well it looks like SE listened, yes it is on the FFXI site, but since it has to do with the account system, it will apply to us as well.

Easier Payment Options (08/23/2011)
You, the community, have clearly expressed your dissatisfaction with our billing system transition—and we are listening. We now understand that the options we presented you did not meet the level of service you have come to expect from Square Enix, so we have been working hard to address these concerns.

Accordingly, we will be extending the transfer cut-off date until we are able to implement the following improvements:
- New credit card payment options for Crysta [Available Now]
- The ability to specify exactly how much Crysta you want to buy [Early Fall]
- New recurring payment credit card options [Mid Fall]

We hope these steps show our ongoing commitment to you, our fans. It is our goal to make the FINAL FANTASY XI experience as fun and rewarding as possible.

Also in the days to come we'll reveal details for new offers and incentives to help ease your transition to the new system.

We sincerely thank you for your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XI.

true but no there about 2-3 topic about the great news :) but w/e i happy about it and now i'm not worry about paying for ffxiv when the time comes.

yep i guess people don't understand that FFXI is right under FFXIV if you go to the billing system you see both list there. So whatever billing system ffxi get we also get it. which mean if ffxi never got our billing system we had to deal with it too they ended up making this new one lol.

SE said they give us few month saying when this goes p2p i don't see it happening to ps3 release lol.

Well I am simply speculating, after all. That being said, I must have got my seasons mixed up being in the southern hemisphere where fall is still a good six months away. :p

And that's the reason I wanted to create a stir in every corner imaginable. So we accomplished that and we can let the other thread die down!

I was eating Ramen soup when I saw someone in the FFXI forums re-post that and I thought it was a troll at first until I found the official thread. Needless to say I set the nozzle to spray and covered my desk with pork noodles :/

They certainly can't say we didn't try! Now let's hope they keep it up and make sure every region has payment options!

I am very pleased with this announcement and hope they will continue to develop their payment system, and that they will make sure everyone in every region has at least a few choices on how they can pay for this game.

+1 for this SE, keep moving in this direction. :)

Uh IDK about you but I spent money in order to buy their software to play their game...so damn skippy they should say something. They got my money...

Also...I am a bit concerened where Crysta and C&B isn't accept in certian countries...I hope they do take into consideration a form of payment that can be used ANYWHERE so those who want to play won't be left out.

because I made this topic before they started talking about it over there, and if you even look at the last post, they seem to want to let the thread die, now that we are getting acceptable payment options.

Good news indeed - just hope it applies world wide and isn't restricted.

I'm glad to see it's not just me picking up on the fact that all we've seen is a North American producer's announcement with no clarification on how far this reaches.

Normaly the infomation apears on the EU page the morning after.... Colour me worried

Yes I do find it odd that SE only addressed the issue for the NA FFXI playerbase. There's a slew of other regions more affected by this than elsewhere, where their monthly fee will be doubled or they won't have access at all, like Australia. I, like many am ASSUMING they'll be adding payment options for nearly everyone.. But I also know you can't always depend on SE to do the common sense thing so we'll see.

If they're still gonna be screwing regions over though, I'll bring back the other thread until it gets addressed. Right now, we're just waiting for October~ish to see how it pans out for EU/AU.

I would like if crysta was available in Australia for my boyfriend though. XD I hope they add options for countries who only have one option.. or less.

Strictly speaking, this is not true. Australia DOES have the ClickandBuy option. However we also have one of the most tightly regulated financial systems in the western world, which is also one of the reasons we came out on top of the Global Financial Crisis. What it means is that there are tighter regulations for C&B to follow.

For example, they can't just automatically begin the card-verification process. They need our permission for that, which I have NOT given them as yet. So I do not yet know if my bank will block their transactions or not. But given that other Australians have had their tests bounce, I am kind of expecting mine to as well.

So I'm waiting to see what happens. If I can be billed without going the verification process, C&B are less likely to get red flagged for the legit transaction (I suspect placeholder charges throw up these red flags, as they're a rather dodgy concept) and it may actually work for me. Of course that's not guaranteed. If my payment bounces due to a red flag from my bank, I'm not paying via that method. Full stop. I'm scared this will be the case (or worse).

But if new payment methods, including Crysta, are extended to Australia, I will be a happy camper.

Probably because it was mainly NA base complaining about it since aside them, there were importers in countries who SE doesn't even officially support (e.g there's no Korean version of FFXI/XIV.)

Yeah, I think you've been scammed if you're paying for XIV monthly.

The reason it's not accepted in some countries is the same reason I can't use every service in Japan nor could I use Paypal in Japan for quite a bit -- It's just not accepted in some countries and it's a part of life, sometimes legalities come into play which is why they can't offer certain options somewhere, especially if the country isn't officially supported. Hell I bought 3 CE's for me and my family, so I'm pretty sure I paid money, however this is regarding monthly payments which FFXIV currently doesn't deal with it nor will for more than likely another year at minimum, so it's not something that affects us.

Even then it's tied to the SE accounts just like XI is, so whatever XI does regarding payment, XIV does. This is why I say it would be surprising if they tell us how we're paying for XIV before we even begin to since it seems like an announcement that will be made when we start paying. Nothing is set in stone till fall anyway.

Wow imagine that.. SE said to please be patient because they were looking into this problem, and they actually did!!! Can you believe it?

Well now, that is good. Here's hoping us Europeans see the benefits and all, though...

Good to hear they recognize the outside-of-EU issues as well, although I do note some vagueness in the commitment for other countries. It is only semi-clear if the new recurring Credit Card option in the works will apply outside the EU.

It also does not properly touch on the topic of where Crysta is or will be available in the future. This first two method promises are only useful to you if you live in a Crysta-region already.

Sounds like they're well on the way to reforming the payment system. I hope they keep that level of commitment in the future and try to avoid such roadbumps....

Thanks for quoting that Thal, is appreciated. One thing I'd really like with the eventual PS3 launch is to pay through the PS3 as I am doing currently for DCUniverse Online (though I guess both are technically Sony probably makes that easier), particularly as that also means I don't need to get involved with any billing web-pages or such from my PS3 - always felt bad using PlayOnline through my Xbox360 though things have improved a lot for all services since then.

The best thing about all this is getting away from third parties - I barely trust sending money to a company directly over the net never mind some slimy looking company like Click and Buy! Very pleased with this, and look forward to seeing what options there is...eventually...for now I'm happy to pay nothing *grins*

There is still no news on the XIV front about any of the changes to the payment system, why? Just because we arn't paying yet, dosen't mean we haven't put our credit/debit cards into payment info WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS?

You answered your own question. We aren't paying yet. We already know what our payment options are going to be once the game goes pay to play - it'll be exactly the same as with FFXI because they both use the Square Enix account management system. They've given us two very satisfactory responses on the PlayOnline site. The first detailed an outline and timeline for the changes for NA customers. The second did the same for EU players, and mentioned that other regions would receive updated payment options.

If you have already signed up with ClickandBuy, you are advised to cancel that account and contact your bank to change the account number of the card linked to your CnB account.

After cancellation, call the number on the back of your credit card or on your statement, tell them you may have been a victim of identity theft and request a new account number.

After that, go into your SE account management and change your option to Crysta for the time being.

What do people think our interpretation on "mid-autumn" is?
