True, make it 20,000!
*Yoshida nods gravely*
*Informs team to add in another zero by player request*
Maybe just me but I would like a Maat fight for something in this game, can that be in the stage somewhere? (FFXI solo boss fight that, for certain classes, could be quite tough)
Really? If it was simply "Bring me 20,000 Serpent Seals", I'd be overjoyed at how easy that is.
It's totally going to be "Bring me 10,000 Allied Seal Tokens", where one token is purchased for 1,000 Allied Seals, now that I've suggested it, though.
Currency has hardly been a direct problem for me when I was working on my relic. I never really felt that getting myth for books, alex maps, inks...etc. was a problem.
It's the other stuff (Atma, 2000 light after the light farming train died down, FATE camping...etc.) that slowed me down.
If the relic quest is really ending, there was absolutely no point in doing any of it in the first place, IMO. I thought it was going to keep getting upgraded in the future.
I just hope we get something like the original relic quest now. A lot of grinding already so it's about time we come full circle. A brand new trial, a really difficult solo battle, perhaps some crafting involved, and open world quests that might actually be tough, tough enough to require a full party. I say also that if there is a crafting part it should require materials dropped from first coil and extreme primals. That way it's not necessary to raid, but if you don't you'll have to fork over lots of Gil.
Yeah, that's what I thought too. These relic questlines should definitely be required to continue relic questline in the expansion. People have spent dozens of hours, millions of gil and thousands of tomestones for a reason. I could easily get a tomestone weapon, but I wanted to keep up with the relic because it's supposed to keep upgrading. Even if previous relics aren't required in expansion, they should at least reward players in some way who completed their relics, like let them skip some steps or at least keep the customized stats from current relic.
I really hope it returns to the relic basics and we have to defeat big hard monsters.
EX primals plus a new boss = zodiac.
Chimera EX!
I don't care what it takes to make the weapon, I just want it to have something that really sets it apart, rather than just being the "best" I want it to have something nothing else has. In XI the relic's got an exclusive weaponskill with a special aftermath effect and an exclusive stat of occasionally deals 1.5-2.0x damage.
Would be cool if the relics came with something that set them apart, like enhanced "x". Like gae bolg could come with enhanced jump. Gives jump a chance to reset all jumps on use. Since the relic's are job specific I think it would be an interesting way for them to buff our job abilities.
If not, something along the lines of "Limit breaker". Gives you access to the level 1 limit break gauge at all times. Not really useful for the most part but would really set the weapon apart as unique to anything else.
Don't act so surprised lol,
The moment u play an mmo it usually ends up nothing more then just for your enjoyment.
It'll be a real riot if the new relic wep in 3.0 will be easy to catch up to due to the nerfs of the nexus etc quests. Or better yet if yoshi decides to allow players to skip the overall relic and start the new one XD.
That'd be such a shame if it were to happen right? :3
Im ok for it as long as its not a 1 time only fight tied to that quest and is hard enough to not be downed by everyone right away.
Also if they ever implement a "Maat-like" fight, i want to be able to replay it as much as i want once the quest is done, otherwise dont even bother putting it into the game.
All ex primals from Garuda to Shiva to get the mats for the relic followed by allagan oils obtained from T5 and T9 would be how I would do the relic questline. It's enough of a gate that only a few people will get it at the start but not so out of reach that its not impossible to obtain for an average gamer, especially with the echo buffs in T5 and T9.
I want something closer to how the quest began: a challenging set of trials either individually or group based. Nothing has really compared to the feeling I got from downing those fights when they were first released and Darklight was all the rage. It's degenerated into a mindless grind that bores me to tears now. I'll do whatever it is regardless, but I just hope for something different.
Also, as someone else mentioned, it'd be nice if the final phase unlocked some sort of unique ability or feature for our characters for slogging through it all. I don't care if the weapon line resets for 3.0, but something to symbolize all the hard work that's gone into these 2.0 weapons would be nice.
please... no more fates for the love of glob. Give us something engaging and challenging, not basic/boring/time consuming, for example Atma and the book stage were probably the laziest, relic designs by far. I dont feel accomplished when finishing those, i feel like i used up a lot of time to just repeat content iv'e grinded through countlessy before.
Pretty sure they said somewhere that's not happening. If I remember correctly, it's going to top out at as good as or better than the T13 weps during this content cycle and then there will be brand new relic style weapon quests that start fresh in 3.0. After that your relic will just be a glamour stick.
On topic, I REALLY hope that future relic quests have some sort of daily bonus mechanism. Nexus just drags on in a way that none of the other stages did unless you're hardcore farming it.
What I'd enjoy from a relic progression would be something that requires some skill and is challenging. Titan HM was that brick wall before. Gathering the tomes for the oil and mist was an edge case. Running around doing FATEs was not in any way rewarding. Slaughtering a ton of mobs, waiting for fates to pop while sitting there staring into nothing and saying no I can't go do that other fun thing cause I need to wait here, running random dungeons and doing leves(wtf) was just tedious. Gathering alexandrite was not that bad but light... well it has a good variety since you are not forced into a single thing. But I think for the audience this is aimed at the amount of light needed is too much. Especially since along the way you are trying to encourage people to try/play other jobs.
hopefully, spend poetics kill the extremes and do a kick ass job specific 8 man raid quest
your group vs the class of your job w/ shadowless figures of tank/dps/heal
the new iron works 130 weapons blow the current relic stage nexus out of the water.... where is the upgrade phase for this one :( feeling a bit left behind on the weapon stage here
They tend to happen at the minor patches between the big ones.
There's a big misconception that the zodiac quest chain has any chance of being difficult.
It doesn't.
The last step will be time consuming, but no real effort involved. EX Primals won't be included as they aren't casual content.
The relic probably won't have a "Final stage" and will likely get a name change once we get to Eureka. Since that's where the legendary weapons were made. Then we'll continue on with new processes for evolving it, or use the old ones.
ITT: Jade. Lots and lots of Jade.
While I am hoping for the next upgrade to be awesome (which it won't cause SE doesn't care about them. They prefer raid drops to be the highest and brightest), the Ironworks weapons do not blow the current Nexus out of the water. Nexus/Novus is great because of the customization.
My whm is Spellspeed/DET melded...the Ironworks cane is Crit hit rate. Like that makes any sense at all for whm. The weapons are great for ilevel but stat wise leave something to be desired for me.
