allow to have both repair system!!!

I don't like the new repair system, I don't need any space in my inventory, and I WANT to make the items to repair gear.
I like the idea of making items for repairs, was nice, fun and more realistic than using matter, a piece of rock to repair my cotton cloth.
There is a problem of implement both systems?
(please assist), and make the game more fun for the people that like crafting

Um no. They changed it for a reason. We can't just keep going back and forth. This new system is easier for most players and is working. I don't think they need to change it.

it's not going back, all people that use the new system could still use it, also if both systems works together

Sooo add all of the repair materials BACK into the system?

Essentially adding 5 more repair materials to their inventories?

How do you have enough inventory for that?

i don't have space problems, and I repeat, if both systems are implemented, you chose of use it both or not, if u dont have space, DON'T USE IT, but allow the people that have space use it

I just hate to pay 4,5k for 1 repair mat when I could have made stacks myself.

Yeah, and Jinrya Geki needs to be able to do something with all those fents he's got!

Gotta agree with the OP. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to repair with dark matter AND repair materials.

yes, I sold to npc 3 stacks of linen fent, and I pay 20k to repair MY own gear...
before = 4 linen fent = free
now = 4 dark matter = 20K

Exactamundo. Before we could craft our own mats, now we have to buy them, or find them in chests, or hope to get one from a guildleve.

If you're gonna keep it dark matter only, SE, give us a way to craft dark matter.

I am happy with the current repair option as it solved the huge problem we previously had of: no inventory to store all the many types of possible repair materials, the low availability of some of those materials, and the matter of finding a crafter able to do the repair itself who also happened to have the needed repair item on hand. Now every crafter can easily obtain the needed items for any repair.

The real problem now is the availability of non-vendor dark matter. I very much agree that this should be somewhat easier to obtain through alternatives to the vendor. Right now you can get dark matter via other sources, but the drop rates seem to be too low. The vendors should still be available to provide the easiest method to obtain dark matter, and the high cost should reflect that ease. If more players are able to obtain dropped or even crafted versions of dark matter, then the bazaars would reflect (eventually) lower prices, once there was enough stock accumulated.

I think adding a way to craft dark matter would be a good idea - and it would allow those players who did enjoy crafting their own repair materials a way to continue to do so.

Like I would throw away seals for pesky repairs. I rather keep the seals and wait if/when more items are available.

As was said before the previous times this has been suggested: No.

There's no point in having both, the new system is clearly superior in terms of pricing, inventory space and ease of collecting. There is now a generally accepted price per tier of dark matter that is easy to follow, it takes up 5 spaces in your inventory at the most and it's extremely abundant in dungeons as well as available from NPCs in all the main cities.

Then at least make mobs drop them more frequently. Like beastmen.

This is a much needed gil sink, we need more gil sinks not less. The cost to repair is fair, you no longer fail repairs. The system is easy to understand, now ppl know how much to pay for repairs.

The old system was a disaster with WAY to many materials, if they introduce the old system back in I would be required by my ls to carry the cheap old mats since ppl will always want to pay less for repairs. No longer will I get 5k per repair i'll get the 1-2k of old, and i'll be expected to do the repairs for the price I can see it now

"tachi repair all my wvr/lw gear please, ... 1k each"

Also, the game needs gil sinks.
Dark matter is a gil sink.

It is needed to balance the economy.

Right now more money comes INTO the game than goes out.

Adding options is always good. So i say lets have both!

Both are extremely a bad idea... removes this new Gil Sink (for most items). As much as I hate the new costs for these Dark Matters, I think its a good idea in the game right now. This is helping remove gil from the game.

As someone above posted about fent vs matter.. people would end up using only Fent basically nullifying this new Dark Matter except for expensive/rare repair materials. Just face it, until there are other gil sinks in the game, this system has to stay in place. And maybe after they have other gil sinks, then this may become an option.

And you can prepare to cry for more because they will simplify recipes in 1.19
And you might see some unreasonable mat to make stuff

This. Exactly this.

How are people overlooking this? Adding the old system would actually ruin the new system because pricing would be so skewed. If the value of mats for the old system is much cheaper than the new system, you're essentially forced back into the old system for economic reasons.

I think i am right in saying that these items have not been removed from the game so where is the harm.

If you have an Oak Branch, use the branch.

That is something I haven't considered. Since the introduction of dark matter, I'm actually paying less for repairs, because I know exactly how much the materials cost.

Before, I'd put my weapon up for 10k, because finding a high level goldsmith willing to sacrifice a jade to repair my knuckles was near impossible. Now I put it up for 6k, because I know grade 5 dark matter only costs 4800, and it gets repaired within minutes!

Additionally, the current system pushes players to respect the time/gil required to achieve a high level craft. Before, an iron square was used to repair items ranging from r20 to r50. Because the material itself was low level and relatively cheap, the amount of gil players offered to crafters to repair their gear was quite small. Despite the fact that getting a crafter high enough to repair their iron cuirass (or whatever) was no trivial task - that time was not rewarded because the associated repair material was cheap.

with both systems you can perfectly pay the same 4,8K of Gil, so there is no problem with that

and how's that any different than the same people running around right now offering 1,200 for a grade 5 matter repair?

people are still expecting crafters to keep doing the repairs for those items for the same amount that they did before. there's been a few people that sat there for days in spots because people refuse to repair their gear due to they refuse to pay the material cost. this system may be ok for some items, but it's not for others and the overall cost has went up on all besides a select few items. i'm one that will walk by, look at the offer, and walk away. if it costs me almost 5k each i'm not doing it for less.

Wow, then they are idiots for not thinking it through, 5k for grade 5 is the most minimum one should offer for repair, if they can't afford it because they are low level, and they wearing such high lvl gear they are idiots.

I can be mined, but the drop rate is fairly low. There is no specific aimpoint for Dark Matter. You occasionally get a piece of Dark Matter instead of the regular 1 to 3 crystal shards. I went out mining grade 5 until fatigue, and picked up 4 or 5 pieces of Grade 5 Dark Matter (disclaimer: your results may vary).

I can understand the relatively low DM drop rate from gathering, since it's really the only gil sink in the game right now. Once chocobo rentals, airship tickets, and materia crystalization gil sinks are added in 1.19, I could see SE increasing the gather rate on DM slightly.
