Hey folks! So from Mercy Stroke to the new Mug ability, there are some abilities that ONLY work most effectively as the killing blow. And they are notoriously difficult to pull off, especially when in parties. Unfortunately, for light parties/full parties/alliances, I have no real solution.
For soloing, however, I think I might.
Essentially, give the following abilities to Marauder and Rogue:
Marauder:
Graviton Cleave
80TP
Inflicts damage with a potency of 180. (Read: 80 points higher than a standard ability, 20 points lower than a combo'd "Skull Sunder")
Additional Effect: Enemy HP cannot be reduced lower than 1 HP with this ability. Cancels "Auto-Attack" on use.
Rogue:
Demi Slicer
80TP
Inflicts damage with a potency of 140
Additional Effect: Enemy HP cannot be reduced lower than 1 HP with this ability. Cancels "Auto-Attack" on use.
This is probably a really stupid idea that's ultimately a waste of text, but hey.

.. or just make it so these "Deathblow" abilities apply a 2 second debuff to the target, and if target dies with debuff applied then the Deathblow effect executes.

Actually both ideas are good. I like the debuff a little more though. The skills are a good idea if they have a really long cooldown. I'm talking like, two minutes or more. That way they can't be used in a regular rotation, but they'd be a nice little bonus when they were available.

For that mechanic, it would be interesting to see if any of the FCoB bosses will have it. Typically in Final Fantasy series, this horrendous skill used by bosses is called "Heartless Angel" ;) -

I always thought Twintania twisters should be like this and not a one shot thing.
It would be a nice reference to SNES era of Final Fantasy and wouldnt make the fight any easier. A tank hit with this would be dead by the next plummet or auto-attack twintania does anyway. -

Just curious... in what version of FFVI is Fallen One renamed to "Heartless Angel"? The GBA version? The smartphone version?
Also, just for the sake of interest, Ultimecia uses a "down to 1 HP" attack in the final battle of FFVIII, called "Hell's Judgment." -

The whole point is the statement "it is in one game" is flat wrong. Saying "well a lot of those games are part of the same series" is shifting goal posts. Heartless Angel is an attack from several games that does the same thing. There are some other attacks with the same effect, but obv some are more well known.
