A Chin-Tapping What If...

So we all know the Class>Job system is going buh bye as we move forward and to a degree many have seen it as a blessing as the original classes were pretty pointless once you leveled them. That made many long for the days of FFXI where most of the original jobs still have value even in end game where as here no one is going to tank Twintania as a Marauder.

But... what if, down the road around or maybe after the expansion Square began to revisit all the original classes and flesh them out more post 30? What if we saw a resurgence of the Rogue's guild story line and all new rogue specific abilities that made them a unique and interesting job to be late in the game?

There were so many great stories and guilds that just lay empty and forgotten now that could be rekindled as players are given the option to continue to work their way down their original path to be a master Arcanist or Archer.

It would create a lot of new content as players would do quest chains for both Gladiator and Paladin attaining unique abilities post 30 for each and creating a diversity and optional play style.

I hate to see all that great content just fade into the distance as we never think about them again and turn our nose up at what really were interesting classes. I personally LOVED the rogue and actually was sad to become a ninja.

I could see Pugilist as an arena fighter never seeing the DPS output of either Monk or Ninja but getting a taunt and stone skin like ability that would put them into a DPS/EmergencyOT position for fights where a single tank is typical, like Twin, but it would be nice 'should' something happen that someone could hold the boss for a couple of OH #&%$ seconds while things get back on track rather then bringing an actual low DPS OT.

Diversity, interest, these are things that honestly, as Square keeps homogenizing all the classes together on it's arrow straight path to Azeroth we really could use. Something to think about Square.... :)

Having both THM and BLM would be painfully redundant. :/ (as would most of the other classes/jobs)
Only ones I could see something like this working on would be Archer and Rogue.

I had considered something along these lines too. Like the gladiator could focus on 2 sword combat like the symbol shows instead of sword and shield. Arcanist could gain different carbuncles. There is a lot of potential here. :)

a Dev Rep came by my post about Post Epilogue Class Guild Storyline Quests a few days ago and confirmed that the current classes of FF14 will be given continuations of their storyline later as a future content...

Though if they provide new skills or not remain unknown but since only some of the Class Guild will obtain a continuation, I can only guess they will not provide new skills and only serve to continue the storyline where each Class Guild left off or provide a new issue the Class Guild will need our help with.

hmmmm makes me think that we will be returning to the original quest givers (lv.1-30) to increases our level cap to 60 and not where we left off with the 30-50 guys.

The terms job and class get interchanged so much, even within that thread that it was confusing as to what continuation people are referring to at times. I took that to mean they would be continuing the quests that we wrapped up when we hit 50 on say Paladin as we level them to the new cap, not necessarily the quests we stopped with say Gladiator. I would be glad though if they did intend those as well however.

I have a feeling that even though the "class quest" may continue we might see the "job quest" givers be involved via a potential integration of the class/job system. It's possible with the 3.0 threat and the Mighty Dragons that the first thought that comes to mind is Dragoons, what better way to train a mass supply of Dragoons than to speak with the Lancer guild and agree to exchange Dragon job crystals in exchange for their allegiance in fighting the Dragon threat.

With the 3 "jobs" being released it's possible that Ishgard is just well versed in their crafts that they not only know of the techniques those three fighting styles but they also have the job crystals to enhance the potential of those jobs to their limits. It's possible that those 3 jobs will be unlocked through Ishgard and Machinist won't be a guild that starts in LL otherwise it does undo my theory on that lol.

I thought the original idea was to have class quests end at 30 for DoW and DoM and have job quests take their place from that point on.

I don't think Dark Knight and Machinist Trainer will be in ishgard considering Dark knight may be a Forbidden or Forgotten Art so DK trainer is most likely a wanderer unless they make the Trianer as Scholar that study the history of DK like they did with Monk Trainer and Machinist sounds like something we will learn in the Ironworks HQ or from a Ironworks member some where in Eorzea.

I'm pretty sure se is going to tie up lose ends with the epilogues for classes with a few quests here and there.
Also it'd make sense if they were to just release all the new jobs in ishgard as it'd give more incentive to the whole " omg expac new city, must be loaded with things to do and see. Rather than just touch aetheryte look around and call it a day.

I like the idea of having a Job centered in Mor Dhona, actually. Especially if they're going to continue expanding the 'camp' into an actual fortress/village/town/whatever. (And I pray to the twelve that the next expansion of it will include a market board...)

Keep in mind that Job Trainers are not like Class Trainers where they have something like a Guild to bound them to a map region.

Being Jobs their Job trainer are not bound a location unless there is a Lore reason for them to be there.

While it would be simpler to just slap all 3 new Job Trainer in the Ishgard region there is still a chance not all 3 will be located within the Ishgard region.

So far it appear Astrologian will most likely to be the one centered in Ishgard region due to being a Job related to Ishgard.

Dark Knight lore is unknown so possible location could be in Ishgard but can also be located somewhere else like the new Flying Continent where 3.0 Main Storyline will lead us.

Machinist relates more towards Ironworks/Cid/Engineering so not much we can focus where the Machinist Job Trainer will be since Ironworks is a Oganization that has members in all regions except in Ishgard.

Source or it's not confirmed. If that was the system they were going for, I'd guess Rogue wouldn't exist. I don't imagine the classless jobs require much, if any, new tech.

And maybe not Twintania, but I have heard tell of MRDs in T6-T8.

Not really, SE has been very good about using "class" to refer to the non soul crystal ones, and jobs for those with soul crystals. If players interchange that, that's not SE's fault.

And since that thread was specifically reference class quests, I think we can safely assume that is does mean classes.

My bet is this. He is most likely talking about the crafting class as they are classes without jobs. As why would you continue some of the class quest, if not all?
