Atma Book: Dungeon Boss Mark not counted due to death. Can we change this?

Because let's face it, there WILL be those cheap moments where someone working on their relic will get one-shotted, and the boss dies before the party can raise them.

I just found out about this, and needless to say, after a stressful run through Cutter's Cry where I ended up dead at the boss, the last thing I needed to see was for it to not count toward my Atma Book. I don't recall seeing that in the fine print for the Atma book anywhere in-game.

While most people can get through these dungeon marks easily, some may have difficulty with them. I'm hoping this can be changed to completing the dungeon, because honestly...99% of the time, that's basically how the task ends up being completed.

Yeah, but in my case, the boss was at 3%. So whether I did that or not, I'd still be screwed out of a completion.

Nope you can't release to start and still get credit. I tried it once. Why if I heal or have a healer friend along and see someone working on their atma I aks them to priorotize them for raises if it's not the tank that's down.

Yeah, from my experience, you have to run all of the way back to just outside the boss room to get credit... In most cases, not really possible before boss dies.

happened to me. Sch + nin refused to wipe ( np ofc their choice ) me and tank died and went to start. Put on atma and I ran to outside boss room and sch and nin duo the boss and I got credit.

Yeah it really sucks. When I was tanking a duty, I was unfortunate enough to have been partied with a newbie healer who talked more than he healed. At the last boss, he took some hits to the face, chatted instead of healing and took another hit to the face (how he managed that I will never know, the boss and I remained in one position). Tried my best to survive but I died around 2%... chatty monk who was the healer's friend didn't even LB.

For now, get a healer friend to go with you to make sure you get raised.

FYI it works that way because the Animus books do not require you to "complete" the duty. It requires you to kill the final boss in the specific duty. Like how you kill those 10-each mobs.

Something like that happened last night to an FC mate. Went into a dungeon, they lag-died towards the end of the last boss; I died raising them (had to hard-raise for that one - Swiftcast was on CD) to ensure they got credit in the assumption that the LB would kill it regardless.... they ran off screaming, "Your death will not be in vain!" LB'ed and died in an animation lock afterwards.... the LB had left it with a few pixels of HP left. We had to wipe on purpose, as there was no one left to raise them, and run all the way back... and start over x_x (the remaining probably could have killed it but then there wouldn't be any point).

Luckily this was with FC so we were able to coordinate that - but can you imagine if it was DFed and a few peeps in a hurry doing their weapon? I doubt many would drop that last few pixels just to start over again for one random stranger...

The way it should work for the relic books should be contribution based instead of being alive when the KO to the boss happens (similar to how your contribution to a fate determines your XP). I feel that it's completely unfair if you need the book, go through an entire hour for the dungeon and just because someone can't heal you properly you are instantly SOL.

I'd understand if this was FFXI, yeah sure tough luck. I figured SE had lost it's taste for sadomasochism but it seems that the original {Bastard Swords} who implemented the tough-love kind of grind is still pulling strings.

SE - CONSIDER CHANGING THIS ASPECT! It's completely infuriating to go through these dungeons with no reward even if you contributed the most just because of an untimely death.

Honestly, the relics should just be 100% drops form the bosses that anyone can loot to get updates as long as they have the quest.

But isn't that the same setup used for Light farming? In the way you only get credit once the last mob (the boss) is dead. Not by clicking the exit like the duty finder npc at the end.

The books, light, and zodiac are different.
The books reward for killing the boss, the light rewards for completing the encounter, and the zodiac rewards for completing the dungeon.
Which are 3 separate things, apparently.

Happened to me once or twice during this part of the relic for me. It is a little frustrating but not something I felt crippled me wanting to complete. As long as it's not happening during every book you do; you should be fine.

if it's happening on every book maybe the problem exists between the keyboard and the chair.
I mean, I'm not normally one to call someone bad, but these aren't the hardest dungeons. For most of them people don't even pay attention to mechanics anymore.

What's funny is even in FFXI for most things you'll register as completing it if it dies and your party is alive--even if YOU are dead.
