[Beginner question] Is it normal to wait half an hour for the Titan story duty finder

I'm at the point in the "story" where I need to queue in Duty Finder to fight Titan (something's Navel).

Is it normal to wait for half an hour? I mean, I'm tank and have pretty much 1 sec - 2 min queues up till now (same for Ifrit trial).

I noticed the Healer was the missing role in this case.

I thought everybody were "linked" for duty finder and just 'sync'd' down if they're above the level when they queue.

Maybe it's because it's not in the Duty Roulette thingy options?

Or cause Titan in the story mode is a gated one time event not available any other time afterwards?

That's because when it's 2 pm in Tokyo it's 9pm in Los Angeles. And 6 am in France. That's why some JAP players play on NA servers. And not in EU servers. Well, some of them also moved to USA for studies or work. Some JAP players can speak English. But seeing how people suck at English in Europe...

On FFXIV you can achieve communication with Auto-Translate though. But since it's so early in the morning for JAP players at the time most EU players raid in the evening...

I was mostly refering to LEVELING UP my character, since I need to go through all those required group content to unlock those things on the way to 50

Everyone farm ST so yeah, since it's a 24 man party it's not too hard to fit in. Queue times are what delay your progression while leveling up. At 50 you can do more stuff (frontlines, crafting, hunts etc). Well, more RELEVANT stuff for endgame progression :)

Nah I chose to be a tank in order to AVOID WAITING so yeah. It's completely counter productive to force people into group content only to wait an hour for it. Since it's required to progress further it's quite a slow down. At least you can skip dungeons altogether while leveling an alt class/job. YOU CAN'T SKIP THEM on your first character / class :-)

Once I'm done with the story I'll make sure not to ever queue for any dungeon on the way to 50 on an alt dps class. Well, I will if I can get in Lv range of one while farming Leves & FATEs. Otherwise it's just a waste of time lol

Well Titan, or the dumbed down version of it in story mode at least, wasn't really difficult. Only difficulty is if your healer take a jump into the lava lol. But yeah I heard nasty things about it for Lv50 people.
And yeah people who don't wanna be tank will continue that way.

It's not because they'll release a TANK or HEAL class that DPS people will play them. On the other hand since there are so few people accepting to 'help' people by being the tank / healer (or just want insta queue), the moment they all jump on the new dps class queue times went to hell lol. I don't think this will improve because of a new Tank class, only tank /healers will try it out.

You can do this fight whenever and sometimes Low level roulette just takes a bit. Ever since Ninja, the queue has been strange. When you're a tank, you're waiting for healers. When you're a healer, you're waiting for a tank.

Probably queued at a bad moment, when people were asleep, busy with school or work and such, even if many people don't queue for that some DPS / healers should be filtered from roulette, it wont be instant but not too long either.

It is probably normal these days, besides its use in the main story there really is no reason to ever do that version of Titan again once you beat it the first time, so very few people are ever queued for it at any given time.

It's not so much that it's a gated one-time event (as it's repeatable) it's that it's part of the rather large spanning "low level roulette" which many players don't queue for.

Just hang in there, you'll get it eventually :)

As a side note, now you know how DPS feel for queue times lol, imagine that 30+ minute wait but for... Every. Single. Thing.

Yeah it's always a healer missing when I need to wait in queue. 50% of the time when it's instant queue I came in an already started dungeon at the last boss (meaning a tank ragequit or votekick, I don't complain since it allows me to do that story-required dungeon 3 times faster :D)

Well I queued 45 min ago so it was 7:15 pm (19:15) and I live in Europe (GMT+1) (and play on Chaos, the "dedicated EU server even though all NA and EU servers are served by a Canadian located Data Center, that's obvious when pinging the IP btw)

Yeah the only good thing about low level duty roulette is the massive one time per day XP bonus. Which is 100% useless at lv50, and about 75% of the population is sitting at lv50 or so, isn't it?
And yeah I heard about awful dps queue times. When I played on WoW with 1 tank 1 heal 3 dps the timer was about 15 min for DPS. I was surprised to hear people say it takes +30 min for them considering the ratio is 1 - 1- 2 here oO

So you know, servers are not all linked. They're grouped into data centers. The Duty Finder will pull players from any server in your data center, so while you'll see players from multiple servers, you won't see players from every server.

Odin is part of the Chaos data center. Chaos is an EU data center. You might have a bit better luck enabling German and French (and heck, while you're at it, Japanese) in the Duty Finder's language list, so you're not missing out on large chunks of your data center's player base. Just be prepared to auto-translate if need be.

You get a decent tome bonus for low level roulette, but sadly it's just not enough to entice most veteran players into queuing for it. Many people will run expert roulette, sometimes high level roulette, or spam a particular dungeon (Snowcloak mostly) to cap tomes.

At present the DPS queue times are crap, but there is hope! SE just really messed up with the timing. Releasing a new DPS job (everyone wants to try out a new job) into the mix when we are already suffering from lack of tanks/healers in queues just bloated the problem even further. However! When 3.0 is released and we get the new tank and healer jobs, we will surely notice a significant decrease in DPS queues ^_^

i took 2.4 as an opportunity to level my WAR, which is now 42 and still rising
having fun with tank after taking DRG to 50

I already know all that. Mu Duty Finder is set to English and French already. I'm 99% there are 0 Japanese players in this DC. I'll try to enable German to see if it makes any difference.

According to some FrontLine pvpers, enabling other languages besides English may ACTUALLY INCREASE QUEUE TIME, at least for FrontLines. I tried to remove French from the Duty Finder options and it was not better though.

Well no wonder Lv.50 people wouldn't queue for Low Level Duty Roulette then. I know I wouldn't as well unless I'm utterly bored lol

As for the release of Dark Knight (which was the reason for me to start the game and find out it wasn't released yet lol. Somehow I thought the latest 2.4 patch was the new expansion going live lol) I can't wait for it.
But I'm not sure if it will really relieve DPS' queue times. Cause 95% of people dislike Tanking. I know I don't particulary like it. You're just a punching ball getting healed (sometimes) while your time play around mechanics and survive to end the fight.

I had some fun for the first time in that last dungeon I had to do (brayflox's Long Stop) on the last boss. I, for once, had to do something in order to 'help' in the fight. Well, it was still just sidestepping the BIG BAD AOE INCOMMING. Moving the boss away from something. Getting aggro on adds (for the first boss fights, not the last one) etc...

If it wasn't for insta queue I wouldn't have chosen a tanking class ^^ But I didn't want to wait 1 hour + to do my quest required runs on my first character, that's masochism.

I wanted to play Dragoon at first, but after hearing about them doing lower dps, having lower utility, and taking +50% damage from unavoidable magic aoe, + the awful dps queue times, I said screw it, I wanna enjoy the game and see content, not sit in queue afk in capital city (already did that in Mists of Pandaria which was why I unsubbed :D and the jerk community lol)

Alright time to queue again and see if the queue time is faster now :)

EDIT: Insta queue once again like usual lol. I noticed there is always one DPS afk and making the timer goes off after 45 sec (someone withdrew etc) ahah
Did it on second try cause on first try the healer fall off into lava from being too far away during Titant's jump :D

Stop blaming NIN, it's not because of NIN. It's because the train of people who needed it have already got through.

I'm sure someone has pointed this out... But if your making this post right after trying...

It's between 12pm-4pm on a week day in NA. People have work, school (those not off yet like myself /cry grad school), and travel plans because of the holidays.


Hardly a good time to be trying this. Try again in about 3-5 hours and the queue should be quick. I always do my alts (a bard) roulettes right before or after I make dinner because the queues are insanely fast even as a solo q dps. Wait till late hours or do them too early and you will wait forever.

As Barboron pointed out.. You are on an EU server so nvm about the times lol. Didn't realize Odin was EU.

Ninjas make anything low level take much longer.

The duty roulette should prioritize filling slots for those queued in a duty finder.

the problem is these primal trials have zero value to redo after you beat them once in the storyline, except when Duty Roulette throws you in there.

well...it was when i did it for story.

but that was more than a year ago.

my first class was GLD, so my queue would be no different from you.

Thing is nobody actually LIKES doing Titan, so your only real shot is getting it when 3 other people get it as a roulette, or making a premade party.
