Please add a Pee button

This picture on Imgur has inspired me to write a formal request to the developers:

Since the game now heavily penalizes players for not being at the keyboard when the Duty Finder pops up and the instances like the above on the picture aren't uncommon (long waiting times for melee DPS, PVP, less common battlefields etc), can you add a [Pause my queue] button to the Duty Finder? Especially since a whole party gets penalized if one person needs to go to the toilet, get a glass of water or feed the cat.

The button would keep you on the queue at the current spot but at the same time temporarily take you off the queue until you come back to the keyboard. The pause would be temporary, let's say a timer of 5 minutes, and if queuing as a party, would pause queue for everyone in the party.

During pause time duty finder server treats you like you aren't in the queue and let's other people enter dungeons, but when you come back, you come back to your spot in the queue, not to the end of it. So the player from the picture at the top of the post doesn't have to abandon the queue to go to the toilet.

Duty Finder window pops up for 45 seconds. In 45 seconds you can probably run to the toilet and pee, but washing the hands properly might not be enough time. I don't want anyone say the game promotes poor hygiene practices to players.

All SE would really need to do is have the duty finder honour the /afk status. Which means for long queues, you the player would need to keep your character active to remain in the active queue.

pause your queue? that makes zero sense. and what should other people do while you are paused? the system works like a line where people go to line up for things. everyone is in line for their instance.

so scenario... the DF hasn't matched even a single player with you yet. you click pause then lose your place in line while others pass you up. no different then simply withdrawing till you get back.

scenario 2... you already have been matched with a enough people to form a partial party. so now what? we pause them too? not only do people now pass you up in the line, but they get passed up too.

sadly we can't exactly ask the person ahead of us to hold our spot in line. however, this "pause" would FORCE others to comply. we can't force people to wait for us. all-in-all i don't think a pause would be useful anyone.

They should extend the accept/withdraw window to 2 minutes, that would cover little things like bathroom or getting a drink/snack if the queue takes longer than expected.

Actually, most computerized queue systems are not truly FIFO based (first in first out as you describe). Each person is in one of multiple queues during the matching process. Each person in the queue assigned order number or Rank. As the Queue empties (matches are completed, duty commenced), each person remaining in the queue has their rank updated. This allows for pause because change the state from active to inactive, then when the ranks update, the paused person does not have a rank increase. Ties are broken by length of time in queue. In perfect world these time would correlate directly to Rank but it not always the case.

Nope, you are removed from the Matched queue, made inactive and have your rank lowered slightly. At this point, previously explained logic would take over, as you are back in pending queue.

The exception would be if you were in pre-defined party and a member paused. That would cause the pause for all members of the pre-defined party.
Or, have it behave exactly the same as it does now when one member of the pre-made does not accept the duty pop. I have never seen this happen so I do not know the effect.

Nope, you are removed from the Matched queue, made inactive and have your rank lowered slightly. At this point, previously explained logic would take over, as you are back in pending queue.

But it would also mean that whenever someone really goes afk (for more than such a brief period), everyone else is locked out of whatever else they were doing for a full two minutes before the expiration counts as a withdrawal and the group is disbanded to form a new one. It makes the problem of getting stuck with such withdrawals that much worse than it already is. If people could pause, then nobody would get matched with them during that time, so nobody would get stuck having to wait on the afk player to Commence or Withdraw. They could continue with whatever else they were doing, or get matched with somebody else who isn't afk.

My only issue with this is I feel like it would make queue times a lot longer overall. As it stands, I imagine a fair number of spots open up from people missing the 45s timer...if we had to wait over double that amount of time for a spot to open up I feel like queue times would grow somewhat substantially for everyone.

Or, have it behave exactly the same as it does now when one member of the pre-made does not accept the duty pop. I have never seen this happen so I do not know the effect.

I have a better suggestion. How about not banning players from the DF queue when the entire server goes down? I've been banned from DF twice now because tonberry has booted players or crashed. You'd think there'd be some sort of logic to it.

This bizarrely happened to me yesterday, 4 times, waiting for A Relic Reborn: The Hydra, usually wait up to 90min for a >30min wait with about 5/8 confirmed and then.... I go away for exactly 45 seconds and duty suddenly pops and ummm yeah... oh well at least I won't have to worry about leveling up until next weekend when there is actually people to do the content with....

I feel like this new rule is a nightmare for those duties that rarely get joined by other players... and the ROG/NIN race is still making the DF in this patch the worst it has been in this game
