3.0 gives us four new abilities

I am speculating 3 new abilities for our jobs/class and although a 4th one does sound rich even for me to say. I think we can expect 2 new Class and Job moves and 2 Trait upgrade for the expansion.

I mainly play Dragoon so I'll start there, at 52, the Trait Upgrade, simple and easy Enhance Strength IV (+8)

at 54, I can see us getting a New gap closers (Sky-Dragon Slash), You Throw your Spear in the air, the you jump to it, and land on Target. AoE please.

At 57, Since I can't see the best option, I opted to go an OP thought. Blood For Blood is Extend II; Buffed to 45%s, and incoming damage is reduced to 15% incoming

At 60, Harmony Thrust, a Move that can switch out with Chaos Thrust, Harmony Thrust steals HP and TP from Target over time.

What moves would you have added in 3.0?

The thread title was a bit misleading...

Loldrg needs to get Dragonheart. Then the fun will never end.


(Could make that skill but less OP.. something like Jumps apply Dragonheart/spirit that prevents dragoons from going under 100% of the damage dealt for 1.5 seconds 30/60 second cooldown on trait)

What exactly is harmonious about this? Also, if such a move existed, why would you ever have a reason to use Chaos Thrust? The idea is not for new abilities to render current ones useless.

There should definitely be some sort of HP stealing move for DRG, it's a staple of the class in the final fantasy series.

(But please don't make other skills obsolete for it.)

Yeah, 200-300HP every 90 seconds in a game where you have well over 6k hp is not even close to balanced. The only reason people use life surge is the guaranteed critical hit.

That's what Life Surge is.

i would speculate:
class skills at 54 and 58
traits at 52, 56 and 60.
job skills at 55 and 60.
there could ofc be more skills from quests, but...doubt it.

because chaos thrust has combined potency of 500. and you don't need to steal HP/TP if you have full (or close to)

DRG HP absorption abilities have never been all that potent, nor has it been "a staple".

FFII: Ricard is the only DRG in the game, doesn't have this ability (can't jump either, but that's another matter).
FFIII: DRGs don't have this ability, even in the remake versions.
FFIV: Kain doesn't have this ability.
FFV: First appearance of the "Lance/Lancet" ability. Fairly weak HP absorption abilities, best used on mage classes for MP absorption.
FFVII: Cid's "Dragon" Limit Break absorbs HP/MP based on damage dealt. The most potent example of the ability in the series, but can't be used very often.
FFIX: Freya's "Lancer" only drains MP.
FFX: Kimahri's "Lancet" drains a very small amount of HP/MP, and is mainly used as a method of learning new Overdrives.
FFXI: DRGs have no HP absorption abilities against enemies.
FF Dimensons: "Lancet" appears again, still fairly weak in proportion to the DRG's HP.

So considering this, an ability that gives you up to 10% of your HP back every minute (remember, the trait DRGs get reduce the recast to 60 seconds) is pretty on par with other variants of similar abilities in past FF games.

They are heading away from classes so unwound be surprised if it's just 2 abilities. 55 and 60 job quest abilities with 1-2 traits.

Except in most of those games DRG also had other skills that healed them, DRG in XIV does not. The only self healing aside from Life Surge that DRG gets is Second Wind from PGL, which recovers around 600 hp and can only be used once every four minutes. Also, mp has absolutely zero relevance to DRGs in XIV so their "lancet" type ability is still severely underpowered by any standard of the franchise.

(To be perfectly honest, even compared to it's own 1.0 and 1.23 iterations, DRGs self healing is severely underpowered.)
