Existence is reasonable, let's make things better

Is it just me or have gilsellers started to sound a whole lot creepier? (All the spam I've been getting lately has started off with the sentence: "Existence is reasonable, let's make things better.") So our lives will be better if we buy gil? I don't think so. I'm blacklisting around 40 names a day now. The gilsellers are really getting out of hand. I don't know if it's because a lot of people are buying gil or because few people are and they have to get real aggressive to compete for those few customers (I'd like to think the latter...)

Anyway I guess my point is just that gilsellers are becoming more annoying and creepy

The more they spam, the more SE filters the wordings and phrases they use. Their messages will evolve to be weirder and weirder over time in an effort to dodge the filter.

40 names a day though? I rarely get any spam at all on Phoenix... Maybe 1 every few days.

They're getting more respectful too! "Sorry to bother you....", haha. Also like the one that opens up as "No one is perfect lets make things better!"

Intentional or not it's pretty much working as a catchphrase to ingrain these advertisements in your memory.
I stopped responding to them months ago, although I am irritated that I can't keep the /tell chimes up without a few dozen false alarms.

Rmt tells are so bad I have to play with /busy status.

I had one that was worded "No body is perfect, let's make things better!" and all I could think to myself was "Well my body is perfect! So I guess this means I don't need your services!"

And yeah, the gilseller spam is getting so bad even on my server which isn't anywhere the highest population that I often play in /busy too just to make them shut up.

I think server activity right now greatly affects how much spam you get. I'm on Mateus (which feels lower pop I guess, I don't know) and I received probably ~10 RMT tells an hour. Not even exaggerating. I'm getting more RMT right now than I ever had before, and I've been playing for almost a year.

I can agree to the part that i am getting more than usually, but its mostly "only" 2-5 per day here on Phoenix.

I've got a WEIRD one once... Do your loyal playmate...

I'm on Phoenix too and I rarely get them but yeah they latest ones seemed abit weird. I can see in a few years time it'd be something like this

"Hey you Sexy! Come gut Sam Gi11! Ch33p gi11 for Do11ar"

It costs 400,000 gil just for your relic for one class. That's 4,000,000 gil for all 10 classes released so far and it will jump to 5.2 million if you have to do all this crap for the three new classes as well. And that's just for the vendor stuff, it doesn't include the market board 3* items you need to buy. I can imagine they might be getting some business especially from people who are crazy enough to pursue the relic on multiple jobs.

I barely get any on Balmung. I don't know if this tell I got was from a hacked account or an RMT, but the message was something like "Hey, let's clear Shiva EX! I'll carry you ;)" I responded that I couldn't do Shiva EX since I never unlocked it, but a few minutes later, the person responded with the same EXACT message. I assumed it was some sort of bot so I blocked the person.

My friend used that line in her new Raise macro and we almost wiped laughing in the middle of Shiva Ex. At least it's good for some things!

Lord Sephyr on Ultros puts it in his Party Finder & Shouts. I can't help but view it with disdain. Raise Macro's would be funny, but copying their advertisement catch phrasing is just cheap and dirty.

That message gives me some serious Lovecraftian cult vibes. Like, soon we'll see all the RMTs and botters rise up from beneath the ground (because no water traversal in this game) and form this amorphous blob of polygons and textures that will cause the servers to glitch out and all sorts of crazy stuff will happen because of it... I really ought to stop reading Lovecraft =/

Creating a new character on Balmung is so impossible that not even the bots can get in.
(I'm serious, by the way - I feel like lower-pop servers have more bots.)

Some of them have been really weird. "Existence is reasonable" kind of made me raise an eyebrow.

I find that the rmt spamming seems to come and go in waves. It tends to increase just prior to a major patch before gradually dying down. I've been getting about a handful of tells while on Behemoth or Leviathan; it's usually then that I remember to set my status to busy. (The downside is that I have to remove that status if I want to be invited to a party.)

The "Existence is reasonable..." is a tad creepy and Borg-like.

I agree the RMT are out of hand. I turned off tell sounds entirely, which sucks when legitimate people try to send me a tell I almost never see it, but it has stopped the frustration I get when I hear the chime just to see another RMT tell for the billionth time.

In the past I've used /busy, but every time I disconnect, either due to my ISP or 90k's on SE's end, the /busy status is gone upon login, so the next RMT tell would go through and irritate me to no end. If it weren't for turning off the chime sound, I would probably have muted tells entirely!!

We see a surge in this every time there is a mass banning of RMT accounts. I think just before or after the holiday they banned a bunch. So now the Gill sellers have to buy new copies of the game, harvest more credit cards, gain more gill, and restock after a hit like that. Its why people were seeing huge mobs of BLM's in Thanalan all the same level, all moving in sync. After having to spend money to regain their assets they need to renew their efforts to recoup their losses. Its all buisness. I would hate to be one of them. I liken it to the poor telemarketers, I get a job is a job, but its gotta suck...

Healers in my FC have started macroing this into their rez spells and it is driving me freaking insane

LOL. I have also received this tell and I thought it was a weird combination of polite, creepy and hilarious. It HAS gotten progressively weirder over the last few months, I agree. I especially prefer the gilsellers who include something like "Sorry to disturb you" before they include their advertisement. My favorite, I think, was the gilseller that said, "Sorry to spam you."

Did this really happen? An RMT once said that to me and I guess I'm not the only one lol. It was weird to say the least.

Members? Not sure what you are referring to.
Do you mean like buyers of gil get spammed more because they've bought gil in the past? I feel like I get spammed about once every 5-10 minutes (sometimes more, depends on the ebb and flow of the RMT I guess) and I have never given a single cent to an RMT. Mind you Ive never gotten the "Remember me..." either...

Oh I was just referring to a common tell I receive from RMT where it says "members get more preferential" somewhere in the jumbled messed of letters and numbers they throw in there. That's all lol.

I get one every 15 minutes on Behemoth for several hours then it dies down for a few hours and picks back up. I put up /busy when I start to get irritated... usually have busy on for hours and hours all day it's kinda a shame. My friends could want to message me but they can't. I lost faith in SE managing to get rid of these scumbags.

They should just implement some sort of filter where we can add our words to the filter and if that word is used by the gold sellers, then their tell won't come through.

I shut off /tells no need to type busy anymore.
Another thing I don't think they will get rid of them. I'll give you some examples from when I played FFXI before they even put the filter in.

I remember Gil sellers coming in packs, if you seen one or one hacking, the GM would always say "well I have to see it" You ask them record video or picture "no because it can be altered" so no way to catch them like this.
Special task force I remember when this was put into FFXI, then I found it funny they always mentioned their reports you know the ones where they say they banned 5,000 RMT, though when you log on the very same ones are still there.

Each month I would see these reports and same RMT still playing, for Bismarck is was Cherrys in sky, Jerrys camping oztroja and redapples archer rings.

Jerrys used invisible teleporting hacks, cherrys bot claiming gods, redapples bot claiming also, though they played for years before they were banned I believe up until they made the NM's items into rare/ex.
then I seen them vanish, I found it funny though when normal players started to find bugs in the game they were banned.

I believe two found out how to get up on top of stuff or another figured out that nyzule 100 floor dungeon was duped items.
Though when a RMT figured out that bug where they were getting millions of gil from the bet guy from sandoria they just fixed the bug I didnt hear about no banning.

That's why I don't believe it sometimes cause the ones you see hacking sometimes never vanish for a long time and you wonder why he isn't gone.

Its just best you shut off /tells no use for it anymore and people say they just ignore it, I can't it fills my box up spams over what I am reading with gibberish and that's why I shut them off for good.

Oh and I am not critisizing anyone I just don't believe it sometimes.

And if your friends use certain words on your filter? Might as well just put in the entire alphabet and call it a day.

It is kinda bad on Cactuar.

It's funny, because there's an (unnamed for obvious reasons) 3rd party app out there that lets you set custom filters that stop ALL RMT tells without using a single slot on your blacklist.

Oh, but 3rd party tools are against the ToS, so you have to just suffer through them or else you'll have people trying to report you for blocking gil sellers.

I had one where the bot was like "Have a great day and may all your dreams come true!".

I'm sitting there like, "Man, if you weren't a bot I'd party with you", so I proceeded to joke about it with my FC saying "But if you block all the bots, how would you get encouraging messages like that?! Needless to say, I actually cleared my Black List about a month or 2 ago (yep, all 200 names) and have since only added 3, which I just deleted. My new system is if the same name gets me 3 times, they get added. Or instantly if I'm having a bad day. I understand that these bots need to make a living, but come on now. Give us an option to remove our name from the player search and that will go away over night.

You know, once I copied the message the bot sent to me then sent it back and sent him a party invite. I did that a bit and decided to stop unless a bot got cheeky and reported me lol. No way I'm getting punched in the mouth because of a bot.

Just need to have an option to "Only accept /tell from party, alliance, fc, ls, friendlist members", it might be anti social to total strangers but oh well.

My problem with this solution is that they will send you friends requests like 50 times a day instead =/ it's much more annoying receiving their friends requests.

That's why SE should give us a Option to turn off friend invites, when we want a friend invite we can turn it back on then turn it back off.
