It's probably Sony's rules, they have to confirm that you bought the game with PSN check and didn't just borrow someone's disc and installed it. Also it serves another function in locking 1 PSN id to 1 FFXIV account for trophy purposes.
Definitely Sony's rules, I can't access Youtube without signing into PSN. >:(
So have it do the check/achievement the next time it's online? Or give a grace period without checking for ID (Say it can go 3 days without verifying). Steam doesn't give a damn about most of my games if the server is down, I just click play offline and go to town; it'll worry about those things next time it's online.
on ps4, unless you make that system your primary ps4, you will get kicked out after 15 minutes and unable to play anything. this entire time that psn has been down, i have been playing via ps4(i almost never log off).
I believe the reason why they force you to sign into PSN all the time is because of they don't want people to hack their consoles to run pirated games.
Square can't do anything about this.
Netflix doesn't require a PSN login. So there's no reason SE couldn't do the same.
When PS4 was first going to be released they were going to give the developers the option of requiring ps plus to sign into their games. Then Sony changed it so that all games would require ps plus. So yes they can remove the required sign in for the psn network. It can be done it is not an impossible thing to do. SE can absolutely request that their game not be required to sign into the network.
They make you log into PSN because that is the only way you can access the network stack in these consoles now. They unfortunately can't allow developers to create their own authentication schemes for platform security reasons.
No they were not and no we cannot. Not really sure what gave you this idea. This idea that they were going to make PS+ an option therefore PSN itself and option is a misunderstanding on your part.
Consoles are not an open platform and they must force authentication schemes in order to enforce device bans and firmware security updates. Sony will not allow 3rd party authentication to their device network stack as doing so will result in a completely unmanageable security threat to their platform.
You cannot play a game that accesses the network without logging into PSN for any PS3 PS4 or Vita.
Just stop, you clearly don't know what you are talking about. You are also a hypocrite that continues to perpetuate arguments while calling for others to stop arguing thier arguments.
And trust me, SE software engineers don't need a suggestion like this on the forums.
givin this mess I have to wonder if the devs have the option to use the old DNAS system that sony created and had them use for the PS2.
I do know the sony DNAS servers are still active so it might be an option. if it is an option perhaps SE should consider it.
OP, i dont know why you have a console, but im assuming its to play this game.
Sell it and get a gaming pc. you can build a gaming pc for around $350-400, mine came out to 380 and i have a R9 270 and play on high with no problems.
I've learned in recent weeks that some people really, REALLY don't do well with gaming PCs no matter how "simple" or "inexpensive" they are.
Remember, plugging in a game to a console will work 99.9% of the time, while on a PC every game you get has to factor in specifications, drivers, etc. Some people want to skip the BS and just play the game.
If other programs on the Ps4 can bypass these stupid gates then surely something can be done... but only if we push for it.
My issue with what happened is the time in which it took Sony to "talk to engineers" .. I mean seriously. No need to make excuses for their shotty behavoir and response to these attacks. If Xbox was able to recover surely its not impossible to expect Sony to preform just the same. I do think it's time for Devs to sit down with Sony. I think the two of them need to come up with better ideas.
You can't only try to change things if we stand up and say something. Remaining quiet is worse.
I play on a $300 budget PC that came straight out of the box, no alterations or upgrades involved at all. The idea that FFXIV needs a gaming PC to run is honestly false; its requirements are so low that you'll have a harder time finding a modern PC that DOESN'T meet them.
this might surprise you but the requirements aren't that low, there are quite a few modern budget PCs that wont run XIV good enough to play in situations like the HM+ primals. if anyone is planning to buy a budget PC please be careful and check the specs, make sure they meet the minimum requirements
Actually, I take that back, the PC I have only costs $250 now. I play on this and I've cleared all of the EX Primals save for Titan and Ifrit (mainly because I hate Titan and haven't bothered to put in the effort to practice) as well as Turns 1-8 so far. It's seriously the definition of a bargain bin computer-- it doesn't even have dedicated video RAM yet it runs the game just fine.
Always check the specs, yes, but if this thing can run FFXIV without issues, pretty much anything can.
There's very few things that actually get by this (even fewer on the PS4 now since a lot's been gated behind 'Plus' membership) and the ones that do are generally companies that have specific agreements with Sony to do so. I would imagine that these agreements are more expensive and therefore some companies might opt to do it while others may not. It's a business decision, ultimately, and likely not one that SE can do much about aside from ponying up extra cash... I don't know how likely that is to happen. We already get our requests answered in the most backwards ways possible, so SE's just as likely to completely drop PS support altogether as they are to do anything productive towards it.
See, this means very little as, again, the people who have trouble gaming on PCs are not going to have less trouble if the PC costs less or anything like that.
In addition, those that DO get PCs for gaming are hopefully not getting them for a single game (personally I got mine with FFXIV in mind, but i was using it as a benchmark since it has, graphically, everything I'd like in a game at this time) but rather a wide variety. The same with consoles.
However, a bargain PC that has no trouble running FFXIV may have difficulty running next year's super special awesome game. A PS4/Xbone won't. Yes you can tweak settings but again...the people who find their happiness playing on consoles might be completely deterred by tweaking graphics settings every time they want to run a game, and again you have to keep your drivers and other such things up to date to play newer games.
Don't get me wrong I personally prefer the versatility of the PC over consoles these days, but I'm also not kidding myself anymore to assume that just because someone opts for the console over the PC that they're less of a player for doing so. Everyone has different preferences, and thankfully this game caters to them as best it can.
I dunno about you but without the PS3+4 users this game was a ghost town the last few days.
My assumption was that the people who are posting on these forums have some sort of computer with which they're accessing the internet, so I was just pointing out that FFXIV can be played on a computer that has minimal specs-- in other words, your ordinary, low-end desktop or laptop. Basically, if you have a computer (unless it's several years old or a netbook), you can probably run FFXIV on it if you can't use your console for whatever reason.
tbh I actually think they did lift it lol because I signed in today and got the error code, then it bypassed it and I was able to login no problem
