PvP is dead. Fix it SE.

Over the last 3 days I decided to try out some PvP and I've had absolutely no luck....

3 times i've been queued for over 120 minutes during prime time and didn't manage to get in. It did 3 times pop yesterday (past the 100 minute mark) but there was always one person who didn't accept the duty (hardly a surprise that people would go afk with a queue this long).

Anyway, enough of my sob story. PvP is pretty much dead and it needs to be revived. I don't care how you do it SE, but I want to get my Wolf Marks and to beat the aether out of other people (and the Maelstrom).

Offer more tomes for fl, and start offering them for Wolves Den maybe?
Or a Daily PvP Roulette could be introduced.
Or whatever else people can come up with :P

So please PvPers, and non PvPers sick of hearing us whine, speak out and demand a solution from SE.

It is actually better than it has been in a while, been under 10 minutes the last few days.

What PvP are you trying to do? Wolves den or Frontlines. You will have better luck, Better experience with it, and Better rewards doing frontlines. Also, what datacenter are you on?

Otherwise, yeah its pretty dead. Would be great if we're given Allied seals (makes sense) but oh well

Not sure I agree. A lot of times the average queue time will say "More than 30 minutes" yet I consistently get near-instant queues despite that. It might just be bad luck or a lot (or not a lot) of people in your particular GC are queueing up.

PVP is the most fun I have in this game. That said, I am all for anything that keeps it going so I don't mind any of the improvements you're suggesting.

Frontlines is pretty much alive last week. Max. queue for me was around 20 Minutes, while averarge 5-10.

Frontlines could easily be renamed Flatlined. It's an appropriate moniker for something which never really saw its glory days to begin with.

I'm not sure what SE can do to 'fix' PvP though. It's empty because most prefer the PvE content and spend their time either gathering new equipment, harvesting or crafting. Wolf marks are an utterly meaningless currency. The gears aren't that awe-inspiring even as a glamor, and there is nothing else worth spending the marks on. At a stretch they're useful for desynthesis skill ups.

If PvP is ever going to compete with PvE it needs to be more imaginative. Right now it's your standard 'capture the zone' and 'all out brawl' modes, which are mechanics so stale that their hardened crusts could probably deflect a bullet by now. It won't happen any time soon though, and that's fine with me. PvP has a lot of balancing issues to figure out before they worry on adding new modes.

The governing issue here is that PvP is an afterthought. The devs do not come out with PvP content every patch like they do with PvE, so once players reach max rank, there is absolutely nothing else to look forward to. This also leads to the other problem you stated which is a lack of variety. I'm primarily a PvP player and I admit that frontlines gets tedious after a while.

i think alot of people are just putting efort atm into the PvE content because they want to catch up or are running final coil etc etc. in 1-2 months pvp might be more alive again?

Immediate regret. Healers are lambs to the slaughter after all the nerfs they've done it's ridiculous.

Ques are very dependent on Grand Company plus time of day. Also may be some other secret stuff they won't tell us. As some testing has created some weird stuff. Recommend anyone who has que hit 30 mins withdraw and reque. You may get in instantly always have inprogress checked. Aether data center has a 3ish hour window where que says 12 mins but it never gets up to 10 and some are instant pops as it seems there are about 2 and half teams worth of players during that time.

With ninja and damage increase people who played casters its been a real turn off. Yet they complain they can't instant kill casters so its a trade off.

What nerfs were done besides the removal of Cleric Stance?

Eh, this game isn't meant to be a PvP game. Plenty of others on offer on the market. I think they should just keep focusing on excellent PvE.

One thing they could do is take away the stupid level requirement to buy the gear.

It's already a huge pain in the ass to get the points to buy the gear and accessories.

Doesn't matter to me anymore. The Ironworks caster gear looks cooler than the pvp, so now I have no reason to pvp anymore.

My friend talked me into trying PvP (Frontlines), and we have been in queue no more than 10-12 minutes per pop, not a bad wait at all.

Give it some time and will get better. PvP for most is something extra to do once finished leveling the newly released classes, finished gearing up their new class and previous ones with the new gear sets that came out recently and finished doing the new dungeons/catching up on newly released raids all from 2.4. Once they done that they will again be looking to fill their time with other things like PvP to avoid boredom. I don't think generally PvP is the main focus for most of players in this MMO, it is a thing that might do when bored of the PvE or done what needed to do with PvE of which a lot of new PvE content came with 2.4.

leveling ranks in pvp take ages....no wonder ppl dont bother anymore... get rid of the stupid req for 100 gear and maybe i will farm some marks

Frontlines is dying too. not enough rewards, I guess.

high level PvP gears look ridiculous too. how can you convince people to do PvP if the reward is just the right to cosplay as animals?

The main problem with PvP in this game is that it's simply not enticing enough to have players subscribe for just PvP. In contrast to e.g. World of Warcraft. Rather it are primarily PvE players who enjoy some PvP on the side. And with that, the moment something new comes along, things die off rapidly again. And with no real competitive element in PvP in this game as is, pre-made alliances for frontlines not being a thing, etc. its lacking many core features required for PvP to thrive. Class and skill balancing issues don't aid in this either.

SE can't fix player's willingness to do PvP.

Actually, they can. I am a pvp player as well, but don't bother with it here because it's so boring. If I've had a few drinks I will go in and holmgang a healer just to troll, but I don't feel that there is real competitive PvP here that is worth putting my effort into. I like PvE as well, and that's why I still play this game because THAT experience is rich and rewarding, but as far as PvP goes...

I'd like to see them assign a team to that aspect of the game and really put some effort into it. This game has the potential to change the landscape and topple the giant, but it's not going to happen if SE keeps ignoring aspects of gameplay that a large portion of the player pool enjoys.

However, SE said that the PvP in FFxiv was still in sort of beta, and that more modes and fields would be added. Wait & see. The arena is boring and died. Frontlines however are doing pretty well afaik, and especially in JP datacenters.

I think it's more on the community's end than on the gale's end that the problem is.

Couldn't they give more rewards instead of just Gear unusable unless you grind the fuck out of it?
Like cool unique items, even food to buy with Marks, a special tresure box after every victory that give a random materia when opened or stuff like that :(
