Okay, I gotta get this settled once and for all...

How in the world do you NOT die at the final Job Quest mission period? Almost every time without fail, I will usually die due to the fact I'm just not strong enough to handle getting pummeled to death until I get an Echo buff or two.

Monk Quest? Usually end up dead because I get jumped by the addons and too weak to handle the boss.

Dragoon Quest? When he buffs himself with Blood For Blood, I end up deader than a doornail.

And now Warrior, I end up dead even though it was one of the closest ones I had to defeating him without needing the Echo Buff(almost dead, and I learned painfully his Line AOE is one of those that still remains there and can get hit even when it disappears...or he hit a Crit at that exact moment afterwards).

I tried attacking the orbs that generate every time, no avail, tried outlasting doesn't work, how does anyone get through this without dying over and over?

It has been a while but there are usually adds that heal you when killed.
I remember specifically the warrior one and the monk one having these.

For warrior, there are two types of orbs. one heals you (blue iirc) and the other damages you. It's all a matter of saving healing orbs for when they're needed and ignoring damage orbs.

I did it one shot before the buff of warrior and nerf of the quest itself and while it's not self explanatory, it's pretty easy to figure if you pay attention to texts during battle.

For DRG, you have a refresh iirc, and maybe some orbs too (it's been a very long time ago for me ^^).
Second wind helps a lot too, and bloodbath as well

also, having i45+ gear everywear (i50+ for weapon if possible) helps a lot

uhmm orbs give you a buff, so when you are about to die attack orbs and you regain health...at least it worked for me and didnt die at all during that fight (maybe I was just lucky not sure lol). For the rest, I rarely had problems the only one that gave me problem is the Summoner one...for the others they are pretty much easy, especially if you have been keeping your gears updated. Now if you do those fight in lvl 40 gears you might find it hard but other then that nothing is really difficult. For the Dragoon I kept runing in circles hit and run hit and run..lasted a while but made it without too many difficulties.

It may take one round to adjust and see what you need to do other then that, there is nothing hard about those...I like them even ...

Gorge hits very hard, so you’ll want to dodge his AoE. But, the trick to the Warrior quest lies within the orbs. Wait till your HP drops below 3/2rd and then walk to one of the Inner Fury orbs. (I’m not sure if moving next to it is enough or if you have to hit it once…) These orbs will heal you.

If you find an Inner Rage orb, leave them be! These orbs will deal damage to you.

Save your Stun for when he uses Holmgang on you. Be sure to use Blood Bath and Inner Beast to heal yourself as well. If possible, you might want to equip the Convalescence (Gladiator Lvl 10), Second Wind (Pugilist Lvl 8), Internal Release (Pugilist Lvl 12) and Featherfoot Pugilist (Lvl 4) Cross Class Skills too.

So basically, the orbs are there so I can run at them to heal? Man, most of the time I just swang wildly(I didn't really ignore the text as the issue was that it wasn't clear enough for me.), I think my issue with George was the fact I aimed for the wrong Furies.

Monk and Dragoon was more of "I ignored the Orb for Monk and kept attacking a few orbs at Dragoon till I believe I saw no benefit and stopped" type of deal. I'll try keeping that in mind for the rest of the final Job Quests, getting tired of dying because I have no idea how it all worked lol.

I barely even remember the warrior fight at 50, even though it was my most recent one! I didn't even know what the orbs did.

...and I just remembered I was way overgeared because I had full noct from PLD and T9 axe...so my commentary is kinda worthless.

I do remember issues with MNK though, and I had even more trouble on WHM. I don't remember PLD at all, not even what I fought.

Luckily, you never have to do the jobs quest in 1.0. Better storytelling but much difficult fight mechanic, and requires a full party for the last battle.
2.0 jobs quest is a joke. Designed for casual player as usual.

Hi, I think it's normal you have some deaths, if not it would be too easy and not as fun. Normally there are strategies to be discovered. I prefer to have some difficulties, as long as they can be overcome without a lot of problems.

This usually happens in some class or job quests, some are easier, some mean several wipes. At lower levels you can always come back when you level a bit more and get better gear. At level 50, if it's your first job, it's a bit harder, since you will want to clear the last job quest as soon as possible, instead of gearing up, but if the gear is not good enough you might need to do it.

With other jobs probably you'll have good gear you have been obtaining with your main job if you didn't sell it at the GC for seals, and everything is easier. Even then it's likely you will die until you discover what to do.

In 1.0 you had to find a full party and DF wasn't a thing yet. The quests were challenging. Now it's just a big joke.

"a big joke" ? Do you realize many of the quests were nerfed to the ground during the beta (ok, low level ones)

As an example, lv15 gladiator quest was next to impossible if you had only leveled casualy. save yourself and the npc died. save him and you were the one dieing.

People complained, quests were eased.

Except for the WHM job quests, the stories are 100% the same they were in 1.x, word for word.

The last fight is more or less a war of attrition with the dragoon. Standing toe to toe with him is deffo a recipe for a quick revival. It came down to knowing when to strike, when to keep your distance and when to run away to wait for his buffs to fade. Its a tricky fight but fun ^^ its about patience and not rushing.

I haven't done the warrior one yet and I don't remember the monk one so I can't comment.

A few potions/elixers never hurts. You'll find that when you're forced to do things solo like job/class quests, they actually come in handy!

How to beat any final job quest: Pay attention!

They aren't even remotely difficult, especially when compared to how they used to be, or how other games typically handled final class quests.

When I got to them, I actually had a hard time with the final WHM and SMN battles. I was i58ish on whm and I just couldn't get that tree healed up enough and those adds down in a timely manner that didn't make that tree and myself die again and again.
I had to buy better gear and really focus down those adds.

As for SMN...I don't know what my problem was. For some reason I just couldn't quite make the DPS check in it and I felt dumb as shit... Lol, I couldn't even get out of the circle in time. XD

DRG final battle I was i90 for cause I had collected the gear and I beat that boy's ass into the ground.

I just did my level 50 warrior quest last night. Didn't die, but there was a period where I was running away waiting for my potion to get off cooldown and that's when the floating orbs started giving me Hp.

Also ended up in a desperate spot at the end of the battle and had to finish him off after snaring him with holmgang. I really felt like a warrior during those precious few seconds because it was all or nothing at that point. So much hype.

If I remember correctly, I died once in the DRG quest because of laggy dodge mechanics. Don't recall having any issues whatsoever with any other job quests. The MNK one was nice, I felt getting that Regen buff made it too easy, without that buff it would've been a very close fight.

Gear seems to be the biggest issue, make sure your gear is close to or over the quest req. If you managed to get a few tomes or seals buy something. If you are in good standing with your FC buy the gear and pop sanction. Carry some pots as well.

The most trouble I had was on my main as DRG. It was HARD. But I appreciated that because it taught me a lot about my job. On most of the rest I had gathered gear for my job that was like 80+ so I had no trouble XD Monk was a breeze, and Warrior too~ Had a little trouble with WHM but I hate healing so...

I can't say much for the others, but for the final Monk job quest, I died a few times also - till I ignored the boss when the adds spawned and downed them first with rockbreaker, etc... I think I may have also kited (after the adds) till second wind/potion came back off CD, too, at one point o_O
It's been a while since then, so I don't remember details, or if the ADDs had healed me or not (I guess it makes sense if they did) - I just remember having a ton easier time after ditching mister monk man for the adds (I don't remember what I was doing before then o_O ....too long ago, too terrible of a memory).

Try plodding Steel Peak to stun the guy to get an additional advantage of being free when going after the adds. I don't think I did this back then (so I'm unsure if it will work), but it's something I would probably attempt if I did this quest now.

I only recall having trouble with the PLD and WHM ones. After that point, I've been using those two classes to farm gear for alt classes. My WAR went into the final quest at i112 so I just kinda stood there and facetanked everything that Gorge threw at me. I remember kiting the DRG around a lot, now that I think about it. That quest is, as previous posters have said, all about knowing when to strike. When he uses a skill that locks him in place, take the opportunity to flank him for the damage bonus. You can stun him too, but that loses effectiveness after 3 stuns.

Definitely make sure you have appropriate gear. When/if adds pop up, make sure to focus them down.
