If they aren't willing to change the CE price I think you all should just settle with
the other options. This is just too much.
300$ for a tiny dragon statue, a blu-ray and book.
Jesus, that's absolutely ridiculous.
I think I'll just get the standard edition, I've already seen all the bloody trailers and the concept art will be online within the month. The dragon statue isn't anything like it was originally made out to be and is definitely not worth the majority of the cost of this CE.
Even as someone who has been campaigning to get info on CE and is a diehard fan... $300 simply is too much
I could buy this for 300AUD with serious buyer's remorse
OR
I could order a CE from USA, pay for exportation to AUS (~70) AND buy a 2nd AUS CE digital for about the same price... xD
OR...
Just pay for 16-18 months of subs plus digital CE for about same price, and be fully paid off with sub costs right up until 4.0 (or close to)! xD
Nope. Sorry, not going to spend $300 for a expansion. Far too much.
Wow....$300? For what? A statue? Images/Audio you can view online?....
Digital CE it is.
Terrible decision. Very. Very terrible.
Ugh, jumping on th "cancel my deposit, going digital CE" train. Can not justify that much
Has anyone looked into the pricing to purchase the UK version and get it shipped here?
There's no lesson to be learn here.
The Expansion itself is reasonable. Check the digital pricing. https://store.eu.square-enix.com/apa...eavensward.php
A$46 for digital standard and A$69 for digital collectors
It's the physical content.
We got pawned hard cause it seems our supplies are from UK where prices are already outrageous.
NA CE $130 and UK CE £130
As we are classified under pal region... we are bound by UK pricing which is disheartening...
Addtional A$230 for ArtBook, wittle dragon sculpture, bluray and special boxing...
why cant we have ours for 130 like everyone else lol im just gonna get the digital ce for 70 bucks i would of paid 200 but not 300 its too much
When I say that, I mean more in relation to their distribution channels as we clearly had the original FFXIV Collector's Edition for a much more reasonable price than this. Though logistics wise it wasn't as big and cumbersome, I'm sure if they planned better in advance they could work something out.
That would be awesome right haha! $130 for Australian CE!
But too bad not happening.
FF Type 0 CE was sold for A$199 where US was just selling for $100.
Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain Collectors Edition selling for $100 in US, UK for £130 and in Australia... A$250...
I was so certain that it would be between A$275 - $300
I do agree.... However I don't see this happening :(
Since we are under PAL Region.. most likely our items are from the UK.
Plus Shipping + GST + Profit made it so expensive...
Unless repackaging and have their own distributing centre here, we won't see this happening for some major products :(
Warner with Mortal Kombat X is doing a great job keeping CE pricing some what reasonable
what muppet made the price $300??
screw that...
Price is set by what the market can bear.
Australians, in the past, have paid stupid amounts for AAA titles and people will buy this CE also for the $300 and reinforce to sellers that they can keep increasing the prices.
The only way to stop these kinds of prices is to stop paying them.
I can only hope, the next expansion they don't try to screw people over, i mean its not about the collector edition being expensive but the fact that it was so limited and mismanaged that Europe and Australia started to panic over.
And this made us feel unwanted and made our exceptions low to the point of begging and when we do get it its somehow overpriced. now eb games could say its because local suppliers forced them to sell for $300 but this is just plain out unacceptable.
For the next expansion Square Enix, for the love of god don't short out the Euorpe/Oceania again.
And try to sell physical on the Europe square enix store if you have too.
Because at this point it feels like rejection more then supply management.
I could say the same for triple AAA movies with making the final movie a part one and two because soooooooooo many of them are doing that now but that is million people watching those movies. Telling millions of people to stop watching is time consuming because they wont get the message right away.
I'll just buy the Digital CE then buy the physical later off Gumtree... Screw that pricing and screw whoever thought it's gonna sell at all
http://apo.org.au/research/what-cost...-australia-tax
A parliamentary inquiry in 2012 solved the mystery of why Australians are charged so much for goods such as software and it's not due to cost, but regional pricing strategies. The games section on page 40 is worth a read. Basically we pay more because historically we have, and they have no reason to adjust prices to reflect the cost of business.
There is only one way to put effective pressure on this and it is to undermine regional pricing by buying from other regions online, which even after shipping is usually cheaper (which really pokes a hole in the "stuff is expensive to ship to Australia" argument when you find lower cost without the benefit of scale). The above example about AAA movies is correct, but the great thing is that many games are not AAA movies and actually move very little units; more consumer awareness that they can simply undermine the domestic retailers can have a good effect. I encourage people who are offended by these prices to simply not buy from Australia.
Weren't we named the most likely to pirate stuff by news and technology news groups?
You think that would be a good reason lol just saying, i don't pirate stuff.
Anyhow the reason we don't import a lot is because of region locks.
I just submitted an item request to Ozgameshop for the physical CE for Heavensward with a note that they will probably make a lot of money if they can offer it at a reasonable price.
You can also do so here: http://www.ozgameshop.com/request-an-item
EB Games just updated this morning the stand alone Heavensward Expansion for $69.95 for PS4 and $59.95 for PC
PS4

PC

Better than paying $90 for the Expansion + Full Game. Just need to know about the preorder bonuses...
I prefer physical over digital... call me a traditionalist. I admit, if I see the CE digital for a good price (If it comes to AU PSN that is...), I might look into it. As it is, a friend of mine is getting the physical and offered to get me a copy as well... not my money I'll spend if I get the physical.
And... I'm not a fan of online shopping. I've been burned a few times in the past, so decided to go back to physical only.
EB Games must be slow to update their site as despite saying 'preorders open Monday 30th at 12PM' on their Facebook page (presumably 12 PM EST), the Collector's Edition is nowhere to be found on their AU site. Figures I guess...
I know, I derped - I forgot my watch was fast. :p
Annnd... my debit card is overdrawn. Off to the bank I go quickly...
I not comfortable spending $300 on collectors so i gonna be left out of this one.
Normally i do get collectors but after everything that's happened i rather not support this.
But the rest of yous can still get it if you wish i not gonna stop people after making this forum.
US pricing around 170 AUD
UK pricing around 250 AUD
AUS pricing 300 AUD
I wont be buying it on sheer principle. I always get CE when i can because..well CE but 300 upfront online is just greedy plain and simple. If only every single person would boycott it for future pricing to send a message but there are people out there who will pay that so the cycle will keep on going.
Physical regular copy for 60 bucks, think that will be me this time...
