What job do you think it'll be?
I'm hoping it is a Gun Mage class personally. I don't think there are enough Mana eccentric classes lol.

How about the one that already exists in Limsa? Musketeer?
I have a crazy idea,
Cleric
Base Class: ACN
Fighting Style: Gun-Kata
Weapons: Dual Pistols
Imagine a Cleric appears with a Carby on the shoulder. The Carby sets up a patterned magic field. The Cleric draws his guns and enter calculation mode ...
A flurry of gunfire and it's over ... without incident.
:p
:(
All I wanted was to be like Christian Bale in Equilibrium.

I'm going to guess Agent, personally my money's on it being a Healer. I'm honestly thinking Heavensward will have only Dark Knight and the Gun job, as the Healer. Then others will be introduced later.
I speculate that the gun class will be have the abilities of heal shot , regen shot and refresh shot putting them in a support role. They may also have AIM abilities that like FFTA sniper has that adds damage/debuffs further supporting the party.
Aim feet:CC bind.
Aim Arms:Unable to use weaponskills/Aoe abilities
Aim legs: Gravity/Heavy for kiting
Aim Neck:Silence
Aim Eyes:Blind
Aim Head: Stun
Aim Chest: DOT bleed.
All of these could easily fall in the purview of a healer/support job.
I see your Christian Bale and raise you The One:

As for my speculation I personally prefer if it were the Gun Mage, simply because I really really want me some Blue Magic.
I don't know how SE will handle it but I am highly skeptical of any gun-wielding healing classes. Maybe some sort of a chemist who charges their bullets with potion? Even that I consider to be far-fetched.
I, too, think it will be Agent; but a dps class rather healer. Btw, Hildiband is the 'Agent of inquiry"; maybe the next job is like Hildiband's and we get to do his body builder pose as a victory pose.
I would much rather have the Gun Mage in all it's pride and glory.

Seriously, what cool outfits.
Actually the Gunner outfits aren't half bad either

But really, I would much rather have the Gun Mage (Blue Mage) than a sub par healer. Plus, the Gun Mage (Blue Mage) has precedence. A Gun Cleric does not have precedence. Closest to a Gun Cleric that we have ever gotten is the Chemist in the Tactics series.
Just curious, what exactly it is you like about the Gun Mage?
The copying of monster spells?
The monster specific damage? (Unlikely in FFXIV given that we don't even have elemental specific damage.)
I suggested the "Gun Cleric" half-jokingly. I thought would be cool to have calculation-based Gun-Kata.
And I wouldn't worry too much about "precedence". FF classes are more or less invented on the fly. Gun Mage is pretty much FFX-2 exclusive.
I almost have a feeling that the gun won't even be the main weapon of the class and instead it'll be a offhand weapon that's used for abilities like the Paladin's shield. With the mainhand being the now lost single dagger weapons/club. When you take away the centrality of the gun as the core weapon, it opens up a lot more options as to what the job may be
Perhaps it is a Gunblade class... that'd be very interesting :o
I think its going to be a dps, BECAUSE everyone now expects it to be a healer since it's "not what we're expecting." I would LOVE Gun Mage. Only because every Live Letter I ask about Blue Mage and as Blu is implemented differently in each incarnation, its totally possible!
Considering the nature of where the Musketeer's Guild is located, it seems logical that the job version of it would be Corsair. I mean, pirates and all, right? A lot of speculations are being tossed left and right about the gunclass being a potential healer - Chemist from FFT as source, I suppose. Problems with Chemist, however, it's would either require resources to actually heal: Pitching potions. Or they are somehow magically unrestricted and can "draw aether out of the air and stuck it in a jar"(?) Otherwise they'd have to headshot you and you suddenly received a burst of healing, odd.
There's a more basic choice for Square-Enix to pick a healer, though: Red Mage.
edit:
In case the "hint" yoshi gave with his 007 T-shirt: Pirating movies. For we be pirates!
Yar dar fiddle lee dee being a pirate is alright with me
The short answer is 'Yes.' Yoshida has moved classes away from requiring consumables as a core to performing their role in the past. Archers/Bards needed arrows in 1.xx, but no longer do. There is no lore reason for this now. They straight up removed the consumable aspect of the class for streamlining purposes, and for the best. There is no reason not to do the same for Chemist, should it be the job, with their special healing potions.
I don't know if you were someone who played Final Fantasy XI's Treasures of Aht Urghan Expansion or not, but in that expansion they introduced the Blue Mage.
What made the Blue Mage special more than anything else wasn't the fact that it could learn the spells and abilities of the monsters (yes there was that)... but rather it's ability to customize the spells, and traits that it had equipped at any given time.
What I mean by this is that at it's max level a Blue Mage could have 20 spells equipped at any given time, with a maximum of 70 Blue Magic Points to allocate those spells with. Basically it was the single most customizable class in that game. Though they had several dozen spells above and beyond what they could actually slot into their active spells.
That is essentially why I want the Blue Mage/Gun Mage. The customization feature that the Blue Mage would offer to the player.
Heh ... wonder if the gun-using class will be ... wait for it ... PUP! :p
What? They can put together a robot, no reason they can put together a gun or 2.
PS: Bonus points if it requires Lv 15 GSM as a sub-class. LOL
That's pretty much how all DPS classes are except for DRG currently. MNK has mantra, a stun, technically a silence, a -10% int debuff. NIN has a stun, a silence, TP regeneration, +10% damage on enemy debuff, slashing resistance debuff, and a weak mantra. SMN has battle rez, enhanced virus, heavy, eye for an eye on a shorter cooldown, BLM has -20% magical damage on a target, virus, eye for an eye, heavy/slow, and manawall/ward can sort of be counted for utility in certain scenarios.
Musketeer guild is there in Limsa since 1.0 just missing out NPC at the desk (its same building as marauder guild)
Agent- The Producer was wearing a 007 shirt afterall :P
Whatever it may be i am sure it will be fine :)
I also want it to be Corsair. That was such a fun job in XI and I can only imagine how fun it will be in XIV.

Chemist.

The game needs another healing class. They could base it off of the Alchemist from X-2 (though call it Chemist to avoid confusion with the DoH class).
I love how people try to double layer Yoshi's words to fit their dreams. People were all expecting dps gunner (cuz nostalgia), then the words poped. Here goes, won't be a dps, or at least won't be the musketeer people wanted to see. So people went the the 2nd most logical choice : Chemist from FFT
Can't see gun mage coming either, because you know, BLU has already been said to be too hard to balance (huge discrepancy between players in skills available, OP skills and totally useless ones, plus most of the mobs abilities are ones the current jobs have. The others are usually totally OP) and won't come any time soon (or so we've been said). And considering gun mage is a BLU with a gun, well, we got the answer.
