The irony of certain people zerging hunts.

Trying (and I mean TRYING) to do hunts and no matter how quick I am I never get to a hunt before it's pulled since 2.5 and I look around afterwards and what do I see? Lots of people in a fair amount of Dreadwyrm gear.

So wait a minute... Ironwork gear and the Caboncoat/twine items in hunts is primarily for people who can't raid or don't have the time to commit (ie. casuals) yet there are people who can CLEARLY raid in Final Coil and get the aforementioned upgrade items in there along with i130 gear anyway zerging the hunts and being impatient about it to boot, but said people are quick to call people casuals and show off their FC gear.

OH. SWEET. IRONY.

Some of the Ironworks gear is BiS and there's only one upgrade item a week for an entire static. *shrugs*

Who ever said that hunts are just for casuals? Open world mob = fair game for anyone.

Also healer , tank and bards get upgrade tokens last. So they need to do hunts.

Its for everyone. Hardcores care about gearing up for progression.

well the first two of whom are the ones that have it easy on the hunts to get full credit too. I suppose the devs really did plan this one out.

It's almost as if it's possible to play more than 1 job, and that coil doesn't magically rain enough items for everyone to gear everything.

I still don't understand why everyone is in such a hurry to farm upgrades. Me and a few others in my static are sitting in i120 gear and progressing through T13 just fine.

The way the hunts work, you have to camp the spawn timers and keep track with it all around the clock to get a decent amount. Casuals who don't have the time would not be able to do any of that to get enough seals for the carbons within a reasonable time frame. Hunts are easy but it's almost as hardcore as the relics, time sink wise.

The irony is both on you and se, for thinking that hunts is casual friendly. CTline weekly is the more proper way.

That's exactly what I do, pre 2.5 it was fine, you got the odd douchebag ninja pull but pales in comparison to what it is now, now it's mostly high ranking FC's ninja pulling because "f**k everyone else we are superior to them".

add them to wod now and also for gc seals , in fact there should be a chance for one to show in all expert dungeons as well. (not the normal 0.01% I mean a real chance)
spread ppl a bit and ppl can choose the way to obtain they prefer

They should just put the upgrade items in CT weekly quest and out of hunts there problem solved.

The real question is why it's not like that already. For a game that seems so dead set on making casuals feel good about themselves, it's a rather odd choice to try to shove them into the most toxic environment possible.

It's already known that people will quickly organize and shove as many people at A and S marks as possible, which will inevitably result in waves of angry people all over the place. Why create the exact same situation as we experienced when Hunts were introduced? (Actually worse now thanks to higher average item level, probably higher player base, and stuff like GW plugin which helps prevent you from even having to talk to another human in order to find out where hunts are that you didn't find yourself - leading to a drastic increase in people actually at the hunt mark.) Would have been smarter to either a) not put twine on hunts b) put twine elsewhere at the same time c) put twine elsewhere FIRST or d) change how hunts work to make them less, uh, competitive.

It's especially confusing because you'd figure they'd want to drive people to "real" content (of which they introduced quite a bit) rather than loot pinatas. I mean, I'm all for free carbon. Just seems silly.

With 2 twine and 2 coat each week, it takes 1 month for each person in a static to get 1 of each. I can do hunts and get a twine in a couple days. Why wouldn't I?

I don't see the irony? There are tons of reasons to hunt even when you clear final coil. Heals get carbontwine upgrades last in most groups. RNG is not always in a statics favor either; your group can get the same (useless) drops over and over and over. You can also get glamor items and minions from hunts. I've been meaning to hunt again to get the GC chest. Last time hunts were popular all I did was spend my tokens on chocobo fruit seeds. D:

What I meant was that there was no need of it to :
=> gear faster, in order to
=> get the kill

Of course you can do hunts nevertheless to finish your BiS and/or gear alts, but there is no need of it, or rather, less of a need.

TIL raiders have faster casting teleports and their mount movement speed is faster than filthy casual players which causes them to always kill hunts before said casuals can get to them in time.

Thank SE for their questionable design decisions.

It's not that bad, and this is coming from someone who's semi-serious about raiding.

It's been 3 months since 2.4 launched, with Final Coil. I'm not going to act like it isn't an accomplishment to be happy about, but people have had the gear from the raids for some time now. It's commonplace to see people with 130 weapons, full 120, or some dreadwyrm pieces. It just isn't that surprising anymore, and no level of achievement is taken away for adding upgrade materials to hunts. I think the way they're handling this is a bit better than their last 'catch up' patch, too.

You still have to beat T11 in order to get the weapon, as opposed to the Sycrus Tower patch, where everyone was given free tomes if they got lucky. To get a carboncoat, you need to actually do 3 raids, and it's guaranteed rather than just random. You need to farm 3000 seals for a carbontwine, and while it isn't difficult, tome-based gear is never fully BiS. Even if a casual player wanted to, they wouldn't be nearly as efficient as someone who is rocking BiS, and they would also have to get around 3-4 more twines to even be full 130 on the left side.

Basically, anyone complaining about the availability of materials through hunts is mad at the fact that people with more determination than them can actually progress further, and faster. And as for raiders...People who raid still want upgrade materials, too, just so ya know. They're probably impatient because they know that the alternative is just waiting their turn to get it much easier, in their preferred method. I know this struggle, because I'm in the same position.

I think you're very ignorant thinking that raiders are somehow guaranteed a drop every single time. Have you ever raided before? Do you know of RNG?

I have been clearing FCoB since the 2nd week of its release and I had nothing to prove that I had cleared any of it until 5th-6th week when I finally found my Dragoon boots. Nothing is more frustrating then going into coils and hoping that luck favours you by:

a) Hoping it drops your gear
b) Hoping you can out-roll the other tank/healer/STR or DEX user (for accessories)
c) Hoping you can out-roll 7 other people for carboncoat/carbontwine

Granted, "b" and "c" are for non-static parties (like myself) because some people don't have the luxury of finding a static party.

Now with hunts being relevant again, I was able to finally obtain my first ever carbontwine. It goes without saying I upgraded an item that's BiS (as many people have already stated).

I don't "zerg" hunts. Don't make us all out to be the baddies just because you've seen or assume Dreadwyrm players always pull the Mobs first. When you do get around to raiding only to be disappointed week after week, let us know!

You only get 2 carbontwine per week for 8 people that isn't enough to gear out your whole group. There is a lot of iron works 130 that is BiS over dreadwyrm so people that do raids must do hunts as well to gear up faster.

The REAL irony in this are the people who claim players running final coil have no need for mats from hunts , yet the casuals who are grinding WoD obviously require upgraded gear for... progress I guess?

heh, why not ? Until yesterday, I was falling under that category (just got my T9 kill ^_^ wiping at each T10's trash pack was fun) but that doesn't mean I won't try to progress, even if I'm terribly late compared to some other people. Only people who should not complain are those who do not want at all to run coil (not even trying to tackle T9) as all the items they want will eventually be in the WoD and easily available. Hunts are just a bonus, both for raiders and non raiders.

What are you saying? You realize that in some other "MMO", they have raids with 20-25 people, some bosses only drops 1 or 2 tokens or a specific item for a bunch of people every week, and yet, all these people eventually get their gear. Are you saying people who raid have to have everything at lightning speed? It's just like how people here are talking about how casuals don't need their gear at lightning speed either. It's not about the speed and it's never been. The fact that it drops from coil just shows that hunts are far from mandatory for raiders AT ALL to get geared up.

Beside, hunts suck and is a terribly designed. You think it's fine? Well good luck proving that to anyone, the fact that everyone here is arguing about wether it's good or not is the proof <_<

You totally miss the horrible RNG system suck so much in this game and the ever-growing loots pool just make things even worse. From my own experience, farming t10 to t12 for the last 4 months and the total of loots I got for my MNK, my raid class is 0, a very round absolute zero. See what I meant???

I'm right there with you, My group has only ever seen the monk gloves and necklace once each, yet we have stuff going to the floor because we have had so many duplicates. Its actually starting to get quite frustrating.
