PS4 damage meters

Still waiting on them. You can't even go onto the ffxiv reddit without seeing people talking about them. It's a pretty big part of the game and rather insulting we still don't have any type of tool even outside of raids.

I'm pretty much done raiding until you add them. I'm not going to pay 18 dollars to move to a non ps4 server to play with pc players when you aren't going to treat ps4 customers with the same respect as pc players.

You've created an environment that is conducive to failure for ps4 players and there's really no point in wasting time raiding in your game when we don't have the same tools. And really if i'm not going to raid then collecting token gear is pretty pointless as well.

I suppose i'll do some pvp for a while and random crafting, but i can 100% guarantee that i will be done with this game if you do not address the lack of raid tools by the next expansion.

I've given you the benefit of the doubt here for months waiting for some type of meters.

First off you already are on a server that has both PC and PS4 players. There is no exclusive one system server only. As for respect PC players don't have a DPS meter as well so they are treating all sides the same. ONCE they implement a DPS meter(if they do) it will be for all platforms. The only difference is that PC players use third party tools to get the DPS meters/parsers and if they are reported they can get banned(it is against ToS to use such).

No that is complete bullshit. You can't even go onto the ffxiv reddit without reading about advanced combat tracker and what dps is required for this encounter or that encounter. The fcs like Lucrezia use them.

They aren't going to ban anyone because ALL the people doing high end content use them.

They think ps4 players are going to put up with not having the same tools and run this watered down nonsense to waste our time until they nerf the stuff that's actually fun, challenging and rewarding again. And that's simply not going to cut it. I'm asking for access to the same tools in a game that is supposed to be cross platform.

8 man premade groups should have access to meters.

Square, your stance on damage meters is both disingenuous and cowardly.

Keep your nerfed,watered down content and allow us the same tools so that we can play the actual game on an equal level.

Nobody likes to have their time wasted. I've lost 2 solid ps4 raiders in the last week who came to the conclusion that your endgame was a waste of time. You can't improve on endgame content when you can't see who is doing what on the boss. I'm done carrying people in this game meters or no meters.

They are against ToS. If someone reported them due to abuse they would get banned. They are not tools that are part of FFXIV. They are third party tools. Go read the ToS. Also:

It's the policy of out of sight out of mind basically. The moment someone starts with your DPS is so and so you can report them and they will get a ban.

From the prohibited activites part:
Activities that destroy game balance
Using third party programmes or tools in FINAL FANTASY XIV is strictly prohibited since they allow users to gain an unfair advantage over other players. Also I'm not defending them. I want to have a DPS meter but Yoshi said that due to harassment issues they probably won't do it that way but as challanges that you need to beat in a certain time and that should give you an idea of your DPS.

Alreayd have reported and provided links to their youtube. They don't give a shit. THey just dont want PS4 users to have the same tools. And they will not clarify why they won't include them when they have done nothing to stop the use of them by pc players.

They have clarified why they don't want to give people DPS meters.

"Talking about tools to monitor DPS damage made by players: at the moment we have no plans to introduce an official tool because I do feel that if we introduce this tool, the players who are enjoying the DPS role but don’t necessarily have the player skill of other players I think it’s going to make them really uncomfortable in the game and in the party they might be blamed for the results. We don’t want encourage that."

I am hoping that when they introduce addons we will be able to have that. I wouldn't mind a DPS tool but so far been doing fine without and kept improving(but that is my playstyle).

I think that was a joke, as that is what SE always says about future content.

but add ons like mods are going to work for Fallout 4 on the consoles (Pc mods will be allowed and come to the consoles).., so why shouldnt they allow them on PS4?

You do know you bumped a very old post right? none the less, I will reply to you.

Because, ACT is not a "mod" it is a win32/64-bit executable file, it will not run on PS4's operating system, i doubt the PS4 would handle it even, Also use of it is against the rules, if you're reported for it you will be banned, there are numerous examples of this on Reddit.

the apps aren't built by Square Enix, so quit blaming them. They are built by a 3rd party. If a 3rd party wanted to make a DPS parsing app for PS4 and allow people to download it, they could (if it is even possible on ps4. I'm sure if you jailbroke you PS4, it may be even more possible, but nobody has done it yet). In fact, you could do it yourself if you wanted, there is nothing stopping you. (other than the Terms of Service, which prohibit it, but Square seems to be taking a blind eye to this right now, since they haven't built an official parser of their own) Square didn't go out and give anyone information on how to create the ACT parser, people just did it, because they wanted it.

The funny part about the guy that went full ToS violations.Is that SE, know players use it and are "ok" with if not use for harassment. SE even imply that our current parser might be broken on machinest as there data show they can do pretty high #s.
I wish there was a way ps4 could use it, I know many players interested in there #s, or maybe show parse numbers AFTER a successful completion of a dungeon/raid.

I'm sorry but as a veteran MMORPG player and new to FFXIV, I have to disagree.
DPS meters are a great way to receive feedback and constructive criticism is always welcomed. For the most part I've had nothing but welcoming experiences from the FFXIV veterans. They always seem to be willing to help. If someone is too sensitive and can't handle the feedback that DPS meters bring, then they shouldn't be raiding in the first place. DPS meters in every MMORPG that I've played have always been my bread and butter in terms of making myself a better DPS teammate. SQUAREENIX im calling you out like Sway in the Morning, you wack *** rappers, bring the DPS meters STAT. haha!

My personal feeling is that when a group continuously fail at a DPS check, it's very hard to know exactly who doesn't contribute enough.
So not only is the whole group penalised, but the low dps cannot even know he isn't doing enough damage.
While it might be obvious for most people on forum (usually, people on forum are more invested in the game than your average joe), many player play the game intuitively, they just do what seems right. It doesn't mean it is though.
Gear isn't a great indicator (to some extent) as, unless the person has savage gear, it doesn't represent one skill.

I understand the limitation in pug situation, but it's very annoying that a premade group can't have access to a parser if no one plays on a PC

I know this is old, but I will contribute as well:

PS4 needs a damage meter. And I've barely seen anyone harassing a dps for low dps... I'm sure it happens, but you can just blacklist this person and go on with your life.


Why is it important? Because the dummies in the game are garbage. I can easily pull as SAM 4700dps on the O1S dummy, but in the real fight with my static it ends up being 1k less.
The dummies don't prepare you for it, so SE should either implement some real bosses (same principle as SSS) or a damage meter.

I want to improve, I love my job and I like the high end raids. I really do. But it is very hard for me to see when my dps falls off, and on which part in my rotation I have to work on.

Everyone uses act who does high end raids and SE knows. So make it equal for both PC users and PS4 users and trust your playerbase with it. You can take the feature away again. Or find a middle ground and give us a damage meter in staged boss fights.

The problem with dps meters is it's a double edged sword. On one hand when used right they can be of massive help, but unfortunately more often than not they're used in justification to boot someone because their dps is slightly lower or to complain on forums about how their job's dps is in poor performance and then asks for a buff.

Now if they made an in game meter that only showed your own personal dps, was non-linkable then maybe I would be in favor of it to help, as long as it's not forced like you can toggle it on or off.

They are used anyway, any gamer on PC who is doing high end content pretty much. It exists and it is being used massively. So you might as well embrace it and have everyone access it, not just PC gamers. People who are harassing others for low dps are trolls anyways and would be salty without a dps meter - in my experience.

Or SE gives us another valid way to determine our dps, and static SSS dummies in the most ideal surrounding are no accurate mirror of your dps performance.

They will never happen. The community is extremely toxic and you think a parser will help that? There are arseholes everywhere you go in this game. Try to teach someone their role or help? You dont pay my sub or lol mind your own business.

Hmh, honestly Omega has been a great server then. Haven't met a lot of those toxic people you are mentioning. And it's a hell lot worse in other MMO's. Besides, everyone who wants a damage meter can have one already and SE generally doesn't care - it's just the minority of the PS4 players who don't have the option.

The other point I made though is to implement something more serious to test your dps than static SSS dummies. That would give us PS4 players the option too to parse in actual boss fights - for our own improvement.

as a ps4 player and raider i have to admit, i do miss something like a parse.
i raid and we do have pc players who parse during raids.
now, its fun and all that my team mates can give that to me. HOWEVER.
how am i supposed to get better? i don't know what works and what doesn't work. i cant
mess around with my rotation and know which rotation does the most damage.
SSS was a good idea, until i tried it.
i did pretty good dps with a decent amount of time left. but guys, lets be real.
the dummy.. it doesn't move!
how are we supposed to know our real dps?

sure i wouldn't want to be parsed and called out rudely for being a "shitty" dps.
i do agree thats unfair and it messes with other peoples game play. but. theres so many rules already. it doesn't stop pc players from doing it? so why allow them? but what about the middle class players? if we get a system thats only parsing your own dps, then whats the big deal? i should be able to parse my own or my friends dps. make more rules.. if u being parsed against your will or idk.. against u knowing u are.. or people being rude and calling other people out for the lack of dps.. then .. easy.. report and ban them. theres 2 sides to this system and we all know this. yes you get jackasses but guys.. dont we already have them?! i want to be good at my class and provide the utmost dps i can do for my group.

but i cant see what im doing wrong by beating up a dummy that doesn't move.. or at the end of a fight where all i see is just the end number. i would like to see where i go wrong, where my dps is the lowest and to know what i need to change. lets all be real. FFXIV isn't a girlscout game. it is very competitive in the raid world. and it is very unfair that we see such high numbers from pc players. they are ontop of the food chain while we are pretty much being punished for being on a PS4. so enix, either u ban everyone on pc who use them or u give us one, or talk with sony for a ACT system on the ps4. this is in such high demand. not everyone is a jackass. i would only use it for myself and have fun with messing around with rotations. why else created high end duties?! whats the point of having savage? whats the point of damage? people who are eager to learn and have fun with this shouldn't be held back

i pay for this game.. we have to pay subs.. don't we deserve something? we pretty much make enix rich and we get a cold shoulder back. why pay for a game where its obvious pc players are like the only child. and i know ACT isnt connected to ffxiv to be clear! but enix damn well knows pc players use it and nothing would change if ps4 users got them to. but everyones game play would go up. on a personal level. so enix. why not ban all pc players? still waiting on that one..

You really don't need "raid tools" like this to clear raids. Many console and even PC players are able to get by just fine without this kind of stuff. If you do not have confidence in your own ability to do your jobs in raid environments then having a parse system isn't going to make much of a difference for you.

Get out there and learn raids like everyone else by trial and error.

Your comment isn’t relevant. I’m dunno, from what I’ve seen over the years and parsing varies. Some people are jerks and use it point the finger at others. Others don’t say anything. My advice t anyone with a PS4 - go online and google your rotations. Practice on a dummy. Otherwise, enjoy life as it is without a parser. When you get one, you may turn into a jerk lol cheers!
