Yea, I was thinking SE would just start dropping potency on abilities. These changes I can definitely adjust to.
These don't feel like a nerf at all fortunately, more like slight adjustments. Thank god.
I was worried they would drop ability potency as well. In a sense they did nerf ninjutsu potency by a significant amount with the change to poisons but 200 less dmg on raiton isn't going to make me quit the job lol.
So Raiton will be less powerful? thanks.
Raiton is losing the effective 72 potency from poison to drop from current 432 back to base 360. Not a huge deal for a skill that is used at max 3 times every 120 seconds. It makes sense anyways to not have poisons buff magic.
Hm.... Fuma Shuriken, I summon you! Now you have a place back in my skills! 240 + 48 = 288 against 320? Uhm....Not baddish at all, counting I like the fact fuma shuriken doesn't stop so much my hitting rhythm as raiton does... Seem it wasn't all over for my ninja, yay!
Now all the doom and gloom people can stop, those changes aren't so bad at all!
Are these the only changes for certain? If so yeah not all too bad afterall, thank goodness
I would have to assume that fuma shuriken is still considered magic damage (unaspected though) considering its pulled from the ninjitsu list. Even if it was physical and got the potency boost from poison it wouldn't be worth using in standard rotation with lower potency and quicker return to dagger skills, it would start causing more TP problems and less damage.
In Leviathan fight, while doing a lot of nexus farm, I could use fuma shuriken in the tail that it didn't get reflected, while raiton, katon and suiton were.... Even unaspected magic like ruin II or ruin is reflected there.... Thus... fuma shuriken is not magic damage, it is ranged damage (Levi's head reflect it, but not the tail)
Fuma shuriken is basically a double potency, almost double reach Throwing Dagger. Still Raiton has more potency, indeed, and if you're running out of TP you don't really need to be so quick on attacks.... But I doubt it, I only had TP troubles before in AoE... I guess that 10tp more per skill can easily be solved with the every-2-min invigorate.
Now, what really worries me is....
AoE... Unlike my dragoon and monk doing AoE with the ninja is annoying, it feels like your TP action is just useless and now your katon and doton will be almost the same useless... This effectively reduces our AoE power by 20% that, have to say, was already poor compared with DRG and MNK.... (They clearly did this 20% less in Ninjutsu because PvP whiners... Then just change that for PvP). You can't waste all your TP neither because it won't recover in battle later... So... Or either you go two NIN for goad themselves or go always with a BLM for compensating your absolute lack of AoE?.... So let's see... MNK is the top 1 in one target and doubles you in AoE.... And DRG will be only slight inferior than NIN in one target but also doubling or even a little more in AoE.... Uhm...That silence + stun must be really awardly I guess.... (Since it is one of the poor excuses used for say they are overpowered)
Don't misunderstand me! I thought the nerf would be quite worse.... But....Damn, if AoE was already pathetic... I guess I'll just go to kill targets one in one even if the tank decides to do a big pull.
Interesting, I always just attacked the head in levi on ninja.. no problems with physical damage in melee and spell damage period. Its still not worth using a lower potency attack when it eats the CD of a nerfed but still higher potency raiton (unless of course you are getting around a magic reflect).
Nin aoe is still better then Monk aoe however, so not sure were it can be said Monk has better, or is it in regards to this nerf? Sorry if i misread what was said.
Dragoon has a edge over Nin and monk for aoe. I tend to only aoe every few turns to conserve tp anyhow but dot multiple enemies.
I can totally live with these changes
Huh, pretty much exactly what I expected. Except i though it'd be Dancing Edge instead of Aeolian Edge, but it has the same overall effect if you're maintaining both.
I didn't even KNOW about the poisons affecting damage, and it's a change that also makes perfect sense as well as calling a bit of attention to Fuma Shuriken since it's buffed by the poisons.
Yeah now they can move on to saying:
NIN is still OP despite the nerf
DRG is now OP because of the buff
the cash shop is the harbinger of ultimate destruction
Boob windows will spell the end of society
Lack of boob windows will spell the end of society.
Tanks in speedos are the worst thing to ever grace this planet.
The developers want to personally come to your house and shoot your dog.
Now that I think on it, if you want to feel already nerfed you just have to change raiton for fuma shuriken and then you obtain the damage that more or less you are going to do....
Let's explain this.... Raiton is 320 potency. Fuma Shuriken is 240. But fuma shuriken will receive 20% for physical attack, that makes it 288 potency.... Still a big difference, you think? Okay, then let's say that Dancing Edge buff reduces 10% of enemy's slashing resistance, and it does affect fuma shuriken.... So, I don't know how it is calculated, but if we take it as a 10% of 288 it would be... 316. If you take it as a 10% based on the main potency then it would be 312... Almost no damage difference and fuma shuriken is casted easily with rarely chance of failing because mudra lagg and with possibility of cast between GCD.
I guess Raiton will only be useful for PvP attacking other melees, or in enemies affected by Foe Requiem.
As I said, the sky is not falling.
Using my last T10 run as a bar, Suiton/Raiton contributed little less than 7% of my overall damage. With the 20% reduction taken into account, my DPS dropped by 4. Barely a nerf.
Uhm, now that you say it... It's true, 360 potency!... Stills... If you want to taste how the nerf will be use fuma shuriken instead of raiton, I already tried in some dungeons, I can live with it.
I'm fine with these changes and 100% understand the tp change
