An idea for housing plot shortages

How about the Dev. team add a additional subdivision or 2, like have subdivision 1 (a) and subdivision 2 (b) and possibly subdivision 3 (c), I think this would be a good start for servers with no plots open or desired plots, being one that sees a plot that I'd like but their all taken, I'd have to hold out and hope they add more wards/subdivisions or the people move, what do you guys think? BTW for the first time since launch Zalera had a que time for logging in, which means more people are joining, so more wards/subdivisions are needed.

They should just make it so that if you haven't been in your house for 6 months or so that you automatically lose it

Just adding more wards would be the simplest solution. But it still comes down to how much the database can handle and how much resources they're willing to divulge to housing.

I still think apartments would be a good way to go.

Is it too much to ask for an area that instances in plots? IE, I go to lavender beds, it picks a random person's large house in large plots, small houses in small plots and so forth. For individual's houses, have the ability to teleport to specific houses.

I'm all for if you haven't paid in 3 months you loss it. Everytime I took a break from FFXI which included 9 months when I played Wow, I never stopped paying for FFXI.

I'm not talking about taking away houses I'm talking about adding more wards and/or subdivisions because its hard to get a house, I'd hate to see a friend lose a house because their job had lay offs/downsizing and couldn't pay for FFXIV or natural disasters keeps you off the internet for a few months had a snow storm to knock our power off for 3 weeks here, so just adding new wards and/or subdivisions would be a better idea.

How about adding a Mor Dhona housing area, and Coerthas just for the fun of it. I would love to buy a mansion in snow terrain.

The solution is add more wards or/and subdivisions (or even add new housing areas).

Take away the houses of inactive players is a great idea to convince them to not renew their subscription.

there is no solution because there will never been enough small plots for everybody. no matter how many wards are added the cheap houses will be gone in a hurry, i see plenty of empty plots in every ward i visit but few if any are the cheap small house, which means all the people complaining dont want to put 12 million into a house they just want to blame SE. if you want the house so so badly you can work and save up to buy it just like real life, nothing gets handed to you

Start looking outside your own server. Other servers have no plots open at all and no one here is complaining about the price of housing at all.

I wonder if it would be possible rather than make more neighborhood zones, which is a model that isn't sustainable as already proven in this game, to make a single house instanced zone instead. Each housing district has a path to nowhere, it would be nice if instead it lead to just a single plot that only created once the owner entered it. It would make it possible for everyone to own a personal house of any size.

Any solution that involves people losing the house they already have is no solution at all.

maybe you should get off the most heavily populated server then instead of complaining there are too many people here

I have a medium house and my FC has a house. The solution to housing shortages should not be "transfer to a different server" because you realistically can't just say "transfer to a different server away from the 300+ people you interact with over the course of a week"

Then you will want to transfer the 1000+ people those 300+ people interact with in the course of a week too? That's hilarious and ludicrous.

What a ground-breaking idea. I doubt anyone thought of adding new wards. We already know why they aren't adding new wards, it's a server space issue. Your solution does not fix that. Only way for everyone to have a place is instanced apartments or something of that sort. Even if they add more wards there will still be people left out and complaining about it.

Or they could take the empty ward servers from the unpopulated servers and give it to the servers that have been full since they added them. Or you could transfer you and your FC to a less populated server at $20 a pop. Or they could actually make personal housing instanced for each individual so EVERYONE is guaranteed a personal house. Or they could ignore the problem altogether because its "working as intended."

either way, they have already said that the team that did housing is now working on the Gold saucer and wont even have time to look into housing until after 3.0 drops.

I'm with the "haven't paid for the game in six months you lose your house" crowd. I'd say, even refund the purchase price of the plot and the permit to the player via Mog Mail in the chance they do resubscribe and have their belongings sent over to the housing NPCs like they were kicked from a FC. This should also apply to FC housing where no one in the FC has logged in for six months. Last person promoted to the FC leadership gets the house's money.

In the real world we call a neighborhood with abandoned housing like that "urban blight." Just because the houses aren't going to physically decay doesn't make them any less abandoned.

The last update to housing districts literally did this already.

Also, if it was just that easy do you think we'd have a housing problem right now? They can't possibly meet the demand due to technical limitations. They need to expand FC room functionality.

I want a personal housing instance in the Floating city of Nym, bet that doesn't happen.^^

Ishgard housing is likely.

I say personal housing sound be in an instanced area like somebody said above where only you and your current party/alliance can enter. Housing out in the actual wards should be reserved for FCs only.

I think that is already in place and set at 35 days. Same with an FC house.

When I was a child and didn't know how the world works whenever my mother said she couldn't afford something I'd just say "get more money from the cash machine then!"

That's what the "just add more districts" complaints sound like. They have said why it's hard to add more, gardening makes instances impossible, people just ignore them and insist it can work with no knowledge of the logistics of it.
