SE, make it so that plants that...

are ready to be harvested are not prone to dying...there's no reason they should. People can ask friends to water their plants while they can't get online for whatever reason (lol lizard squad), but what is unacceptable is that people need to give their account's data (PSN ID and pass and FFXIV ID and pass) in order to prevent the "ready to be harvested plants" from dying by harvesting them.

increase the expiration timer for plants ready to harvest, but don't remove it

Usually a FC buddy pic the plants and send to me by mail if I need to stay away from the game for a long time. Cant you do that?

depends on FC regulations, some fc's dont let others even touch the garden etc.

Give me one legit reason why harvested plants should die.

Mine died when I was away due to festivities.
Best part about it is that my neighbors could not tend to it, since it was ready to harvest, so it died after 24h.

I felt cheated, why would they die if they're ready? This is taking the Role Play aspect too far imo.

In a FC several persons can harvest/tend the plants but in a private home it's only you.
It shouldn't be like this, really.

Could be related but also unrelated, an FFXIV APP to chat/check retainer/and update your garden would be nice. (For those without a smart phone perhaps it can be website based too).

Other people to tend/water them. As of right now, you can't do it on ready to harvest crops.

Does anyone know if people are going to be "reimbursed" for plants that are going to die because of the log in issues right now? They started maintenece at 9 pm on the 24th and haven't been able to log back in since because of the whole stupid PSN crap. I have 8 broombushes & thavnarian onions that are going to die because everyone in my free company is also on PS4 and no one can log in to tend them... That's a lot of wasted time cross breeding those damn seeds just to lose them because of log in issues.

While the plants are growing, you get 3 x 24 hour grace periods, if the guide posted online is correct. Plants will wither if they aren't tended for 24 hours and will die if they wither three times or are neglected for 72 hours straight.

I would assume this grace period would continue into the harvestable period, but it sounds like it doesn't. Allowing harvestable plants to wither before dying would not allow players to extend the crossbreeding time. If withered plants contribute to crossbreeding, players can already let them wither for 2 days 22 hours during the growing period. If withered plants don't contribute to crossbreeding, then this also isn't an issue.

They are extremely common already, there isn't a single seed that is sold well and has a very high demand, you can literally earn 5 millions in a day crafting relic recipes that have a brutally high demand...or struggle undercutting 9000 times 4 thavnairian onions to earn one million after 4 days.

But honestly, I don't mind, all I'm asking is for a solution, SE should anticipate this one way or another, it's not the first time these attacks occur, and it's not going to be the last time either, so they should give use tools to get ready when this happens again. Allow us to give permission to a friend to harvest plants works too. It shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Speaking of Moogle, I wonder if it would be possible to send a Moogle Mail from a PC or smartphone to someone on your friend's list?

That could be super useful especially in this case where they might be able to save your plants.

They should just make it so that plants only grow when you are logged in.

You can't water plants that are ready to harvest. That's the problem.

I wish your retainer could harvest your crop. Treat it like a venture. If you think you're gonna be gone pay like 5 tokens and they'll water and harvest.
