I think it's probably well into Monday in Japan. Just sayin'...
Incase you weren't aware... It's Monday in Japan though :) about 11am or so so they are working right now.
They can dial into the servers remotely as well, so even if they aren't in the data-center they can take care of issues.
If its a hardware problem in Canada its 9:00 pm right now on a sunday.
All of Balmung is getting 90k
Incase you're not aware servers are being affected are only NA and EU
And if you're playing on a JP datacenter you're not having this problem.
Yea NA servers are gone JP are fine. Canada has a problem.
I can assure you that they have to be on call and available to fix server issues, 24/7.
I am starting to shake !
Its actually 11:12AM here in Japan right now on MONDAY.
Should know what you're talking about before you post http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_JP.aspx it's well into Monday in Japan, you know where the company that owns and runs this game happens to be?
As someone who works in the IT industry... "It's Sunday, I'll deal with it tomorrow" is never an excuse for downtime.
I mean sh*t happens of course, but the OP's point is completely invalid.
lobby server is dead too
Winter is coming...
I luled pretty hard at this part. My poor husband's queue is in the thousands (about 2,000-8,000 depending) every time he tries to log on. He's even called our roommates to log in for him, so that maybe when we got home from work he could play. Still had about and hour and half wait, at least, after being in queue for three hours last night...
Anyways...continue on with the normal arguments/pointing out inaccuracies...
So what you are saying is if the servers break at 6:00 PM Friday night people should all say "well its Friday night and they aren't working until Monday morning."? Cause that is basically what I am reading. You do realize it is a service industry and they surely have people on call for this. No industry that provides a service 24-7 does not.
Agree with the rest of what you are saying but if you honestly believe that what you said is good business, please don't open one.
I think what you're missing is the Company who runs the game.... are at work as we speak, AND last time we had issues on a Sunday they worked on it even with the servers being in Canada. I'll let you look that up yourself so you can see the point, also SE being in Japan doesn't mean they can't work on something in Canada example does SE go to your house if you have a issues with the game or do they fix it from where they are?
Yeesh, I understand my argument was wrong but I didn't expect the community to get this upset.
It's a game people, go enjoy something else for awhile.
Taking out your frustrations on a poor little misinformed lalafell isn't going to make this better.
I'll change the OP cause I was wrong :) But remain calm this will all get better.
Indeed.
but yeah, I manage a datacenter for a company much smaller than Square Enix, and if any of my stuff goes down on a Sunday night I go in and fix it lol. It's part of the gig.
It's normal for one of the most familiar of a subject to be used as the subject in a comparison, though, and really it's the better way to do it. It's more relevant to people. If people were drawing comparisons to Dragonica or something, few people would even know what they were talking about. WoW is extremely well-known and popular and makes a great example. That's different, however, from people harping all over WoW-this and WoW-that, I just skip those topics anymore lol.
Hello, IT experience here.
Reserve staff are kept on call for emergencies, which this is considered to be. You can expect a slower response time (2-3 hrs) than usual as people making $20-30k/yr tops cancel their family plans, dinner appointments, dates, and vacations to ship off to the office and do some unpaid overtime so you can keep playing your videogame.
This of course assumes that the problem is hardware-related cannot just be fixed remotely by an admin writing and running a few scripts.
errr, guess ill put my ST runs on hold haha, (was just able to log in dunno for how long tho)
Any self-respecting company running servers of this magnitude will have 24/7 NOC teams monitoring the data-centers. This issue is with the Montreal Data Center and there is more than likely a team dealing with it.
