How about an Auto-Attack Time-Bar?

While auto-attack is great, sometimes it doesn't proc properly, other times your out of distance and don't realize it (sometimes due to the terrain?) etc.

So why not just add in a little bar that goes from empty to full? When its full you know auto-attack is ready to use.

This might also bring in some strategy about when to use abilities and such adding to the tactical part of the battle system.

And of course you'd be able to turn it off.

I'd love this actually, it would bring back some of the older FF nostalgia. I've actually wanted this since FFXI, how i hated seeing "The enemy is out of range."

Not really I don't think they mean to reintroduce an auto attack skill because then it wouldn't be auto attack. Just a gauge to show the auto attack timer, I think it would be nice actually.

yeah i want auto attack to stay, just have a timer so you see how long till the next attack. And it would be good specifically for ffxiv because of the lag issues. Like animations aren't always necessarily instant and sometimes it can get confusing as to when the next attack will come.

This could be a way for FFXIV to really set itself apart, simply be taking this idea and running with it.

See, what we could do is make it into sort of a quota system. As your auto-attack timer fills up, you can manually time your auto attacks! If you wait until the auto-attack gauge is full, you can let lose with an immediate barrage of attacks, or you can pace yourself and release them as available. To keep it balanced, we'll need to make different skills use more of your auto-attack gauge, but with a bit of tweaking it could be a really dynamic addition to combat.

At the very least it would have to wait until the promised server fixes. The cast bar doesn't even work properly right now; with the current system I can't imagine an auto-attack timer being anything but an annoyance for being wrong the time.

That'd be pretty brutal to have it, but it doesn't work properly...

We had that it was the stamina bar. This idea imo i fail. Sorry for AA we the current system is just fine.

A display for the auto-attack would be awesome. I very much like the idea of keeping things as-is, but just adding a graphical count-down display... you know, like every every skill / ability out there. Its such a minor thing, and wouldn't affect people who don't care, but those of us who like to eek out every bit of skill and perfection it would be just the thing.
