I'm sick of it.

I'm literally sick of people telling me over and over and over in game how much my class suck (SCH) compared to whm and how i should just delete it and make a whm bcs a whm is soooooo much better at anything. I just had a wod run and 2 bards were bashing SCH over and over , telling me how much they suck at anything, they said sch is for lazy people that dont want to do mana management. They said all sch can do is do a bit of dps while WHM heals everybody. I am literally sick of it this is not the first time but it happens pretty often.

And no trust me its not me or my gear , i heal normal i guess 1.5k physick 1k fairy and 1.2k adlo. But no one bats an eye when they see those BIG whm heals of 4k crits.

I like scholar so much because its mechanically more intensive than any other class, but its even worth it anymore? i did only t1-t9, is it even worth it playing scholar anymore? since i cant compete with those big bad boys White mages.

SCH is fine. You were probably just being trolled, and by your reaction on this thread, I presume, is exactly why.

There are videos of SCH solo healing turn 13, which has the largest damage output of all existing fights currently. They are anything but weak.

If people are telling you that your SCH sucks, then it's your playstyle that needs work, not the job.

You're being trolled badly. Usually it's people trying to claim that WHM is the disadvantaged one (hint: both Jobs are very good at what they do).

O.o i'm a dps job only type and i even know that sch team up with a whm are the best team. I'm sure two whm could work in raids but at the end of the day what sch bring to the table whm just does not have.

Not necessarily. As long as everyone has >6.5k HP (thanks to Vit melded accessories and some respecs) and Virus + Dragon Kick is on Bahamut for each Gigaflare, you can survive with just a WHM.

That being said, SCH makes survival MUCH easier which is why many people argue it's the overall better job between the two.

No reason to sacrifice dps for vit. SCH can easily make the acc cap and stay in cleric for most of the fight.

Agreed, but in that direction we start getting into efficiency versus ability. My point was simply to say that it is possible to do it with WHM. I won't disagree with you though that WHM is lacking in certain departments and needs to get some love with 3.0. As it currently stands, both jobs can solo-heal all content in the game, but because SCH can do it while retaining important mitigation, special party buffs, enhanced debuffs, and aid to overall DPS increase (either through self or fairy), SCH is definitely the superior "job" of the two, even with its lack of pure healing output (simply because there really is no fight in FFXIV that absolutely 100% requires the healing output of a WHM, which causes the discrepancy).

Agreed. Scholars are actually the real OP healing job. Once astrology job comes out white mages will be black listed from most raids forcing SE to fix the issues at hand. Scholars do everything better then white mages and are superior in every detail. The only thing and this is more of a crutch then anything in pugs is white mage can clean up multiple fails at once faster.

the only thing whms got going for them is massive aoe heals/over healing, even then sch can aoe just pretty well with eos. single target healing and dps sch is superior. for T13 progression I out heal my whm during the second and third phase(we have a questionable whm) and my over healing is less. I definitely see whm being useless when astrologist comes out unless they give them some kind of unique skill that helps the raid.

Any raid healers worth their salt should know the following:

That said I find them pretty balanced.

Mostly anytime someone attempts to solo heal anything these days, they'll go SCH instead of WHM because a well-played SCH will have a higher consistent healing output over time and greater damage mitigation abilities from a single job. Personally I don't play SCH very well but my static's SCH is frickin' amazing and there's no content that I wouldn't be comfortable with him healing.

This is why healer gear sets should be job specific. White mages are out shadowed by scholars in raid and dungeon content. But who cares that white mage is underpowered because you can go scholar on real content with gear working for both jobs minus main hand.

Doing 180 DPS in T13 being SCH is a nice thing to have, but nothing one should use for bragging. People tend to forget that behind every awesome SCH in cleric stance, there is a amazing WHM who dedicates himself to solo healing certain phases, with SCH assisting during crucial impacts. Tunnel vision and self-glorification lead to a very selective point of view. There is a good reason why almost all statics bring both healers to the endgame.

Oh and... there is absolutely no content in this game that was not solo healed by either class. So your point about SCH being the master race for solo healing content is invalid. It all boils down to the skill of the said player and his group.

What a lot of people here seem to fail to realize that SCH and WHM create a synergy together. It's proven multiple times over; that having 2 WHM or 2 SCH is less effective than 1 WHM and 1 SCH.

Sure there are fights that have 1 healer type excel over the other, sure you have exceptions of groups doing difficult content like a breeze, but that is a very small minority, definitely not the majority.

Both classes are viable, both excel in one area better than another. We'll see what Heavensward brings.

I don't understand why people are bashing one class over another. We are in the Healer subforums, we should be bashing lousy DPS or Tanks :P

I still think healers have it alright - I've mained DRG since closed beta, a job that has been frowned upon by an entire community since day one. :P

I'll put it like this: I prefer playing SCH because I find it more fun due to more stuff to do. When I play DRG or WAR in single-healer situations, I will also always prefer having a SCH simply because I find them slightly more reliable. I'm probably biased by the numerous jaw-dropping stuff I've seen good scholars pull off though, but by no means do I hold that against WHMs. It is true that the healing jobs create a fantastic synergy when used together though and I can't understand bashing either one for being inferior.

This is the inherent flaw in the WHM design though, which is what many raid groups are seeing as the iLevel increase push the 2 farther and farther apart. The current WHM design has it as a one-trick pony. A healer, plain and simple. It doesn't offer much else. A SCH can support a party in many ways besides healing, and from the looks of it AST will be able to as well. This has many WHM players worried because, in order to stay competitive in the solo-healing arena, they need more party-synergy skills other than heals on top of heals on top of more heals. With the current iLevel increases, WHM healing is mostly wasteful.

I think the point is to redesign WHM so that it's equally as "desired" as SCH in solo-healing and on-farm content.

And this is not supposed to be a "omg whm noob, sch leet" post. I play both jobs in both 4-man and 8-man content, including progression raiding. Even I can see the glaring flaws in the WHM design. If 3.0 doesn't bring sweeping changes to WHM fundamental mechanics, the job WILL die out.

The "many raidgroups" and "many whm" you are talking about are in fact a 0.0000000001% fraction of the playerbase.

How many people/groups do you personally know which single heal T13?

The current meta seems to be: Take WHM for the raw healing, SCH does some shielding and mostly focusses on dmg support.


From a development standpoint this is a hard thing to balance.
When FCOB was new, would you have gone there without a WHM? probably not.
Gear will always lower the bar in terms of how much healing is required to beat an encounter, shifting the desired classes at the end of content-livetime, currently in favor to the dmg/heal hybrid called SCH.

I ran with a WHM in T9 about a month ago who was WELL over 8k HP. Had melded nothing but VIT. It was absurd.

Before Talking all shity, always think about that:

1# Do the Heal actualy know what he does?
2# WHM or SCH doesn't matter it's all about skill and then EQ.
3# Overthink it again maybe the Tank or a DPS just fucked the run up. :P
4# If you still think you could do it better then do it take the fucking book or staff and heal all badass!:cool:

Virus from a SCH or SMN is need. All other viruses are counterfeit. Succor can mitigate anywhere from 600 to 900 damage and sacred soil. i have BAD math skills that can easily be 20-25% damage mitigated
