I've done plenty of dungeons so far as ACN/SMN (DPS role). I thought I'd try another DPS role or healer role (CNJ). I ended up with the latter.
So I like to know if theres anything apart from the Medica spell I can put to good use in dungeons in future? I felt I overused it every time the party was in a fight. Isn't the 'Psychic' spell mean't for the same purpose (as used by DPS character).

The spells are different for Conjurer and Scholar but your basics will be a low-level heal, a better heal, and an aoe heal. That's a simplified presentation.
For conjurer - cure is your basic spell and medica is your aoe. You shouldn't be using medica unless multiple people are taking damage.
Later you will get cure 2 (bigger single target heal), regen (single target heal over time), medica 2 (aoe heal with regen), and cure 3 (ranged aoe heal).
In general you want to use the lowest spell that will handle things.
For scholar - physick is your basic spell and succor is your aoe .. but it works a bit different than medica. Succor does a basic heal and adds a damage shield. Adloquium is the bigger heal and it also adds a damage shield. -
11-03-2014, 06:32 AMUrthdiggerJust want to point out, just because a DPS can equip physick doesn't mean they should be casting it. As a conjurer, your MND stat is much higher than a DPS. In addition, a DoW is not going to have a very high magic damage on their weapon (It's a hidden value on physical weapons, and magic weapons have a hidden physical damage stat), so theirs will be even worse.Quote:

Just a little rule of thumb to help you out: Medica is more efficient if at least 3 people need healing, otherwise stick to Cure. Keep in mind that Medica will also generate more hate so that is something to be careful with too, especially in lower level dungeons.
Another thing to note is that in most cases, you shouldn't fret about keeping everyone 100% topped off. If someone is at 90% HP or so their natural HP regen should be enough to finish the job and it's less MP you are using up. -

Long answer: are you on a playstation or pc? If you are on a playstation use the up/down arrows to scroll through the party list. That is a very quick way to target party members. If you are on a pc, click on the person OR their name in the party list. It is possible for people to be out of range or around a corner, so watch for those messages. If you try to select someone and their name isn't being selected it means they are too far away.
As acn/smn you are used to seeing the pet on the party list. Other people don't see your pet on their lists, so as healer you will have trouble targeting them that way. If you want to target a pet you can still click on it to manually target. -

Be sure to note your aggro management and MP when using skills like Medica too, you don't want to steal aggro from the tank or blow through your MP at a critical moment

SCH has a much easier time managing enmity than WHM because fairy has its own enmity table so SCH should rarely aggro. It does happen though when you Succor too early and try to top evertone off and end up drawing stray aggro.

I have found SCH to be much easier to heal with for my play style but WHM is just as good only a different style. In a dungeon you can really let Selene do 90% of the work and you just pew pew your heart out. When you learn the game a little more you can set up macro to heal two different targets and control your pet but until that day comes putting her on auto in a 4 man will be plenty.

So I need to be SCH for the best healer role? I'm hoping for another dps role, instead of ACN (if I wait patiently long enough) -

I wouldn't say one healer is better than the other all the time. They are both well balanced and have pros and cons. My play style fits with my SCH more but that is my personal taste. I have both healers and am pleased with them, I would just suggest play what you feel more comfortable with.

The classes are so well balanced that nobody would prefer one over another based on objective observance. People might have personal preferances but both are well sought after.
It is however, easier to manage when you happen to get 2 WHM in a full party than it is to manage 2 SCH as the shields don't stack.
What that means is if you have a 1k shield that is expiring in 4s and you know a big hit is coming in 5s, you either have to cast one hoping to hit a bigger number or cast it exactly on that 4s, in the dot. WHMs will just Regen or Medica/II as one sees fit. -

It really comes down to personal preference, both are balanced and both do the job when used properly. I've been using WHM but am going to give SCH a go. WHM is flexible enough and has a trick for every scenario. Just remember to not overdo it on Medica's and make sure when to use Regen correctly. Healing is really fun and a great challenge.

However, don't get in the habit of relying too heavily on SoS, it takes a while to recharge. Manage your MP to it's fullest and you shouldn't have to use SoS, except for emergencies.Quote:
