Please stop putting the tank chest piece in the last raid tier

This was annoying in SCoB, where the Heavy High Allagan Coat was in T9.

Then they went and did it again in FCoB, putting the Dreadwyrm Armor of Fending in T13.

What's the point of always making tanks wait until they have cleared the last raid tier before they can get the nice armor? This sucks.

The Heavy High Allagan Coat is almost the only tank chest piece in this game which doesn't look absolutely hideous, someone on the FFXIV team really loves huge shoulder pads on the tank armor, the PLD AF and the Ironworks Armor of Fending both reflect the designer's love of the NFL because you look like you're ready for some football with those chest pieces.

Tank body was dropped in Turn 1 in the First Coil of Bahamut

The hardest content in the game should drop the chest and weapon for every job. It should have the best rewards.

The problem is they aren't consistent. Some jobs are lucky and get it early. Which isn't fair.

I like the new crafted chest quite a lot. :V

Pshh. I love the poetic armor of fending as well as well as the Paladin's AF armor. I feel so bulky and protected. <3

As for why they put the tank chest piece in T9 and T13 I'm not sure. Maybe incentive to tanks to stay with groups all the way to T13?

Casters get their chest from T11, I saw 2 players with the Buttwings Mage Cloak standing around in Ceruleum Processing Plant before the servers went down for maintenance.

The tank legs are in T12 incidentally, I'm not seeing the fairness here at all.

And let's not forget, Coil LOVES tanks. Both in 1st and 2nd Coil, the tanks in the statics I have been have been decked out first. I have seen more Tank drops than anything to a point where it became frustrating. So please stop complaining, really lol.

I actually think this is an advantageous thing? The non-weapon t13 chest has the smallest loot table of all the chests, your odds of a particular piece there is higher than any other chest.

Caster , DRG and monk got their chest in previous turn but they still have their leg in the final turn. Leg and chest got the same huge chuck of stat and are the best overall upgrade for left side piece. I don't see anything unfair with that.

That's just RNG, for every group that complains about always getting tank drops in Coil, there's 5 other groups which had all 8 members with a High Allagan Coat of Healing before a single chest of any other kind dropped.

Hahaha.....if you think the FFXIV team has an obsession with big NFL shoulderpad for tank I think you should check out wow and see how greener the grass is on the other side.

Unrelated note but the overall design of the tank set in first coil was awful. You get the chest piece in the first turn but once you get the full set it was kinda lackluster. All brown just brown like it was rusted. But that's my opinion obviously. Carry on!

To be fair, it is ancient Allagan armor. It shouldn't be in pristine condition.

This is what i have been thinking also, both chest and weapon/shield for all classes should come from last boss and ring for example could come from 2nd turn, rest can be dropped randomly.

The 80's are back! Shoulder pads are in again ;) Fingers crossed for Jareth the Goblin King-esque hair patch next!

I've always found this profoundly unfair myself. Tired of seeing people I run with getting their HA body pieces from earlier turns while I have to wait for mine until T9. I mean, I just want it for glamour at this point but still.

Lol? I've cleared T8 several times now and not seen a single tank drop. T7 always drops healer crap for my static too (we've seen like 4 coats of healing so far). That's all RNG and has nothing to do with tank stuff dropping more.

At least they didn't put my tank ring there. I didn't even get the T9 one!!! WHY.

It's not like you're the only class that has their two big gear pieces locked into the final turns. Ninja has pants in 12 and chest in t13 as well. and just like ninja tanks have all their other left side gear (sans weapon ofc) available to them in t10 & 11. Besides that's why you have the poetic one to hold you over in the meantime.

I can say the same thing about the caster pants and I'm pretty sure so could every other class. My alternate is pants with accuracy determination, which are God awful. I have more than enough accuracy without a single fcob, and grabbing those pants is a massive dps loss over the t9 ones, which by the way took about 50 kills to get, AFTER I went and bought the crafted ones. As great as my robe is, I'd rather that be in turn 13 instead of my pants. With the shit ton of accuracy on it I can't make much use of it until I get my dreadwyrm weapon anyways. They cycled who got a major piece in the earlier turns throughout the raids. last coil my chest was turn 3 and my pants in turn 4. Don't complain because you didn't get the best deal this time around.

Pretty sure I read the healing body is from T13 as well. Thank god it's ugly as crap, because it will be a long time before I'm to T13.

I'd appreciate having final boss shoulders if it didn't mean my head and hands would clip into it...

They honestly should just do what they did in the most recent dungeons and have refundable tokens/worn gear in each turn that you trade in for the gear you want. So instead of "Allagan X of *Job Slot*" you'd just have "Damaged Allagan X" - which you then take to Mor Dhona to have restored into whatever job piece you want for that slot. Weapons tokens would be limited to the final turn, Shield token would have to be handled differently though since it's technically a "main" piece as it's tiered to be equivalent to the weapon since Second Coil, but uses an accessory item to upgrade for token pieces. I would say have the Sword and Shield drop together like in Shiva, but eh.

Of course the reason they won't do this is getting sub-optimal loot distribution is part of what extends subs and keeps people from clearing at times.

Pretty much this. I'd say the "last couple events" if we had 12-15 events.. But since we only have 4.. Yea dead last is what makes sense. But as Lunar says.. They aren't consistent. Same way the sets aren't consistent. If they want to have 2 equal sets of gear they need to each have obvious pros and cons. Instead some classes need almost all of 1 and none of the other. And some could be almost full BiS without ever clearing half the content (minus weapon of course) while others would have 3 pieces of gear.


They make it all so piss easy that it doesn't much matter but it is still annoying.

too bad the HA Tank coat is useless. EDIT: At least that Dreadwyrm Body of Fending has desirable stats, so its a good reason why its in T13.

Umm, hello? Turn 1... Tank chest drops from there and it is one of the best looking tops still. In fact you got 7 of 11 tank items in the first 2 turns of coil when it came out.

At least its not as bad as bards, Tanks had chest and leg in turn 1 and 2 for binding coil where as for bards its been t4 for chest, t5 for legs in binding, t8 for legs, t9 for chest in second coil and t12 for legs, t13 for chest in final coil. Our gear is always stuck in the final 2 turns.
