Don't do Storm's Eye for a Ninja, do it for yourself. Storm's Eye is higher potency than Path.
So many times the mobs damage really doesn't matter (you outgear the content). If it does matter, then do Storm's Path. Otherwise, do Storm's Eye for the slight damage increase. Ninja really doesn't come into it.
If they overwrite your Storm's Eye, well, then they suck because doing less damage than they could be - but that has no bearing on what is best for the warrior to do.
The thing is, as a NIN, you're used to applying it yourself, and most random people you run with won't do it for you, so sometimes, when you do come across somebody who applies it, you overwrite it without even thinking about it twice. When I notice someone else is applying it, I won't do it myself, but often enough it turns out that that person doesn't apply it consistently enough, so I've to use it anyway. If you run with people you know and can rely on it works fine, but with randoms, not so much.
Most NINs open with DE, and most WARs open with SE to buff damage initially. WAR really HAS to do it because they need to pick up Maim on the way for a huge dmg increase. NIN has the same "2" in both AE and DE.
I would say, if you are talking about PUGs, just say "I'll keep up eye," and most NINs will respect that. HOWEVER, you better keep that buff up because they are going to start making frownie faces if you let it drop for too long.
If you are talking about your static, tell your NIN to never use it and adjust your rotation to accommodate him/her.
When you are going in public. Just do your Storms eye as usual, there are quite alot of new warriors or people who don't main warriors only do BB combo. Me and my Fc Ninja talked about it, and he never used DE while he's with me. I took a break due to personal life and after i come back he missed me (while technically my style of opening with SE) alot
Edit. Also, I don't see why it's bad to put storms eye. It resets your maim, has higher dmg than path. Also, path is not really needed 100% of the time. I only put it up when there is gonna be a big dmging skill from boss coming soon.
As a NIN it's probably because WAR's either:
A) Don't apply it or
B) Take forever to apply it.
I used to be happy about having a WAR in my dungeon since it meant I never had to do Dancing Edge...except the above reasons always happen so I take matters into my own hands.
I understand you frustration as I WAR myself but from personal experience and observation WARs do not upkeep debuff 100%. Leaving NINs two options throw it up themselves (may result in breaking rotation) or continue and hop the WAR throws in up within the next 2 GCDs.
Whenever I am paired with a WAR I start with Aeolean Edge to see if Eye is going to be applied. If it is, then all is well and I didn't waste it and we each know what is going on. If they didn't then that is the next combo leading into the DPS burst with TA. Please don't stop doing Eye, those of us that pay attention appreciate you doing so.
I rather keep dancing edge up myself in dungeons, reason being; I have yet to see a a random Warrior that can hold aggro against my opener if he doesn't do at least 2 aggro combos and I want to have it up asap.
just keep it up, you need maim for yourself, if the NIN want to reduce his own dps by apply DE, over write your SE, let they them do it
I always start with DE as the opener combo cuz some WAR start with the Butcher combo to gain high initial enmity, which is actually not a bad idea at all depending on gear disparity. As a WAR tank, the NIN in my static would often pull aggro at the start for half a sec if I don't start with a Butcher combo and I don't have my buffs up (such as on trash pulls), which can sometimes get him one-shotted. Granted, he has really high-gear and does insane damage but I'm a high-geared full STR WAR.
I've noticed if I open with SE that very geared DPS can pull hate off me with their opener, but I've assumed that's because my warrior relic is only at the Novus stage. I just check people's gear at the beginning of the dungeon, and if there's a huge disparity in the weapon ilevel I change my rotation. In the meantime, I'm working on the relic; halfway there with light and have almost all the Zodiac drops, so it'll get better soon enough. :3
It's been said already but I can't stress this enough: Communicate.
Let your party know what you plan to do.
