individual rather than party limit breaks seemed to be hinted at too.
They said it would be for all jobs. Not just BRD. The question was about BRD specifically, but they clearly said it would be somewhere around 3.0 and basically a revamp to the LB system we currently have.
Yeah, I remember them saying a while back they were going to revise the system to at least give unique animations.
Ninja's using Bravery and Final Heaven might have been the final push the design team needed to see to think 'Yeah, this doesn't make a lot of sense.'
Folks gonna find a way to get MAD about this too, just watch the thread a sec...
I won't be the mad guy. It does sound stupid for ranged DPS to have a healing limit break. I welcome the change.
Individual LB's are better, imagine if it causes extra dmg if everyone executes their respective LB's at the same time? Maybe as much dmg as a party LB.
Just do it already, this whole situation when a person doesn't do LB cause DERP is killing me.
This can work, just add another bar to the Limit Break bar and give the individual Limit Break its own skill icon.
I think they're just making them job-specific, not individually. They might still be a groupal-effect LB.
I would personally LOVE it if Summoner get's an epic primal summoning for their limit break based on the avatar they have out. Get Ifrit to break out Inferno, Titan to use Earthen Fury and Garuda to use Aerial Blast. Oh, and 'Highwind' for Dragoon...
...do I dare to dream?
The difference is that some individuals who are usually not allowed to use their limit breaks (Tanks, largely) could be able to use their limit breaks. There's a similar system in DCUO. Each player has a meter they fill. Once it fills a certain amount, they can activate their "Overcharge" ability, depending on which it is. It doesn't really break anything as it is just as hard to fill the Overcharge meter as it is to fill the Limit Break meter (the only difference being that the Overcharge meter starts at whatever you had before you started rather than at 0 before every boss fight).
I would love, as a tank, to be able to use a defensive Limit Break to protect people without getting yelled at for wasting LB that the Melee DPS or Healers could have used instead. Not that I ever do that, I know better. But I would love the opportunity to hit the Limit Break button and put up a massive shield around the entire party for a few seconds so a couple of fool dps don't cause a wipe due to not getting out of what is normally an OHKO AoE.
If Bard gets their own limit break it has to be one of two things;
1) Support limit
2) AoE limit that is explicitly weaker than mage one
I vote for an individual limit break system. It's kind of boring/not fun to almost always exclusively reserve the LB for the DPS. Tanks and healers get the shaft. -_-
Nobody remembers when tanks LB'd before Garuda's Aerial Blast? No? Oh, okay.
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Because it requires a meter to fill up before it's used, as opposed to being able to use it whenever, and it fills up whenever actions are taken, not automatically over time. I mean hell, by your logic, Limit Breaks in previous Final Fantasy titles weren't really Limit Breaks either.
And Warriors need to build up Wrath, and Ninja's need to do signs beforehand, and Summoners and Scholars need to have Aetherflow available, and Monks need to be in the proper stance, and so many melee abilities are chained off of others.
Again, the only thing you're doing is putting a longer cooldown on it.
Then I shall just detail how they're different from regular abilities.
You'll have to build up your LB. This could go up at a different rate for different actions for each job.
Example, healers would mainly build it up through healing (no overhealing), damage would build it up to a lesser extent. Tanks through tanking, so an offtank not tanking would build it up slower. DPS through damage, BRD, potentially having a unique support LB, could build it up through using songs.
And there are still different levels to the ability depending on how high you charge it up, making it unlike our other abilities.
