Please make a gift option - at the very least, for Crysta we can send to another service account. Opinion might vary on the shop, but I'd like to at least be able to send a friend Crysta as a gift for something in there.

I agree, thats a very thoughtful idea.
This would be great especially with the holdiay season coming up.
I like this idea, it would be really nice to have the option. I'd actually assumed beforehand that we'd have a "send as gift" option, and was kind of disappointed there isn't one.
No. That's when it becomes stupid and people sell cash shop items for Gil and become rich just by selling vanity stuff with no effort. Do you want 1m+ per materia? because that's how you get 1m+ per materia.
As far as I know, all but the pumpkins are untradable/unsellable, which could easily be fixed if this is implemented. If this cash shop is going to be stuff from past events/minions/mounts (things that are generally unique and untradable), would there be that much of an issue?
Actually, I'm not sure how this affects a gift option or not - if things are currently sellable, wouldn't people be able to make a ton of money and not have to think about gifting a means for others to buy them?
I would think everything cannot be traded, so a gift option would place the gift in the person you wish to gift's mog mail. Would be a wonderful surprise. I am against cash shop, but would love to buy stuff for my gf as a surprise, so I can get behind that. Make it happen!
People would shout for buying/selling through gift system to get untradeable items on other players. Like I give you for example 20k gil and you gift my character X item. Other games have this system on their cash shops and it's always the same. It's a legalized RMT, because you're paying SE, not someone else getting profit on it. And players get rich in game with no effort, and high spenders acumulate so much Gil in a short period of time, buying overpriced items, changing the economy and inflating the prices even more.
In light of the recent proposed cash shop addition and the fact that it's drawing nearer to Christmas, I feel the need to resurrect this thread which (imo) didn't get the attention it deserved.
Also, Nel told me to try and find a positive angle. :)
I'm wholly against buying myself mounts and minions (damned SE double-dipping cashgrabbers), but I'd like to be able to buy gifts this holiday season for FC buddies (suddenly I don't mind the cash shop as much). A purchase in Mogstation which sends the item to the MoogleMailBox of someone on your friends list would be ideal.
Noobs getting rich, and destroying the marketboard. No thanks.
In the least, we can hope some of these noobs are too stupid/scared to go with illegal rmt. last thing we wanna do is throw a means to getting legit bought gil in rich noobs faces. Noobs noobs noobs.
I can't see a reason for this to exist. if people want stuff, then effing buy it. Gil is mindlessly easy to make. real money is not.
I can imagine SE doing this anyway though. Legit rmt, way to go. They'd make a fortune right about now with all the 110 gear and material. But they also seem to care about the economy....some bit at least.
edit; and yes, theres probably that 1/500 ppl who would actually like to gift a friend stuff. So don't go getting forum white knight on me please.
Pretty sure all of the cash shop items are unsellable/untradeable, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that anyone who sees this as a get-rich-quick-on-the-market-board scheme is just slinging jade.
As for the gift idea, absolutely! I know a bunch of folks in my FC want to buy a sleipnir mount for our leader for being such an amazing person.
I can see your concern and I agree. Ah well, was just trying to come up with a way of making this damnable cash shop more appealing. Guess I'll go back to hating on it again for now.
It's more about 'gilbuyer' shouts "selling Papalymo Minion gift for 1mil gil"; you have to send them 1mil gil and then they spend $2 gifting you the minion. They've just bought 1mil gil for $2. On the plus side, SE get a ton of cash from gilbuyers (rather than RMT). On the minus side, the economy collapses and SE have no recourse as they have sanctioned the action. On the funny side, we'd get a ton of threads here about people being double-crossed during their transaction.
I can't think of a way around it. Gating the ability to send gifts or restricting the number you can send per character just delays or can be worked around with additional characters. It's a damned shame.
I'd rather they would find alternative options to UGC first, I bought a bunch of game time before it retired, but once it runs out, unless they find another prepaid option soon, I won't be able to continue.
I didn't mean use cash shop items with marketboard, I meant ppl using the gifting system to get rich, and then buying out marketboard at outrageous prices---> Economy phuct. And the rate would be skyrocket high. People would keep their crystra for rich ass crafters/run sellers.
I would love for crysta to be giftable. Time cards are gift able, but what about my retainers or companion app? it would be nice to be able to ask for crysta for my birthday or yule, and pay for my game through that. at least for a little while.
Well that might not happen but you can gift away game cards, you can gift items as well, just go around in game with your friend and find out what they like by pointing at other players wearing mog station items and then send them the code.
So it might just be 7 AM and I'm not exactly fully awake yet, but wouldn't this already be possible? You can gift items already to other players (fanta, mounts, minions, outfits, etc.), so what's stopping people from just saying "hey pay me x gil and ill send you a gift code?"
Also how would crysta do anything to affect in game...can it be converted to gil or something? If not it just seems like another way to do the example I said above, which is already possible?
Like if I'm missing the point then that's fair, it's early. Just confused.
