Hi!
You might want to post in the Brynny's forums http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/966-Brynhildr
There is several fc /individuals that like to have a friendly learn to play environment. Try talking with Matt (Stormageddon Oath in game)
Also feel free to add me ( Masha Buttons ) if you need help with anything~!
I continued having problems actually trying to find people to play with and help me learn the game probably. For the time being until I can actually find people to play with and make the game worthwhile for me I wont be playing.
EDIT: I figured I would at least explain myself before stomping off... Basically I play these games for human contact. So far I have only been in two FCs; one was inactive and the other I raged at becuase of all my problems thus far and not getting any help (thus starting me on the wrong foot with them; so I left). On top of this basically in any town I go into thee are hundreds of people but do they ever talk; no they just sit there almost like NPCs... This game may as well be a ghost town is no one is going to interact. On top of that I never read anywhere that you have to do the job quests in addition to the main story quests (maybe I just missed that somewhere) but that caused me some issues when trying to start up healing class while waiting for the ungodly 2 hour wait for a instance to begin (Come on; seriously.). So yeah; after trying to deal with the above I am chocking this one off my list of things to do until I can actually get a group of people that will play the game with me and teach me how to properly play this game as opposed to just running around in circles looking like a moron. It has just gotten discouraging and depressing... I dont need that from a game I am trying to have fun with.
Yah, Somehow this game I feel like an offline game.
I just started this game few days ago.
Well I am sorry to hear that you are not having a very good time. Just throwing this out there but it might just be the server you are on. Believe it or not, people on my server are pretty chatty. I see you have already leveled a good bit, but if you want a friendly group to play with you can always make a character on Excalibur and add us. We are pretty active, I'm on almost every night when possible and the same can be said for most of my friends. Believe it or not I'm kind of new to this game as well clear up until lvl 50 I did everything alone or with randoms and never talked. So I'm still learning myself. BTW yay for me on my first post. :D
I try another server, the i randomly add some dude to my friend list and request for his FC.
I got accepted after while, what I can see people pretty chatty inside FC.
I try this game because want to try a new style of play and being social. I'm really bored with my old MMO,
all we care is gear and do all stuff solo.
Want some laid back play style.
Meeting new players does depend on several things, your server or the time during which you play. Assuming those two things aren't issues it can take some trial and error on your part.
More than that it is about finding a group which jives with you. Some FC's and LS's are quite chatty while others, not so much. It takes some time to find a group of people you really mesh well with.
However, you should know that a good many people use voice chat in this game. So while they may appear very silent in game they are in fact quite chatty.
I'm sorry that you (OP) and nuyu11 are having difficult times in regards to finding people, but giving up and just not playing the game is not going help you find those people.
My advice to you guys is to read the game quest text. Even if you don't talk to people right away, the game does tell you to do class quests. Overall the game does a great job in directing new players with what they're supposed to do. It allows for a nice buffer from when you first start out to when you do meet people and are able to make friends. In regards to meeting people, just remain open and sociable and you will make friends.
Lastly, I understand that it can be frustrating for a new player. However, simply raging at people because they aren't doing what you want is ill advised. Raging will always create more problems for you than it will solve.
It's bit frustrating actually, because they put restriction on the server.
I try to go to Tonberry where my friend is, but it's blocked.
I'm from SEA, go to Jap server, but most of them are non English speaking.
I try UE/EU server, but it's empty because of different time zone.
For now I just playing alone with my adorable Lalafel character,
this race is the only reason make me hooked into this game.
ouch, that really sucks. Tonberry is one of the more popular servers to boot. >_<;;
Ignoring the capped server debates- My biggest advice then is to find out when the peak hours are for Tonberry Server. Avoid those times and do your best to create your character during off hours. I would also suggest trying to do it during the work week when you might have a better chance of having the server open.
I think if you saved your character appearance data you can simply select it quickly, name your character, pick a class and go.
Also, what other players have said is to make a character right before or after a maintenance. Luckily for you patch 2.5 is about to go live (still got several hours to go! >_<). I would update your client and just be ready, maybe you can get in quickly while others update and the like. If you cannot get in today wait for the inevitable hotfix patch that happens shortly after every big patch. Some layers will start to log out anywhere from 15-30min before the servers go down and that will hopefully enough time for you to get into Tonberry.
Keep in mind that this can take some time but keep trying since ultimately that is the server you want to go to and the one that best suits your play style.
Best of luck! ^^
Yah, I don't want to give up yet on this game.
Just started with collector edition, give it a chance till my game time run out then decide after that.
So far I feel like playing normal Final Fantasy, the different is it's not turn-based fight.
And at EU/NA server sometimes I'm having a latency issue.
I resubbed like an hour after I posted this cause one of the guys that plays who added me on Skype talked with me and we were in a Skype call. I guess the first FC I was in was just bad luck for me (cause it was so inactive); now that I have a good LS and some friends of mine that want to play I think things will go pretty well. Glad to see people actually responded to my thread. Now to just find a good FC; I joined another... Hopefully these guys mesh well with me; sorry for the rage... Just felt like I could get more out of a sub based game and now I am. If anyone wants to add me to friends so we can chat please do.
Oh.. nice to hear that.
English is not my native language, so speaking with it might be hard for me.
I'm glad that it is working out for you Risa! Sometimes all it takes is that one person to change things around!
This game has a lot to offer and I hope it lives up to your expectations.
Nuyu, you will experience some lag when outside of your data center. So if I played in the JP or EU data centers I'd be getting more lag in addition to both language and play time problems.
Do your best to get onto Tonberry since it seems that it will solve most of your problems!
Keep at it! ^^
Thanks... I try my best.
I'm looking to make friends also, but i think the server i'm on is very anti-social (Lich).
I probably switch server soon to NA and try if it helps.
I have tried talking to people on the server but everyone is minding their own business, i think the reason for no one saying anything is because what you are saying is not visible as text bubble.
Hey Callo,
I'm on Lich, sorry to hear you're struggling to find people to chat to in game. I found that to start with but now it seems to be the complete opposite. Just seems to be luck - some people mindlessly grind away but most are really friendly.
Hit me up in game with a tell and/or friend request: (V'nhea Bolf), I'll be on from about 7pm GMT tomorrow for the evening. I'm always looking for people to chat to and enjoy the game with. If you need a free company, the one I'm in (hired Uldah heroes) is always full of lively fun players and the chatting barely stops.
I agree... this game is hard for new starter.
The key I have found is getting people to play with; after that things fall into place. Just get your friends to play and find one or two folks who already play the game then you are golden. Instances are easier and late game is easier... Sure things have to be done solo in some cases but having friends makes it better and the solo aspects are not bad; Square has made them great enough to make it not crush your soul by having to grind the main story quests solo.
I played for the first 6months straight, took WHM through all content and now I have returned after a YEAR!!!! So much cool stuff! But I want more Pals to Pal-Around with I even made a "Pal-Around" LS T-T
Sorry Lich isn't treating you right :( Feel free to /tell me ingame anytime, I love helping newer people :D
I'm usually on at weird hours since it is an EU server but I'm in the USA.
Now I came from playing FF 11 back in the day and purchase the original ff14 - played it a couple times and quit. Then I picked up reborn game hope to rekindle the ff 11 days.
It's seems like the games is more quest oriented compared to ff 11 where you group and lvl. I really miss that group play even though it was boring at times. When does the game become more group oriented?
Il only lvl 10. So I know it's early.
Level 15 is where the first of the group dungeons opens up. At that point everyone has to group up to continue the storyline. (The game's Duty Finder will help put you together with other players if you don't find anyone to group up with on your own.) There are actually a trio of three dungeons at levels 15, 16, 17. Past that, the storyline alternates, with strings of solo quests interspersed with an occasional new dungeon. But since, once a dungeon is unlocked, you can run it repeatedly to gain more XP or gear, you can pretty much do as much group content as you want once you start unlocking them.
Dungeons are the primary group content, but you can also group up to do open world FATEs (at any level) or hunts (near endgame). Grouping to grind FATEs used to be more popular than it is now, but some people still do it, as it's a good source of XP. (Dungeons are generally a better source now, though, which is why the FATEs got less popular.)
If anyone in brynhildr world that has an opening in a guild could I please get an invite. I work swing shift so I'm on at all different time. Just look for an open guild that don't mind some simply questions that I might ask. Lol
That's for getting back to me niwashi.
Monks main stats = str. Or dex?
Monk/Dragoon STR Bard/Ninja use DEX
BLM/SMN INT WHM/SCH MND (though there some vit/piety builds for whm as well)
for tanks theres the usual STR or VIT decision
as SMN / SCH share arcanist as class can be tricky to put points but just try out both n in case respec as Keepers Hymn from GC is only 250 GC Seals now.
