FFXIV Crafting Simulator

Greetings Crafting Community,

I'm here to announce a project I have been working on since October.
http://www.ffxivcrafter.com is a crafting simulator and recipe database.

Features:

• Recipe Database that includes ALL recipes up to patch 2.45
• Sharable simulations through a generated link
• Savable simulated sequences for use with other recipes
• All class stats and skills are saved via cookies

Last I checked, though, it doesn't quite get Ingenuity bonus with 4 star, though.

Other than that, however, it is great! Recommended!

Definitely.

Also, pro's of this site, when you make a new rotation, it will automatically make a macro for you.

and, unlike other sites, while you are making the macro, it will show you exactly what buffs are affecting you at the time you are picking the skill to use, so no more calculating in your head when comfort zone resets!

The simulator just adds CP when you use Tricks of the Trade. It's used to figure out how many ToTT you'll need in a synth.

Progress is just a hair lower than 3 stars, most the time it will round out to the same number.

INGII gives ~10% boost to synthesis steps for 4 stars instead of the ~30% on 3 stars.

Looks neat. Sure it'll never be quite 100% accurate because of the RNG aspects of crafting, but it should be a nice tool for getting an idea of what might happen.

Very nice tool, using it alot.

Small improvement suggestion:
make it possible to directly skip back from player details/receipe window to the simulator without receipe/skill window.
Deselectet skills get resetted and most of the time its just neccassary to change receipe or stats (if i want to test the results of food/buffs/gear)

Thanks this looks very useful I was building a massive spreadsheet in excel had everything from lvl 1 to 50 labeled and it would look up the item mats needed, costs , and locations ( but I was only able to finish it up to lvl 20 .... it was a bigger task than I had originally thought )

I've been using it for the past 3 weeks or so and it's by far the most versatile and easy to use one I've come across. Can't recommend it enough :D

only if i had found this yesterday, failed 4 times to HQ vanya silk. >_<

General feedback:
1) Cookies are a nono, most people disable them just goes against good coding practice these days.
2) I dislike the home page, if anything that should be an about us and the main page should be select your crafter.
3) Select your crafter looks nice and sleek.
4) In the simulator, you have the recipe on the left, the available skills on the right and the sequence on the bottom with a weird empty black space that draws more attention to itself than it should.
5) Asking for a donation is fine but you shouldn't be asking for one on every single page.
6) When you're already asking for donations, why are you shoving ads by google down our throat?

This is the best simulator I've yet found. I find it to be perfect for calculating how many times I can fail a synth and still succeed at a craft, and it's great for seeing how various rotations hold up vs each other. The best use for it that I've found is in determining what combination of progress skills will finish a given synth with a given set of stats. There's nothing worse than using a combination of skills you think will finish your synth only to find yourself a couple points short.

This is not a simulator that will tell you your estimated final HQ %. It does not take into account success chances or simulate conditions. It's purely a static tool for modeling various crafting scenarios. It answers questions like, what would my final HQ % be if I failed three Hasty Touches? and how many Tricks of the Trade do I need to get a 100% HQ chance?

The biggest downside / missing feature is that you cannot easily model failures or conditions. I'd love to see a feature added where you can mark specific steps as being failures to see how it changes the outcome. CP and Durability would still be deducted, but no quality or progress would be added. Also, the ability to mark a specific step as having a Good/Excellent/Poor condition, multiplying the quality gains by 1.5/4/0.5 for that step. It doesn't need to know any of the condition rules (like, excellent is always followed by poor, poor and good are always followed by normal, goods have a 25% chance of occurring, etc), it just needs to model the quality changes that the condition brings.

The developer told me he was going to look into implementing that idea when he can, along with a way to see the gains a single step provides by mouse-overing the step. I'm really looking forward to those changes!

First and foremost, my source code is NOT public, so I'm not really sure where you're getting your information, but it's false. Also, to claim that I falsely advertised would be to claim that I said it was 100% accurate, which I did not.

1) Cookies are the only way to store the information without requiring users to create an account on the site and store the information in my own database. So, for security, I chose cookies.

5) I have donation requests on the main page and the simulator page, because those are the two most used landing pages. (simulator page due to generated links).
6) I pay for this site out of my own pocket. It also took quite a while to code it. The ads help to pay for the site itself. People on Twitch ask for donations during their videos in an effort for compensation for their time and energy spent on their feed. It's really no different.

Cookies are actually annoying to code, as they have size restrictions per site.

The only security risk with cookies is the transmission of personal data or user login/password data over http between the client and the server.

I store only the crafting classes' stats, selected recipe, and selected skills as well as the saved sequences in the cookies.

Having cookies turned on is not a requirement for my site to function.

At this point FFXIV Crafter and the FFXIV Crafting Optimizer are functionally identical, but I love using them both. Good work!

It's called google, stop being lazy. Cookies are benign in nature but can be used to collect demographic data and invade your privacy :) I always love explaining things to kids who don't know anything.

To the OP, the site is nice but I do agree with xPee that the ads are overwhelming. If people like it they will find the donate button. The banners are completely unnecessary and make it looks like you wanted to monetize any site and FF crafting was your best idea rather than building a useful site that may monetize itself from people's love and adoration.

firefox + adblock plus + adblock plus pop-up add on + no script.

in any case, the point i was making it that most people that i know clear their cookies the moment the session is over. So it would be better to keep track of stats in a different manner than cookies.

I am not going to argue semantics with you. In a way you promoted a crafting simulator yet nowhere did you say that it doesn't work for 3 or 4 star crafts. I just think credit should be given where it is due. You did credit reddit but not the actual post on reddit, good chance you could get in trouble if you credited ffxiv.lokyst.net so perhaps create a thread and ask for screenshots and make your own algorithms, i and others wouldn't mind helping

1. Exactly the point i was getting at, personally i would have avoided cookies and have had them create accounts while storing the data. In my own case, all my cookies are cleared at the end of a session so none of that data is saved so the option to have an account would be valued.

2. In most web design choices the update section is small section or a tab interested users can navigate to. Personally i wouldn't have that as the main page but if you were really intent on it perhaps do something similar to the page where you select the crafters. Have the user select "General Info", "Updates", "Donate", "Simulator", or "Recipe List". At least to the general user, they are coming to your site to use the simulator and i feel that the main page should reflect that. Also doesn't hurt to have a how to use guide somewhere.

4. I haven't given the functionality too much of a test since the thing i really cared about (3 and 4 star recipe's) didn't work. The design and UI of the simulator is just as important as the functionality of it, i'm not saying this to offend you, just giving constructive criticism.

5. and 6. were addressed and i don't mind one or the other but i wouldn't use both, just a personal choice. I don't mind seeing ads but as i and others said, it felt overwhelming so perhaps you can scale down without eliminating them entirely. Try reaching a goal to keep the site running for a year like mozilla or wikipedia do, if you reach that goal through donations then the ads disappear for that year. Give people an idea of where you are in your funding goals for the site.

If nothing else, this is an excellent tool to find out before you perform a synth, exactly how many progress actions (and which) you will need to reach the finish. Without it, your very first synth of an item could be a case of trial and error, which means big money if it's your first time performing an endgame craft synth that comes out NQ because of a silly mistake.

The tool looks very useful. As a side question did you manually enter the list of all the recipe details, or is there some trick to getting that data out of the game?
