Since giving us more inventory/storage options seems such an impossible feat...

Could you at LEAST allow us to trade items among characters on the same account already? Seriously, the RMT threat is not going to make more of a win out of it than us honest players would.

You said the armoire is reaching its capacity.

You have yet to give us any answer whatsoever regarding the Armoury Chest or Inventory expansions.

You have given us only the option to have at most four retainers, and for a real cash fee at that too.

New jobs are incoming, gear seems to be staying shared by at most one or two jobs, and every patch comes with new sets for all slots, not to mention the seasonal events like Heavensturn which come with four of the same thing in four colors, when you could just give us one that we can dye.

My inventory is choking, and I'm approaching the point where I'm considering skipping some content because I simply do not have the space to keep the loot that'd drop from it.

So please, at the very least, allow us to share items with other characters, including untradable/unique gear of course, because that's what is bringing most of the issue: the Unique Untradable stuff that I can only toss and then pray for the RNG god to let me have again should I want it again in the future.

It will not fix the issue, but at least it'd ease the stress for a little more time before we return to remind you of how absurdly low this game's data capacity is for the content it offers.

The innate trade off of allowing one character to switch freely among classes on a single char, is that there will be less characters on any given account. Yeah some people max out 8/8 chars on a server, but most have only 1 char on an account. Why? because there is no need for having more than 1 char on an account from a calculating standpoint.

Why is the game design so stingy on inventory space, given there is far less individual character data than on most other games of the genre. We have 20 classes. we essentially need 20x the space, furthermore we are barred from freely sending items between characters on the same account to utilize this lack of foresight or inconvenient cash grab.

I couldn't agree more. I like to collect gear sets for glamour purposes, but where am I supposed to put them all? We can't buy dungeon gear back from the Calamity Salvager, so temporarily ditching it to make room isn't an option. I have seasonal gear that STILL can't go into the Armoire.

If you're going to give us the option to play all classes on a single character, then we also need to be given the inventory space to match.

At this point I'm very seriously contemplating making alts for different jobs simply because I don't have the room to store all of the gear on my main.

You know, if a glamor catalogue that saves all the gear memory that you can use for later is too much hassle for se. Why not just add an npc that sells all the dungeon gear but you need to do a dungeon x amount of times to be able to buy them. Can have achievements for the check. Kinda like calamity salvager for event gear.

I got 2 additional retainers - and one retainer is ONLY for my glamour gear and materia - there is no space. One retainer has all miner stuff another leather and animal stuff and one botanist an cooking stuff -uuuuuuh and with all 4 retainers I still am lacking space... Please do something about it. And I love to have event stuff, and i got last hadsets from the sheep thing and I still can't put it in the armoire.... please I really need more space or something...

If you haven't figured it out by now, the reason for the limited inventory is to cut costs. We get 300 slots in our armory, 100 slots of inventory, 200 slots of retainer space (for free), 15 slots for key items, 10 soul crystals, 14 equipment slots, and 18 slots for shards/crystals/clusters. That's not counting things like Mailbox, Market Board, Chocobo Barding, and retainer equipment space. That's 657 inventory slots per character. And its not as simple as "Has item: 1, Does not have item: 0". Your regular items have data on condition, spirit bonding, dye, creator (for signature), glamour, and custom stats (like aethereal gear and relics). What this means is the memory required to store all this data is much greater than the common player may think, and thus, the server costs go up the more inventory space you allow. The two paid retainers are a way to cut the costs somewhat, by adding a fee for the memory your using, and whether or not you think inventory costs should be covered under subscription fee is an entirely different topic of discussion.

I can assure you that, as an owner of four retainers, with all jobs leveled, just by collecting -only- green/blue gear from lv15 and up, I do not have enough space to store anything past ilvl80.

(I'm still in the process of gathering the ilvl70 stuff, so the last four pages of my fourth retainer are still not occupied by gear as I keep them in my inventory to make sure I don't double-buy/double-bid. But once I'll have them all, I have no idea where I'll be able to put the ilvl75-100 stuff I've collected so far. I'll probably need to give up the GC gear...

I'd prefer if they added a Glamour Catalogue/Library, one of my retainers is full of nothing but old gear for purposes of Glamour, would free up over 150 slots of space if they added this.

ohhh yes! FFXI had NPCs that did this, though it was kind of limited to RSE and AF/Relic sets. However, it also had seasonal store NPCs, and later on, Moogle Porters, and many new inventories added too.....

I would like to see both ideas mentioned so far:

1. some form of armor/glamor catalogue
and
2. ability to mail ANY item to my alts.

Game needs both ;)

If you don't want to increase Armory chest, allow us to put more items in the Armoire!

Actually, in the case of the Armoire, it IS as simple as this. This is why the Armoire requires that you repair the gear to at least 100% before storing, and warns you that spiritbond will be reset to 0%. I believe it also strips your item of glamour. In the Armoire, either you have the item or you don't.

This is QUITE ACCEPTABLE to me, and should by all rights require VERY little data to store, literally a 1 or a 0 for each item, as you mentioned. Of all the things in the game that require memory, it kind of boggles my mind that this particular case should be any kind of show-stopper. The Armoire should be able to store thousands of pieces of gear, and still require far less data storage than even a single page of a character's inventory.

"In Heavensward we're going to allow you to hire up to 6 retainers to keep all your new items! Look forward to it!"

You're really not meant to hoard that much lowbie gear and I guarantee there's a ton of stuff there that you could ditch and you wouldn't even miss it.

It is far from SEs fault that your inventory is an absolute disaster, nor is it their responsibility to help you try to collect every item in the game. Seriously, why do you have all of that? You really need to keep every green or better than you come across?

There are people with everything at 50, that stockpile glamour gear AND craft a ton, and they still have plenty of inventory to go. It's amazing what a minimal amount of inventory management will do.

Signed, we need more (free) space to store stuff. In a game that encourages you to collect weapons and armor for every class all on the same character, there's just not enough space for it all.

I don't really need more space, I would prefer a smarter solution to keep leveling and glamour armor somewhere without needing one or more retainers just to hold those items. So I highly approve of some library system.
If we could put more into the armoire, it would also solve some storage problems already. As of now we can't even store the previous event items in there. :(

Yes, and lots of classes share gear, minus weapons/tools and some pieces here and there for BiS. PLD+WAR, SMN+BLM, WHM+SCH, DRG+MNK, and to some extent NIN+BRD. I do in fact have all classes at 50 and geared up. I can do 2-3 star crafting on all my crafters, 2 star on my gatherers, and all my battle classes are i110+ and none of my armoury slots except for the weapons/tools are more than half full. You really just have to manage your space, you do get plenty of it.

I agree that keeping every single piece of U/U gear may be excessive. But because of lack of storage options, I am costantly tossing or trading in gear that I would rather keep.

Been asking for years for increased armoire storage . . . would help a ton. For example, I would have loved to store a complete set of darklight gear. But because of inventory, I ended up trading them in.

I'd love to be able to send stuff to alts, I really hate that we can't. :( Heck, even just normal tradeable items would be fine! And they could always make some items "account bound", meaning that you can send them between your own characters (on a server of course), but cannot sell/trade them with other players.

Originally, I had planned to level Fisher on my alt, as it seemed like a fun little side thing and I heard it takes a lot if inventory space. Then I could just send fish to my main that I wanted to craft with. Because surely, 2.0 would have mail, right? Well . . . that plan obviously didn't work out for me. >.<

First retainer has glamours that I either use often, or are one of a kinds that can't go into the armoire, or are a general pain to get, filling up about 150 slots atm.

Second, Third and Fourth Retainers hold my crafting mats, food, fireworks, and extra furnishings, each one is at over 130 slots full.

My personal inventory has a single stack of foods i use often, every lure and a few baits for fishing, dark matter for repairs, retainer dyes, materia for remelding my relic, alexandrite, venture tokens, oaknots, and turn in items I need for gear upgrades. That takes up 60ish slots.

So yes, there is a bit of an inventory problem, I could maybe shave off 15 slots if i got rid of fireworks, another 10 for furnishings, however my retainer inventory would still be mostly filled with gear and crafting mats, and a good portion of my personal inventory would be fishing lures/bait.

Tackle box + Glamour Catalog would easily free up over 200 slots of inventory, while also giving more options than what a player can feasibly keep if they want a reliable supply of crafting mats on hand.

To those that posted that I am "not meant" to collect the green pieces or asking "why I even bother": it's just what I like to do. I've always been a collector in every Final Fantasy game I've played, it's what I play the game for, and I've always been able to do it. Not everyone plays for high numbers of damage or to reach the highest average ilvl on the shortest time possible.

What I like to do is my own business, and should be kept out of the topic since I am not the only the one who does it, either. The inventory problem is there even for those who aren't collectors as I am, just look at the Main Weapon slot of your armoury chest in Heavensward. If you level all classes, it's going to be at 23/25 at that point, just by keeping ONE weapon/tool per class. The inventory system as it is now is not going to keep up for long.
