The problem with ToT

I have been thinking this for a while now but why can't we get recover more cp than our max.

If i am at 398 CP, that is what my cp should start off with but i do not believe that is what it should be capped at. Especially when i pop early ToTs that would put me over the top.

Also a side note but it would be nice if i could use ToT on an Excellent Condition, doesn't have to recover more than on a Good but it would be amazing if it could recover anything at all.

I usually just do a Basic Touch instead of a Hasty Touch if I'm getting a ton of TotT procs early on (before my MMII).

I wasn't trying to be Capt. Obvious. I guess I just don't see the point in being able to go beyond your maximum when you could just prevent wasted CP gain by using it on skills.

None of my rotations rely on Basic Touch, CP is focused into MMII SHII and CZ. Can't exactly pop MMII at 40/80 dura, and a MMI would be a waste, so is a basic touch. Being able to go past the maximum would help quite a bit.

It would also allow for a rumination early in a rotation before popping inner quiet again.

If I'm getting a lot of TotT procs I'll sub in Basic Touches for Hasty Touches. I'd just rather guarantee an IQ increase than risk bad RNG on the Hasty Touches and not having enough CP to to do a MMII because, as you said, MMI isn't really efficient. However, I don't want to derail the focus of your post too much.

On topic: I would like to see the ability to use Excellent Conditions for something else. Wishful thinking for the expansion and new skills.

it would be nice to use exel procs on something else. cant count how many times Excellent procs had to go to waste because of Rng.
Maybe a skill that will turn Excellent procs into a greater version of ToT or even a small dura gain would be nice.

I don't think you understand how crafting works. Your rotations don't rely on Basic touch, because you are saving your CP for MM2 and Comfort Zone. That doesn't mean that using Basic touch is a waste of CP. Steady Hand II + hasty Touch = 80% Success Rate, SH2+BT = 100% Success rate. Thus, if you are full on CP, you have CZ active, and get a good proc, Basic Touch = same Quality as a Hasty Touch, at 100% Success Rate.

When people argue and say there is no skill in Crafting, it's follow rotation and reclaim out if RNG fails, this type of stuff is the small wiggle room for "skill" the minute brainpower it takes to figure this stuff out.

Did you really just make that comparison? Because if anything, it would be more like Adloquium which provides a shield, in effect over healing. But the overall comparison is flawed.

I agree with the hard cap on CP ^^

Like the other have said, I'll sometimes use Basic Touch if I know i'm going to exceed the CP cap, but I also sometimes refresh SH2 or CZ a little early, depending on stacks left etc, as I think those are sometimes a slightly better use of the excess CP, as Basic Touch does use a bit more than just the excess usually.

RNG likes to work against us like a boss sometimes, when it doesn’t I’d like to have my CP go above its max when I have CZ up and catch one to many “Good” procs in my starting rotation. No real reason why this can’t be implemented, because these 4 stars and book turn ins seem designed to remove the macro/one synth fits all scenarios, and CP going over your max would fit into this mold.
Currently, I’ll use PbP when at my CP cap and CZ still ticking, and this tends to mess up my already living rotation, but this isn’t about what I do. This is about why we are capped on CP and the interesting concept of when RNG is in our favor why it can’t exceed the cap when we are in the craft. It’s a viable question and worth a shot to think about and put in the forums to be seen.
I can vouch for the OP; he knows his stuff on our world and a reputable crafter.

Just open with comfort zone. problem solved.

It's not "problem solved" at all, I think we all start with CZ.

Though I don't personally think it's an issue anyway.
