry series of dungeons - especially as these also cover the 3 main geographic areas. If the alternate race specific outfit were added as a drop item, I'd like to see it dropin dungeons such as Qarn or Arum Vale with have little other purpose or exclusive drops

I would absolutely love new race gear (especially if it's dyeable). It always made absolutely no sense to me that you were stuck with clothing that was sporting the same colors as every single other person of the same race as you.

I would love to be able to dye all armor. At this point, I don't see why they don't open that option. Before, I could understand that they were trying to keep a certain style in the game, but that was before the introduced glamours which now lets people run around naked in battle if they so choose.

Fixed it for you.
Hair rendering gives render teams nightmares. That's why the number of long hair options in pretty much every MMO ever made (as well as pretty much everything with 3D character models) are so small. It's always a choice between good hairstyles and armor clipping.
FFXIV is trying their best to give us both complex armor and good hairstyles, to mixed results.

Speaking of tails, I'm surprised there isn't a bobbed variant to use.

Make it work like FFXI and have three different variations of RSE, i'd be okay with something like that.

Ok that might seem a bit harsh to new starts. In that caes, make a monochromatic (drab brown for example) version buyable from a vendor in the starting zone, and make a dyeable version of the 2nd race specific gear set as drops for Qarn/Arum Vale.

Coming in 3.1 - females of any race can now wear a dyable version of their race's male and female starter gear.

Unless I missed it, nobody made the obvious joke that the loincloth is clearly white and gold.
