Why?
Having to party for the massive zergfest is the most redundant design decision ever.
It's pretty simple math. You have a bunch of 8 person parties vs a single person. Even some of the 8 person parties don't get full credit some of the time. A single player can't possibly hope to compete now that hunts are busy again.
Why dont we just get credit for just tagging it ?
I feel sorry for all the solo job healers that out put a Stone II before DPS zergs the hunt and boom gone.
I don't think it should be weighted the same as a fate tbh, who cares who's not ''contributing'' to a faster death, I doubt anyone is going to tag it and leave it and if so , so be it it'll be alive for 30secs top.....A ranks that is.....S ranks could be weighted just on a smaller scale , some people don't like the hassle of \sh ''HEY INVITE ME'' ''LFP'' i85 WHM LFP'' blah blah blah
It's based on generated eminity, or rather "hate".
If you're a healer in a party, all you have to do is hit Aero -> Divine Seal-> Medica II / Cure 3 spam.
It's harder for DPS. Which is why you should consider swapping to a Tank or Healer job for hunts.
I get full credit solo regularly on A-ranks.
Ignore the fact I'm a ~120 WAR with i110-130 STR accessories on spamming the best aggro-generating moves in Defiance the entire time...
Credit is enmity based, so DPS tanking with tank stance on is the best way to get credit solo
Why do YOU refuse to get a party? Why should they rewrite the code when you can fix this problem by just simply joining a party?
I thought early pulls were in issue on ultros.
Then I transfered to Greg.
I would prefer that a bunch of NM's appeared for a certain time, so when a party gets a pull its a fight just for themselves, other parties can grab their own NM and the fight would be a lot more difficult, people wont zerg this things and everyone will get their reward. Would make things simple.
I kinda like that it can't be soloed. You know, when you find position of NM in linkshell and dive to location to shout for party invite and annoy half of the server with it, there are also actually a few full parties of people who ran around so you could know that there is the NM. Why should you be able to just come, use one skill and run away with the same reward as others who spent hours scouting?
OP is right, the system is absolutely atrocious, making it a 1hit=full credit would make no difference at all, it would be even less annoying for some players.
Actually it would. You wouldn't have as many people getting there too late and getting next to no credit. That would make a pretty big difference in the amount of people getting full rewards. It's not a negative difference necessarily, but overall a lot more points will get handed out per hunt and that means its easier for people to gear up. It does have an effect.
What I don't like is when people shout in town.
Then you warp to the area thinking they will wait and like 10 others teleported from same town for it.
Then say dead as you get there, though coax people from town to come where it is and waste everyone's damn time.
Though I don't listen to shouts in town anymore because of that very same reason.
MMOs are meant for people to play together? There are plenty of SOLO content as it is anyways, but hunting is not one of them.
What is this everything for myself all the time attitude. Get your group together before hand, doesn't matter what you want queue for. But for example, waiting for people to get ready for T10, you are in North Thanalan, and you get wind of a A or S rank. Teleport and get everyone to go with you and everyone benefits. Similarily if you are on the PF for a T7 clear/learning/farm or something, go with 5 of 8 and invite the 3 that is shouting for invites, or don't, 5 is usually enough for full credit anyways. After the kill remove the 3 and go back on the PF waiting for party to T7 to fill up. There is plenty you can do while waiting, the key is getting people to play together.
Well i know, but hunts are already a faceroll, just give the players the gear, as long as they show up and hit the mob, it will solve some problems, like harassment from people getting partial or no credit at all, it's not that they can use this gear to beat something hard or Break the overall balance, i don't even care about ilvls anymore.
Oh sweet idea! Yeah! I can now show up to an S rank hunt with it at 2% HP and hit it with one arrow and get full credit. Perfect. Go for it!
Already acknowledged this one. Did you stop reading at that post or something?
There is certainly truth here. I don't think the change would be bad just pointing out that it does change things and not necessarily in a minor way when we are talking about upgrades for gear. You don't think it makes much of a difference but it drastically changes the success rate of random parties when the overall ilvl of your server is higher. Healing is easier, surviving big hits for dps and tanks is easier, and beating dps checks becomes more trivial. This is for both skilled and unskilled groups.
I actually liked the idea they did in FFXI.
Pop item trade to ???
What would be cool is if they had the same thing here, except anyone can help you only difference is no fast pull and the person who pops the monster is the person with the item and everyone who participated has a cool down for that monster.
Though problem is that if they sold items on market board they would be too much unless they added it to the grand company points the system they have now is good but I liked the ??? thing just my opinion
I know, the effect is there, it's not really bad, and i would be absolutely against it if hunts were something hard or required a min of strategy, but the reasons to not get credit are mostly coincidences, or in this case not having a party, be it because your shouts for it are being ignored, you don't have a hunt ls, or you're waiting for the DF to pop, the causes of you not getting credit are not related to difficulty, time sinks or lockouts, so it doesn't really matter nor is unfair for other players.
Although i think placing upgrade items in hunts is unfair for people getting these by others means, but once placed there, who cares.
Alternatively, they could just change this rule. Make it so DF only requires the same party when we Commence, just as we have to be on the same class/job when we Commence, but don't have to remain that way throughout the whole time we're waiting on the queue. It would take care of this issue with hunts during the queue time, and take care of the chocobo summoning issue at the same time.
Isn't that like the peiste treasure maps. Replace trade with Dig. And the monster pop and the group kills it together.
------------------
If people want to hunt they should hunt. If they want to queue on the DF they should do that. Why should they be allowed to double dip and do both at the same time and have no trade-offs or decisions to make? If you really want to be efficient with your time you need people, friends, FC, static and queue together and hunt at the same time. If you are not going to put in effort to do that and just solo stuff, it make no sense to turn group content into solo content. You don't need solo boneheads fast pulling everything just to get their quick 1 hit and run away and screw everyone else over.
Pull early if your alone. You'll get more seals....if you live.
There is some validity to the OP.
The basis for points should be raised. Tag the mob get 20 points, reach the hate/damage cap get 40. Now you have a system the benefits full parties (full points) and solo players.
They want you to play with people in a massively multiplayer game.
That much should be OBVIOUS. For example at a restaurant, the table next to yours full of people is not eating together with you or your party at your table (exception being some those gigantic families that need multuple tables). In short, just being in game together is not the same as playing together. So what was the question again?
Group rewards for group content requires a party formed by the group.
Hunts are group content, it is actually group bigger than just 8 in a party. You have whole LS coordinating and calling out marks and which ones to go to first and people all scouting. And you can build alliances of parties for hunts to hunt more effectively and efficiently. It is totally group content. Early pullers are the trouble makers that deserve to be blacklisted and repeated trolling must be reported to the GMs. A well known FC actually disbanded and its trolls left the server because of the terrible reputation they earned.
Which is kind of the point Cutie was making. You can be in linkshells and coordinating with people and scouting out hunts with them, etc. That's group play regardless of whom (if anyone) you're partied with. So no, you don't have to be partied with people to be playing with them.

im on my phone so I dont know your level but I assume its below level 50 so I will teach you something.
SE dont like friends playing together so you can only queue up for Expert and Hard dungeon roulette in a group. The rest of the roulettes you must queue solo. So no you will have to leave the queue id you want to do hunts while waiting for it to pop and get full credit.
Peoples argument is that "this is an mmo ppl have to play together" but I see very few posts about hoe roulettes can mostly only be done solo.
