Our group recently hit a wall in T12 and I'm not entirely sure why. We were making great progress and had even been in the last phase (for a relatively short amount of time) and now we just can't seem to get past Bennu's.
We hit the same wall every time.
A few quick details about our setup: We run BRD, BLM, SMN, NIN for our DPS. We usually push about 5 Bennu's. We also sometimes don't have me, as the BLM AOE, at all because we sometimes have LB3 up. If we have LB2 up I'll throw out a rotation of AOE.
We're trying to push it so that every other Flames of Rebirth we are killing a small Bennu and then moving but the problem with this is sometimes the current Big Bennu isn't dead so we'll have two Big ones for about 10 seconds. Usually the WHM dies or the tanks die when we have one big Bennu and one small Bennu left and then it just falls apart from there.
Is this simply a timing issue that will work itself out? It's very frustrating to be in the last phase a week or two ago and now we can't even get out of Bennu phase. Looking for anything that can help out.

About how long after getting the 5th Bennu do you push into third phase? If burning an LB1/2 before third phase will get you there with only 4 Bennu, that's the way to go. 5 Bennu was always extremely rough for us (Similar issues), and then we would always hit enrage. My group runs the same DPS composition, and what really helped us get 4 Bennu on our first clear was SCH DPS.

Iirc we usually get that 5th Bennu around 56-57% so a couple of percent away. I don't' know how much our SCH DPS's. He's really timid about it. I know our WHM could easily do most if not all of the first phase by herself. No idea on the second phase. Sometimes our healers are getting rocked by the Brand's and sit pretty low on HP.

It is possible to tank 2 big bennus especially when the flames stack is lower.
Currently all our small bennus are dropping rather fast with BLM's AoE attacks, floor DoTs and AoE LB so we were facing problems where the small bennus are dying too fast and we kind of stopped a little to wait for the big bennus to spawn. So we just kill 2 small bennus if we have to and the 2 tanks take 1x big bennu and whatever small ones left so we finish that phase with as little flames of rebirth as possible.
I believe your team was falling apart because you guys were slow in DPS and the flames from 12 stacks onwards killed you guys.
On a side note, I have ate a 15 stack flames of rebirth before when we were learning that phase :p -

try lb1 as soon as it's up. If you can't push then, it'll usually be up a second time before add phase. 4 bennus makes that portion way more manageable!

i know it doesn't directly address your problem, but i would definitely shoot for 4 bennu. we were having the same troubles with 5 bennu as you, and that was immediately cleared up as soon as we got 4 down.

We typically shot for 2300 raid-wide DPS, though I think we got by with around 2000-2100 when we were less geared. Each DPS should strive to break the 400 dps mark for sure. We found that this was particularly difficult for our BRD even when he wasn't playing songs, so we would practice rotations and such outside on dummies until he could maintain 400+ on a dummy consistently before moving to the actual fight.
Oh, and we use LB1 on Phoenix before Bennu phase to make sure we push it for sure. It's pretty tough to hit those DPS marks with lower gear, so don't rip yourself up about it if you aren't able to do it immediately.

12-13-2014, 02:05 AMZeviandWe have our scholar bane the black fires to have 100% dps uptime on boss. If for whatever reason bane misses an add, our ranged finishes the blackfires off. During p2, the range takes care or the bennus, in our case the Blm and bard, so that myself (NIN) and monk have 100% uptime on boss. Before i130 weps I would lb1 as soon as it came up and then lb1 again when it was up again. You should get lb1 twice, unless dps is high in which case you're pushing 4 bennus without it and you can lb1/2 the bennus during p3.Quote:

We sustain a 2600-2800 raid dps for the first phase and try to maintain a 2400-26-- raid DPS for the second phase. We LB 1 the instance the Blue Fire is placed.
We run BLM(me), Bard, Ninja and Monk. Our SCH banes the Blackfires, and I follow with 2 Fire 2s to keep damage high on the boss.
The Monk and Ninja focus the boss while me and our Bard focus the Bennu's to help speed up the phases. -

Oh! I have a question for the Bennu phase as well actually.
Our Big Bennu stays alive for 2 Flames of Rebirth. The next Bennu is killed after the second Flames of Rebirth. Should we burst down the Big Bennu, then kill the small bennu before the following flames of rebirth? -

Only the Brd and the Blm take care of the bennus, and it goes really well, now with more gear and a lb2 we can easily go 4 bennu.

We kill the next little Bennu with our Ranged DPS when the big Bennu is around 40%. There is a delay when they raise giving the group plenty of time to finish off the big bennu before the next. We were pushing 4 Bennu with 7 i115s and 1 i120 weapon, which makes everything much easier.
During phase 1 and 2:
BRD and BLM only on the Bennu. We hold the bennu in the middle for 5 or so seconds for the SCH to Bane or BLM to Flare if it makes sense.
SCH can DPS the entire phase, maybe use a lustrate for a bad revelation. (big DPS gain here)
Tanks should be stance dancing hard. I am in Sword oath for about 90 seconds before the adds. (that's 10k ish more damage)
Another small thing we do is we use the tank whitefire to hit both the DPS and tank black fire. This means the DPS whitefire is not needed. This way the BLM/BRD can just back up away from the boss or the Melee can move to the opposite side with whitefire freeing up a lot of space around the boss. This means the DPS are required to move less and the raid takes less unnecessary damage. -

One tiny note, if you place everyone in the white fire, it's a very little gain to the lb bar, especially if some hit critical hp. Your white mage is normally casting med 2 anyways, so it's not like it's extra mp wasted.
