Not quite spoilery observation

Conversations like this in the game bug me:

Minfilia - "Oh no! (NPC who you don't like and know is going to betray the Scions eventually) was injured in (an incident)! (NPC) is in really bad shape! You should go to (location) to see if (NPC) is all right!"

Player - *Nods mutely, and occasionally gives a thumbs up*


When in reality you want the conversation to sound like this:

Minfilia - "Oh no! (NPC who you don't like and know is going to betray the Scions eventually) was injured in (an incident)! (NPC) is in really bad shape! You should go to (location) to see if (NPC) is all right!"

Player - "Have that idiot drink a healing potion! Why doesn't the moron do that instead of panicing and calling you? They are less than 100 gil! Heck I will give you some gil to buy a bunch and give them out! Heck I have 99 of them in this magic bag I have, take them, I have more important things to be doing like killing another primal, stopping a Garlean invasion, exploring an ancient ruin or planting onions in my garden! Quit bothering me!"

Seems legit XD

Healing potions have saved my life on more than one occassion. Their are a variety of them, and each of them are for certain level's.

The regular pots, while playing DD's at low level's is fantastic. Hi-Pots are amazing, Ethers help blm's when you want to get that extra Fire I/II/III in their!

p.s. With the addition of future NPC's in the expansion...they may be even more useful.

And Miles, even if they are junk it is enough to save someone's life after the fact.

Even if they died, is it so hard for them to home point and run back to where they were? Or are NPCs so special that they can't be bothered to pay some gil to teleport and do some running?

I know it was. my reply didn't reflect that properly.

but yeah they are pretty bad with that forever cooldown time in most situations.

While I think the same thing occasionally, I have to pause and remember that those tiny, insignificant chores that we get sent on are what let us discover the actual events that require our attention.

Deliver this letter. Oh hey, the recipient is having a shady conversation with an imperial spy. That imperial spy had information about an invasion. We infiltrate the enemy headquarters and thwart said invasion. Random primal summoning just cause. All is right in the world. Now go give these shoes to the homeless man half way across the continent.

But Uggghhhh..

Sometime you just want them to do it themselves.

But the reason we do silly missions, killing primals and saving Eorzea everytime Minfilia opens her mouth is because were all still hoping that one day well get a piece of:

You should see my thoughts on how I think my character reacts to crafting quests.

NPC: This is a quality of gear that is unsurpassed!
Me: Heh heh, yeaaaahhhhh...I worked hard on it...(*internal monologue* Please don't look at the name on it, I just bought it from the market board!)

Minfilia - "Oh no! (NPC who you don't like and know is going to betray the Scions eventually) was injured in (an incident)! (NPC) is in really bad shape! You should go to (location) to see if (NPC) is all right!"

Player - "Oh please, I just have the little brat that spanking he's been begging for since the first time he opened his mouth. He'll be fine, the only thing 'injured' is his pride."

...is how I imagined it to go...

The game's death mechanic is exclusive to players. NPCs only die once, we special people who were touched by vorl- i mean, "Hydaelyn" are capable of dying and respawning.
Though no one's sure if that works with all the Scions. And it's not something you'd wanna find out the hard way.

I always thought it would be hilarious if they kind of broke the 4th wall and brought Livia back in the story like they did Nero with CT and had Cid say something like "but I saw <character> defeat you!" "They did but I returned to my home point and just got back." XD

Minfilia is the perfect example of why you don't have to make favours for cute girls without asking for something in return...otherwise they become accustomed to, and keep asking for more favours :P
