Pinkie Pie + Sword seems like a bad idea to me. :o
I think that'd be cool. We'll probably see it or a similar looking sword for DRK when heavensward comes out.
while we at it why don't we add the airship from 7 sephiroth for paladins and ignore the other awesome final fantasy's that should get some more recognition :P
jellous joking aside, i know a lot of people who weren't pleased about the cloud outfit and i bet if they knew the buster sword was going to be in the game it would brake 14 for them :c
Ffvi being my favorite, I liked the allusions to it, but too much is too much sometimes. We all need to be careful what we wish for, cuz nostalgia wears thin, and this game will lose any individual charm that's left.
give us some kind of iconic weapon for each from previous FFs. We already have a handful of FFXIII weapons
What about a Gunblade? But not Lightning's Gunblade, that one is lame. I mean the true and one Gunblade. The one that Squall wields (I also wants his clothing, either the KH version or the Dissidia version. But I'm fine with the original version too. Heck! I just want to wear his clothes! D: )
I had to stop and think...people want "iconic weapons" from FF games.
Other than names that carry from one game to another that get slapped onto different weapons, what ARE those?
Cloud's Buster sword
Barret's gun arm
Squall's gunblade
Tidus' Brotherhood sword
Lightning's swiss army gun sword
Wakka's blitzball
...what else?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNGGG
Tidus's Brotherhood Sword for PLDs
Barret's Gun for MCH
Wakka's Blitzball for AST - LOL
Buster Sword for DRK
Gunblade can't really be done well right now because there isn't a class that uses a sword and a gun in one.
How about Rikku's Godhand for MNK, Kimahri's Spirit Lance for DRG, Aaron's Masamune for DRK? I liked FF10 incase you couldn't tell.
It's not going to happen, as the Buster Sword already appears as one of the melee Limit Breaks (I still remember the outcry when the 'Crystal's Call' trailer showed a DRG using it!;)).
Because of this, you most likely will not see a Buster Sword as an equippible weapon - but then stranger things have happened.
Please god no.....
Why justify all the people named "xxxClouderothStrife27xxx" and the like?
We don't need 100 million Dark Knights running around in the Advent attire quoting every damn scene from 7.
I don't think there will be that much people, you don't see a lot of players cosplayed as the WoL or Lightning, only lightning hair is quite used I think, but not to look like her but because it looks nice, I don't think there will be a lot of these players.
Looking forward for the SAM job with Sephiroth gear veteran reward 1440 days !
Well, when we use Limit Break 1/2 for DPS, we use the Buster Sword... so its technically already modeled in the game.
don't shoot me.
These are two types of gunblades. Lightning can switch her weapon into either a gun or a blade. Squall's gunblade doesn't shoot bullets. Ever. The explosion transmits a shockwave that goes through the blade and that, apparently, increases its efficiency when you slash things. Fantasy games's logic. I can't argue that at all. As you say (And I agree), Squall's weapon looks way better in my opinion. Either the regular Gunblade or the might Lionheart, which is a super duper pretty weapon. And as a side note, in this game, you have a couple gun/melee weapon hybrids. The Garleans use them a lot.

That's Gaius's Gunblade.
http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...V_Gunlance.jpg
Nael's Gunlance...?
Edit: I almost forget about
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...Tol_Scaeva.jpg
Nero's Gunhammer.
Some Garlean soldiers also use gunblades. So, lorewise, having a Gunblade that looks like Squall's weapon doesn't sound crazy at all. So we can only hope. :(
Well, there's a bit of a tiny detail in that the Garlean weapons with guns attach actually function as guns, or use the combustion explosion as a way of amplifying the shot. In other words there's an actual bit of logic to them, with some of them based on real weapons (the gunlance never came into use because it's pretty redundant. The purpose of lances is to fight mounted riders, which a rifle or musket could do equally well. Moreover a musket/rifle with a bayonet basically IS a gunlance, just easier to use) whereas Squall's gunblade doesn't actually have a barrel to it and can't be used as a projectile weapon. We may actually see it as a glamour at some point, but probably around the time they add similar glamours for ALL classes. Plus the way the damn thing is held is awkward as hell. They'd have to redo the hilt at the very least. The Garlean weapons have much straighter hilts
I think they may be holding back gunweapons until we actually get a class that uses them, since the ones that currently do figure heavily into the story.
I would LOVE a gunhammer, though. I'd love the hell out of that...but we'd need a hammer class first ;_;
That's a very... modern list.
There's also iconic weapons from the classical era from before characters were resigned to a single weapon type. In fact, some FF iconic weapons have already made it into the game!

Herein lies the problem, though. When they incorporate weapons from the 8 and 16 bit games, only the names are important since most of them look something like this:
http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...VI_Advance.png
or this:
http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2..._Axe_-_FF5.png
And that's the BEST they looked before 7.
After that, we get the visual iconic weapons, which is what people want glamours for. At this point, the name is actually secondary to the appearance.
To give an example using real life, if I call a weapon "Excalibur," or "Mjolnir," the appearance isn't important but a certain degree of power is implied by the name. The only things required are "is a sword" (Excalibur) or "is a hammer" (Mjolnir). While certain contexts and versions of the weapon in modern times can elicit the name (for example, seeing Marvel's Thor's hammer would immediately bring up "Mjolnir") in general you can slap the label on pretty much anything.
The same ISN'T true for items created and popularized during the modern era. For example if I played this noise with this picture:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__sDEWIjQ_g
You would immediately know what it is. Even if I called it something else, like a "light sword" or "beam katana," to you it's just a lightsaber with a different name.
It's because the associations have changed. Thus why people have no problem wielding a weapon called "Murderous Mogblade" if it looks like the gunblade.
