Mount abilities

So I've just logged in for first time since the patch, and every time I try to ride a mount that has abilities (magitech, gobbule) it's pulling up the abilities. Last I checked this is tied to the pet hotbar which I have disabled.... Why is it showing up? I can't turn it off and I can't dismount now without going into the mount menu since my dismount hockey is now on a hotbar I cannot access.... Please help. And change this back or give option to customize this hotbar and/or reassign the mount abilitys to regular hotbars.

And on PS4 for clarification, only use controller and crosshotbar

Can't you click on the mount icon in the status bar to dismount?

Not very easily when playing with a controller.... Especially not when I'm used to being able to just hold L2 and press <-. Can't even get to status bar without changing to mouse mode and then trying to fiddle to remember what is left click with controller buttons.

You can't click the left joystick in (or hit l1+r1)? there's no hotkey needed to dismount easily with a controller. beyond that, simply tapping the crossbar scroll button (r1 by default) will take you off the mount skill bars

PS4 default dismount is L3 button as long as no enemy is targeted. In case you didn't know or set it up differently. If an enemy is targeted the camera will snap to that enemy.

I hate this change so much. It already worked before when it needed to (ie: in dungeons/quests with interactables), so all they added was that the mounts with abilities suddenly overwrite your primary hotbars (both cross hotbar and regular hotbar) for no useful reason at all. You can't even modify the pet hotbar to put a mount/dismount icon on there.

For those not using a gamepad, in order to feel this with a mouse imagine if the mount icon only appeared when you were on your pet hotbar (or some other hotbar that you don't normally use) and was otherwise completely invisible and un-clickable, so you always have to switch over to the pet hotbar before you can right-click to dismount. And then add to that your pet hotbar reverts automatically whenever you change zones, so you can't even leave it primed for dismounting if you plan on going to a different location.

For now, I would suggest making a macro that changes your main hotbar back to 1 after mounting.

Just press L1 and R1 at the same time to dismount, if you play with controller

I like this update, I haven't put my petskills on a hotkey so I always had to click the ability 3-4 times for the game to react and understand that I wanted to use that spell, and then click on the ground
Now I can use "1" and click on the ground and its so much more convenient for me

As part of a quality of life improvement in Patch 2.5 we made it so when interacting with objects that feature actions (such as the cannons found inside Castrum Meridianum) the abilities would automatically appear on your hotbar/cross hotbar, instead of being displayed exclusively on the pet hotbar.

However, as you pointed out, we have confirmed that this change is happening to field mounts as well. We are planning to address this issue and we will update you as soon as we hear more!

Golden Magitek still needs its abilities!

Perhaps for fun you could change the color of the flame/sparks on it's mount-abilities once implemented (versus the original Magitek).

I have no problem with this, im also on PS4 and find no issue at all, i press L3 to dismount.

Well, I guess since this was obviously a mistake I don't really need to put in my two cents but will anyway. I play on PS3 and was unaware of the L1 R1 meathod, but I have always placed all my mounts on hotbar 5 which is tied to R1+Dpad Up so for me its as simple as a quick switch to get to the bar and just hit any mount to dismount the one you are currently on. It's not too big of a deal, just takes some getting used to.

I didn't even notice the change somehow, though now that I think of it my fire spitting abilities did come up while mounted (the fire drake being the only mount with an ability I typically use). Using a controller it was easy not to notice the change since L3 is still the quickest, easiest way to dismount.

Can this be made an option though? I turn pet bar off and on my Ps4 can't access my mount abilities and have been enjoying the access since this 'bug'.

Thank god. I was just complaining about this today.... I use controller to do gathering so I can sit back and relax while I do it without having to press much. This new change has me annoyed since I'm always mounting and dismounting so I have to press R1 each time I get back on to go to a new point just to dismount.

I agree! I totally enjoy actually being able to use my mount "attacks" without the pet bar being on. I always dismount with L3. I never even considered that this was a "bug"...I thought it was a nice QoL change. :D

Maybe put abilities instead of mounts on your main hotbar.

Maybe people have both mounts and abilities on their main hotbar.
I like to have a macro with sprint and mount roulette on the last slot in hotbar 1. I'm sure lots of people do something simmilar. You rarely use the farthest slots in a hotbar during a fight anyway.

Even if this was something which occurred by mistake, I'd like for it to retain as an option. I've come to quite like it.

I also thought this was a great addition, making it easier to use mount abilities. If the change makes it a toggle for the people who oddly like to have their mounts on bar one for whatever reason then everyone can be happy--but please don't remove it completely.

If we are getting some toggle for pet bar swapping, perhaps we could also get the ability to prevent newly learned skills from appearing on both the hotbar and the xhotbar.

Please keep pet abilities on the field to the standard cross-hotbar it's near impossible to use the pet-specific hotbar on a controller. Also it looks ugly when we have that whole row of empty icons just for one action.

You can hide unassigned slots from Character Configurations.

The thing that irritates me most about this change, is that every time you zone on your mount it swaps you back to the pet hotbar. If I've made the deliberate decision to swap back to my normal hotbar, what makes the devs think that I want to see the pet hotbar again every time I change zones? This doesn't even happen with REAL pets, why should it happen with my mount? This is the only instance I can think of in the game where changing zones changes your hotbar, and I don't like it.

I always use L3 to dismount. That's the key that lets you draw your weapon but when mounted it does nothing but dismount you.

I also never had any problems with those pet or mount hotbars since R1 lets you switch back and forth between them and the normal hotbars.

I actually enjoy the change XD. It makes a lot of sense. I dismount with L3 anyway :).

The 2.5 change seems to benefit console users, but PC players are let down here. There is currently no way to stop the pet hotbar automatically making itself appear.

Why was this change made anyway? Cavalry Drake's "Fiery Breath" has absolutely no use outside of a few quests.

Please make this change ASAP SE.

Personally I actually enjoy having the mount bar replacing my first bar. Under normal circumstance, you shouldn't be using your hotkey bar while mounted. If this is such an issue, then don't forcibly make everyone either accept mount first bar or regular first bar, but allow the option to choose between the two since some people actually like this "bug".
